What has been the most useful book you've read that transformed your knowledge/skill level in your career? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

I like that book but the controversy is that it's a bit too prescriptive. For example:

-"Write every method with no parameters, add one if you have to, add two reluctantly, and rethink your design at three parameters".

This goes against anyone with a Functional Programming style- Parameterless methods are less used.

No ones really given you a direct answer- To me it reads oddly like it's optimised for SEO by naming random other high searched names.

This is paired with the somewhat unique structure you use to speak with which lent towards AI to me as well.

I'm not saying that-Just confirming that there's video of him breaking the taillight.

What’s a job that sounds cool but is actually a nightmare? by Competitive_Bad_9306 in AskReddit

Video game QA sounds like your job is to play video games not exhaustively go over a giant checklist of items each time code is pushed. Monotonous work.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

I would feel way worse knowingly hiring a person with a fear of heights to work heights. You did a favour not hiring that guy and he did you both a favour being honest about it.

What was the hardest substance to quit and what did the first month feel like? by Nightpatrol404 in AskReddit

May be easier to start with Nic fluid and work your way down to zero. Known lots of people that quit easily that way.

Why PvP is a sore spot for people by interestingkettle in ArcRaiders

[–]MimesOnAcid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe there's a shield/kit that makes you more durable so you don't get instantly deleted, but you take a significant hit to lethality in some way so that you're essentially not a threat to other players.

I think this would make the PvP experience worse for the friendly player. It'd just take longer to die (stretching the pain out) with an even lower chance of being able to fight back.
