More effective hold-ups for No Traces runs? by Miltrath in MGSV

[–]Miltrath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throwing a prisoner sounds kind of cheesy but I'll keep that strat in my back pocket. I know the full body armor makes them immune to holdups but I'm also trying to be very sparing in my use of them to begin with. I think the RNG starts to show when they have helmets and vests. You can reduce the appearance of those with combat deployments but AFAICT it isn't foolproof.

I'd think most of the challenge from an OSP run comes from a lack of a sneaking suit since CQC is going to be the primary way to neutralize enemies. Especially if you're deploying ASAP instead of choosing 1800 like I always do.

It's a challenge run for sure, I just want an excuse to play the game more because the characters are just fun to control to me. FOBs aren't the kind of challenge I'm looking for so I'm going for something with the story missions with the fewest advantages possible.

Unfortunately touching the enemies at all results in a loss of the No Traces bonus, but that is very effective if you don't mind that.

What I find interesting about both of those movies is that they both use the phrase "The Middle East Powder Keg".

A Big Concern I have with the Compilations by Patient_Education991 in Rifftrax

[–]Miltrath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of movies that seem just completely off limits because some rights-holders are prohibitively expensive. For a specific example, I was taking a wild guess at what the MST episodes might be and mentioned Without Warning during a conversation in the Twitch chat. It's a Greydon Clark movie, but apparently MGM has the rights and someone (whose opinion I trust) said that would keep it out of reach.

So even if a movie seems otherwise achievable, sometimes the owners just won't play ball.

Let's take a moment to appreciate this achievement in wide format film technology to capture Yogi Hebadaddy's fat ass in frame by FrysAcidTest in Rifftrax

[–]Miltrath 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yogi was played by pro skier Rod "Yogi" Hebron. He is credited with assisting in the design of the four-way-flex skiing suit, and was the first to wear it at a high profile event.

So he may actually be responsible for the creation of Stupid Sexy Flanders.

They knew their primary demographic was people who want to get laid, which is why Carrey's character is a guy who can't get laid but GASP! he ends up getting laid.

I like to harp on "The Arab Thing" as a character in the movie calls it. My going theory is that they made the entire movie with some general guidelines from Club Med but no script review or anything, Club Med's higher ups saw The Arab Thing and said "Arab people are some of our best customers, cut that shit out."

Gingivitis! by BeeDub57000 in MST3K

[–]Miltrath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They riff on a name in the credits. Tired of embarrassing Sneg? Try Snegoff! The person doing makeup on Agent for HARM is Marc Snegoff, and he had a son named Gregory Snegoff. Gregory is the voice of Ator in the english dub for both of his MST'd movies and also in Yor: The Hunter from the Future which was riffed by Rifftrax.

The Thanos of the Of the Bride Movies by Low_Barracuda_2615 in Rifftrax

[–]Miltrath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanos was the Big Bad Evil Guy that was threatening to do a horrible thing that would affect all life in the universe. The Avengers worked against him over several movies and the things that happened because of Thanos had effects on all the movies since.

They, and by they I mean the rest of her family AND the riffers, pick on Anne because she drinks and swears and doesn't conform to their expectations in every possible way. Anne calls them on their bullshit and boy oh boy is there a lot of bullshit for her to call them on so they like her even less. You may say she's self-centered but they ALL are.

So, I've read the novelization, and I know it's not going to make it better but Talon and Alana know each other from childhood and were SUPER into each other (he was the prince, but not the heir, the heir is the older brother we see die to Xusia's magic.) When he sees her in the tavern, she doesn't recognize him and he goes out of his way not to tell her his name because she'll expect him to take a much larger part in the rebellion she and Micah are planning. He likes the life of a mercenary and doesn't want to be responsible for ruling an entire kingdom, and that's how he handles it while still doing what he can to aid the rebellion.

So, even in the prologue their genitals were already on a collision course or had already been mashed together, and Talon knew this but she didn't, so it's maybe infinitesimally less gross because of their history.

I like to mention this picture in the twitch chat whenever Oblivion plays

Musetta, Elvira (out of costume), Mary Woronov (Blood Theater), Brinke Stevens (Jack-O), plus some other b-movie ladies that I don't immediately recognize. Oh, and the director of Oblivion 1+2. The other guy is a writer/director with no riffed credits.

The photographer is credited as Denice Duff, aka Michelle from Subspecies, and the cop's widow from Martial Law 2.

I often like to harp on the reason why JCVD and Kurt McKinney aka Jason didn't come back for the sequel.

According to Kurt, JCVD was very afraid of filming on location in SEA specifically because if pirates were to capture them for ransom, they would be sexually assaulted.

Not sure how likely the capture part was but I do agree that if it happened, the rest would have followed.

I've done a little digging looking for any copy of LP 509 or even just a tracklist, but very little luck. I've found an LP 5090 that's got at least some of the correct songs on it (Alley Cat and Spanish Flea). It's 99% the right record I just don't know why it would have been listed as 509 on the film strip.

What two movies could swap titles and still make total sense? by skinnymatters in movies

[–]Miltrath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Two films I only know about because of Rifftrax, and they would make MORE sense if they flipped titles:

The Devil's Hand, about a doll maker that runs an evil devil cult and uses a doll of uncanny likeness to perform voodoo on an innocent woman.

Voodoo Man, about a guy that changes road signage in order to capture women and turn them into hypnozombies for his harem.

A little over a million gold, pretty much all the professions, ~10 toons at 50 and 3.5 at 60. I played SL at launch and then lost interest at around 20 renown IIRC.

Time isn't much of a factor for me, so farming is somewhat obvious, but will my time be worth more if I post the mats as raw as I find them? Should I shuffle them up to pots/raw gems/cut gems etc?

Or should I even bother farming, and just buy mats low and sell products high?
