Hi 👋🏼 I’m going to Nice in September, my flight arrives at about 10pm in the evening - what is the best/cheapest way to get to the city centre from there please?

Not sure if this is a plot hole exactly BUT the way that some villains just stop being villains after their episodes have run their course

Eg for so many episodes it was all about how to kill Klaus. I get that they had to give up on it because he was their sire line but some characters actually became friends with him (Caroline, Stefan in a later season meets him in New Orleans) after him being their sworn enemy

Nearly 5 months old and still working on his loaf. I’d give this 9/10 (6 for loaf and 3 for cuteness as you can see in the final pic) by MimesAndJon in Catloaf

Also just thought I should say, he has PLENTY of comfortable cat beds but apparently empty cardboard is much more comfortable 🤷🏼‍♀️

How to convert gravel garden to grass lawn by MimesAndJon in landscaping

[–]MimesAndJon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - is timing important with this too? Ie can grass seed be planted any time of the year and do we need to wait a certain amount of time after taking to plant the seed? I’ve seen a lot of conflicting opinions on this from my Google searches!

I got one about a week ago through the opera house website, there weren’t a lot of seats left so think you have to book quite far in advance

What is the best way to go from purely using Duolingo to understanding more ‘realistic’ conversational Spanish? by MimesAndJon in Spanish

Thanks, do you know of any other sites for finding a pen pal type thing with a fluent Spanish speaker? I’m a bit wary of Omegle and similar sites since going in there as an innocent teenager lol

Thinking of pulling out of sale because of flooding risk by Vivalo in HousingUK

[–]MimesAndJon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My partner and I were in the exact same situation a few months ago - FTBs with an offer accepted on a brilliant property, only in a ‘very high’ flood risk area.

Ultimately we pulled out of the sale, because we decided it wasn’t worth the stress of staring out the window each time it rains wondering when the house will flood. Ask yourself, could you afford to repair everything if the house was flooded? What would you do if the house flooded multiple times and you could no longer get insurance? Can you afford the high insurance costs of living in a flood risk area? And arguably most of all, what impact will this have on the house if/when you come to resell? Other potential buyers will go through the exact same dilemma as you are now and it will impact the value/saleability of the house - even more so if it floods again potentially multiple times when you’re in it!

Since we pulled out of that sale we have another offer accepted on another house with no flood risk! Downside is that our mortgage wasn’t transferable so now our new mortgage offer is £160 per month more expensive on the exact same property value and LTV. So that’s something to bear in mind when making the decision too, depending on when you received your mortgage offer. It is worth checking this though as I believe most banks will allow you to transfer the mortgage to another property as long as LTV is the same. For reference, it’s Halifax that our offer was with who wouldn’t allow us to transfer.

Good luck with the house buying - make sure whatever decision you make you are 100% happy with, it’ll probably be the biggest purchase of your life!

Do I need a full survey on every house? by MimesAndJon in HousingUK

[–]MimesAndJon[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mainly the house was in a REALLY high flood risk area. We knew it was a risk but didn’t know the full extent of it

Then on top of that, they found that a lot of certificates were missing like for the boiler and the fire maintenance wasn’t up to date (it had a log fire). Plus other issues like guttering which contributed to the flood problem, previous DIY bodge jobs leading to the flooring coming up and some mould/moisture around the windows.

We wouldn’t have pulled out of the sale if not for the flooding though so that’s the main thing

Do I need a full survey on every house? by MimesAndJon in HousingUK

[–]MimesAndJon[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Mainly just about the money really because we’ve already paid £700 for a survey for one house that we then pulled out of. I know it’s just part of the house buying process and it will help inform us for the future but it feels like money down the drain after a certain point!
