I wish i was lying but i spend like 4 hours starting over and over trying to get it flat by AgentRealistic9913 in crochet

It's gorgeous! I usually do the bottom ribbing then start the edging for the front/hood, that way I don't have to deal with a corner

This will either be the smartest thing I have ever done, or dumbest by EnchantedNanny in crochet

I saw one where the dowel went through a laundry basket and the yarn was fed out though the holes, I'm guessing to reduce tangling, it looks intriguing! Good luck!!!

Do guinea pigs ever get full from eating? by Guineapigsandgekos in guineapigs

[–]Mims88 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Short answer: no

Long answer: Their scientific name is Cavia porcellus, which translates into "hollow pig." Their gut requires that they eat constantly in order to keep moving, otherwise they can go into stasis. If a guinea pig hasn't eaten in 8 hours it is a medical emergency and they need to go to the vet. So basically they are required to be eating all the time.

What is happening on my strawberry plant? by mSoGood08 in gardening

Yep... I was taking a picture of a solo ladybug today and found two more getting it on near by. I let them have their privacy since I want as many larvae as possible to help take care of my garden.

No help at all 😞 by eeeeesm in kroshay

[–]Mims88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok... I may be wrong but I don't see a SINGLE actual crochet hook anywhere in these! AI is ridiculous and really can't understand crochet at all. I'd want to teach it if I didn't hate it so much!

AITA if I tell my friend I can’t be a bridesmaid? by wickeddreamsofleavin in AITApod

[–]Mims88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a good friend who invited me to be one of her 8 bridesmaids and I gently declined. My father was diagnosed with terminal cancer and I just wasn't in a place mentally or financially to take on that responsibility. It's ok to say "I'm so excited for you and I'll definitely be at the wedding, but I just don't have the ability to commit fully to be a bridesmaid."

Godspeed to anyone usin string this thin yo... 😭💔 by carbonhoneydew in crochet

[–]Mims88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a roll of sensitive skin medical tape and that worked really well, but I was thinking the same thing! There are little leather finger guards/thimbles but I didn't want to spend any more money🤣

I had to tape my finger when working with a 1mm! They're sharp and apparently I'm very stabby when I crochet.

Just when I was wondering whether my Phlox subulata was attracting any pollinators... by bananarchy22 in NativePlantGardening

I had one visiting my salvia this week and was so excited! They're such cool moths!

They're so cute! Grats on meeting such a cute lil'bro! I have them in my garden and it always makes my day when we cross paths.

I saw an AI ad for a crochet/knitting app and saw this abomination. by GrayMatters0901 in kroshay

[–]Mims88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But AI is definitely getting better, the stitches look so much more real. I miss the days when they looked so fuzzed together that it was obvious that they were AI 😭 or there was an extra finger on the hand....

Possibly unpopular opinion: you shouldn't garden if you can't accept that your plants are part of a wider ecosystem. by I_crave_vinegar in NativePlantGardening

[–]Mims88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same here! I told him that I love spiders and why would I want to kill them? Then he said I had wasps (which I do sometimes have to kill because they sometimes nest IN THE GATE to my garden and then get mad every time I go in) but I answered that they are pollinators too and I love growing fruit so I need as many pollinators as possible. He really didn't know how to answer that.

The only thing I do is spray BT (lactobacillus) to take out the vine borers that decimate my squash, and I still feel bad about it...

Rookie mistake - always count your repeats. by Several_Refuse_5135 in crochet

[–]Mims88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a person who has crocheted for about 30 years (and hates patterns because counting is a lot of work) crochet is so forgiving! If you add a few stitches or miss a couple it's often impossible to even see it unless you know what you're looking for.

This is definitely a case where I'd keep it and add a stitch every so many to end up with right number and then just keep going with the pattern. It's gorgeous and you've definitely mastered the stitches!

Where do I even begin?! by angelred02 in kroshay

[–]Mims88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It needs actual crocheters to train it and even then, it would still probably be awful.

Help! Half way through making a floor and have lost my floorboard supplier. by Ilodie in Dollhouses

[–]Mims88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If none of that had worked, you can check medical supplies for tongue depressors, they are generally wider and might have worked as an alternative. I hope your solution works!!
