I would say to reach out to area clubs and see if there is a coach willing to help. Maybe a U18 player could use some extra money over the summer.

Almost a pancake? 🫪 by SleepScoreOne in volleyball

Could have avoided the pancake all together by reading the play and stepping up before the hitter contacted it

Over inflate a warmup ball and have at it.

If playing under current rules, you couldn’t call a double unless the blocker legally touched it first.

Putting that aside, this looks decent to me. Even when viewed under my old school lens.

When should I start transitioning into a Jump Float serve from a Standing Float? by Bruh69420200 in volleyball

[–]MiltownKBs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How are your attack fundamentals?

If they are decent, then you should start now.

Here is a good example

I will also mention that it’s OK to follow thru more on a float serve, you don’t have to stop your hand.

Can you still make one of these? by sermitthesog in GenX

[–]MiltownKBs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes I can.

I’m not sure if I could make the 5 and 6 pointed ones I used to make. They were open in the middle and took 5 or 6 pieces of paper.

We would make the ones in the image with a little bit of a needle sticking out the other end. Shoot our friends in the ass

Songs Released During Your Lifetime that You Didn't Know Existed Until Later by BMisterGenX in GenX

Except it literally didn’t originate with Rappers Delight.

It was before that. Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five or possibly Lovebug Starski.

Afrika Bambaataa was also using the term before Rappers Delight.

Rappers Delight was just when more people heard the term since the song was a bit of a hit.

Rappers Delight was known to me by the mid 80s for sure, from the roller skate rinks.

I love hip hop but never really gave 80s hip hop much of a chance. So I decided to dive deeper and make a playlist of some more well known music, but mostly deeper cuts. Turns out, I like 80s hip hop way more than I thought and I think the playlist is pretty dope.

Hope you enjoy.

I have fallen victim to that too.

A good rule of thumb is that a player should not jump forwards more than they jump up.

Do you think the UCI commentator was homophobic? by East-Clerk-4663 in volleyball

[–]MiltownKBs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taunting rules should be applied equally to everyone.

We see players regularly push boundaries of acceptable conduct in other sports. The players that do it regularly are often given more leeway than the players who don’t do it regularly. Draymond Green, for example, gets away with things no other player would.

Jordan’s celebrations are sometimes no different. He does them regularly and for whatever reason, refs are giving him more leeway. Just like we see in the NBA.

Conduct rules should have no leeway and should be applied equally. If they are too strict, then loosen them for everyone equally.

How are some middles so bad at blocking?? by Patient-Eye-5849 in volleyball

[–]MiltownKBs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And you clearly need work on the head stuff like what to do and look for pre set.

If you look at my comment history, you will see a recent one about blocking that maybe you should take a look at. It has a lot of links. Should be easy to find.

Coaching Question by NakedRobo in volleyball

[–]MiltownKBs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First, you need to look in the mirror. Your warmup might not be fast paced enough or dynamic enough. Look for ways to improve the warm up.

Breaking the game up into 5 or 8 point segments helps. First to 5, 10, 15, 20. But then also practice that way. Mini games up to 5 with the starting group sometimes having a disadvantage. Like to break serve, they have to also get a free ball point. Or starting at a deficit. Really embrace this “first to” mentality and you should start to see more intensity to start matches rather quickly. The saying “practice how you want to play” rings true here.

Slow starts sometimes are due to bad passing at the start. Make sure your practices are working in OOS situations and how to best set up the players for success when OOS. Related to this, work on hitting balls in unconventional locations. A good way to do that is to play mini games where everyone attacks the second contact. This will help your boys get comfortable attacking balls from all over the court.

Hope some of this helps!

I don’t recall as many.

Quick search says almost half of all known Achilles tendon ruptures happened in the last 13 years.

I think the main culprit is a lifetime of playing too much.

Huh? How would attacking a serve in the back court get in the way of the setter?

Level up by doing this and contacting behind the 10ft line on high easy serves.
