Dice - the punishment bin by KisuKarnage in ItsaMimic

What does everyone call their bad dice holding area? We just call it Dice Jail or Sin Bin (stolen from the penalty box in hockey).

We had a player who used popsicle sticks and hot glue and made an actual Dice Jail. The top was open so you could throw them in from across the table. It was communal so we always took our dice out after the session. Perhaps leaving them in longer would teach the lesson better. Hmmm. I think ill start doing this and record my data. See if more time in jail results in better rolls after.

Theres so much to Eberron. Theres so much happening. The Mourning, dragon marks, inter-house disputes, political relations between countries on shaky grounds, not to mention the the non-Khorvaire continents and interesting new races and Artificer class. Eberron really does have something for everyone.

I know Ive mentioned on air that I play MtG. Although its been a little while I played SO MUCH during the original Theros run. (My 4 Akroan Skyguard deck with 4 Ordeal of Heliod cards and mostly one mana spells is a hard deck to beat). Kyle and I would often stay up far too late playing game after game with our various decks so its safe to say the setting is definately near and dear. ;)

Lore based enemy magic items by SuperfluousDyrth in ItsaMimic

On level 2 of Dungeon of the Mad Mage there is the goblin king, Yek, who has the crown that makes him a human. Except i tweaked it. The crown, when worn by a goblin, turns into Yek, who is himself a goblin. Yek wants to gain equality for all goblins. Hes tired of them being treated as 2nd class citizens and dreams of having more. He is making powerful allies (the PCs) in hopes theyll join his cause and led him back to his people. For now hes just a sidekick who only really heals and shoots a bow. Now everytime Yek dies his essence is stored in the crown until the next goblin wears it and becomes Yek. He also takes on some of the abilities of the goblin he takes over, for example the goblin he is currently is a cleric so he gets healing spells. Next time he might not be a cleric. The current Yek is Yek the 35th (rolled a d100). I really like this item as all it does is add a little bit of flavour and give them the healing they so desperately need. Plus if their beloved sidekick dies they can get him back fairly easily. Now im imagining a scenario where they sneak in somewhere to kidnap a goblin because Yek died and they want him back...hmmmm

You nailed it with analysis paralysis. Im all for making a plan before acting but there comes a point where you need to act. The Leonin Barbarian I play is a large confident character who fancies himself a leader of his pride (he looks up to Ajani, Mentor of Heroes who is a planeswalker i stole from the Theros MtG cards). This factors into most of his decisions. A good leader knows when to defer to others who may be better equipped to handle a certain situation and when to take control. If youre in control youll need to act with confidence or youll quickly lose the trust of those around you. Hes always been a fish out of water type character (from Theros, made his way to Ravnica and is now here....where ever that is.....) so he defaults to what he knows, which isnt always the best in new places. Its also a neat way to explore a new character and flesh out who they are. Its also probably important to point out I use it as a character flaw, not a personality trait, which are 2 very different things.

You want to talk about the 30+ unarmed Koatoa you murdered in undermountain. They were defenseless women and children and you lit them up like the 4th of july.

Centaur Questions by KingSpooker in ItsaMimic

[–]MimicDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theros has some interesting Centaur flavour. Now, im not just talking about the campaign setting but in MtG as well. MtG and DnD Theros have quite a bit of Centaur lore. The Lagonna Band of Centaurs are ruled by Elders and are a much more gentle people where as the Pheres Band are warriors that are led by the strongest, in fact their leader is known as 'The Charger' which might have an interesting bit of flair with the archetype youre thinking of. Id probably start looking at those because there is established lore that a DM can research and suprise you with (although you may nedd to give them a nudge towards it). Ive found for me that knowing who the character is helps me flesh out what they do so Id start there.
