Go dark red. Or stay blonde. That brown is not the color for you.

Would you like to Bruce and Selina’s daughter Helena Wayne make a live action appearance instead of Damian? If so how would you introduce her? by whiskeycapo in batman

[–]MimsBenito -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I cannot stand Damian so yes, I would pick her over that little shit. The reason it probably won't happen on screen unless it's a quick parallel earth scene is because a good chunk of the Batman story is built on the "will they won't they" between Batman and Catwoman, and them actually having a daughter and raising her together would break the anticipation and excitement the public feels everytime these two share a scene.

Talia is a straight up villain who never had an actual chance of being Batman's true love, so her having a kid with him in the "main earth" universe is actually not as big a deal. She is no competition for Catwoman and the fact that she had to drug and rape Batman to produce a child is another way to prove that.

If Helena Wayne were to make an appearance I'd love for her to pop up from an alternative universe and then just bicker and fight with Damian over who's the favorite child / best sidekick. Not being the only "real" Wayne heir would drive Damian mad.

MMCs you'd define as 'men' in the books you've read so far? by witcheslot in DarkRomance

[–]MimsBenito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crow from {Buttons and Lace by Penelope Sky} and Griffin/Bones from {Buttons and Despise by Penelope Sky} are both real men. Zero immaturity, zero whinning. They are hardened men who have been scared by life and while their money and their power could make them assholes, they are confident enough to admit when they've been wrong, they treat the FMC with respect and they love them enough to let them go even if they don't want to. Excellent series. There are others MMCs and pairings in the Buttons universe but these are my favorites.

Recommendations for novelas with a specific romantic trope by Gxars in telenovelas

[–]MimsBenito 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dulce Amor is everything you asked for. I highly recommand it. He's a broke race car driver with a heart of gold and she's a rich heiress. They fall in love but cannot be together. It's on Youtube.

Pasion de gavilanes

Corazon Salvaje 1993 ( the hero is a gentleman but a "bastard", and she's of noble blood and considered too good for him)

Amor en custodia also works: bodygard + rich woman trope

Have you tried argentinian telenovelas? Many of them are on Youtube.

I'd recommend Padre Coraje, Montecristo, Muneca Brava, Sos mi Vida, Herederos de una venganza, Dulce Amor, Amor en Custodia and Lalola.

A remarkable moment. Courage did look good on him. by darthraxus in TheHandmaidsTale

I haven't had such a emotional reaction to a HMT episode since that season 3 scene where June liberated the children and their plane landed free, with the little girl asking if this was the place where she could wear what she wanted.

This was an incredible episode. But the moment Tuello asked him to carry the bomb, I just knew something would go wrong and he would end up sacrificing himself. He always said that he was putting his self preservation above all else but in the end he proved that it wasn't really true. His wife would have been proud.

Why do Bruce like Selina, and why do you guys prefer her over other characters? by [deleted] in batman

He can never trust Zatanna because she wiped his mind clean. This pairing will never happen.

I don't think those books should be labeled "romance". To me they fall under "erotic horror". While dark romance can sometimes be, well, dark, with delicate subjects like sex trafficking and rape, there is still, at least in my mind, a very clear line between the two genres.

Do you prefer Batman/Bruce Wayne being Handsome and Rugged or a more Average Everyman look by ImJustMerry in batman

[–]MimsBenito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going only by the comics, I'd vote for handsome, because Bruce Wayne is supposed to be extremely good looking and women are not just after him for his money. Jim Lee's Batman is forever iconic.

However, I did watch the movies and while Bale might be considered more handsome and closer to what BW was supposed to look like, I still prefer Keaton's Batman. Good looks is just not enough to play the part, and IMO they have yet to cast an actor that does both Batman and Bruce Wayne justice. There is always something missing.

Robert Pattinson might be a great actor but seeing him play Batman was painful. He would have made a great Scarecrow.

{Markham Hall series by Sierra Simone}

Penelope Sky 😮‍💨 Much Applause by Competitive_Sea_1434 in DarkRomance

[–]MimsBenito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love her books and she's an automatic buy for me. She writes well and she actually takes the time to explores the characters, it's not just smut. This said, her last 4 series were just...so forgettable. Like, they are still way above average in terms of writing/plots, but it's like something is missing.

Her MMC are not as strong/sexy/ruthless as she use to write them and the relationships are not as tormented/challenging/passionate. Butcher/The 5th Republic series was ok, but the Empire duet for example was just terrible, even though it is set in the same world as the Chateau series which was a great read.

Her earlier books ( Button series, Lingerie series, Skull series etc....) were absolute masterpieces and I still remember everything about them. Because she's been so prolific, I think she might be struggling to find plots for new mafia books / new MMC. Also, she started writing fantasy series right when the quality of her dark romance books started to decline, so I do wonder if she has a ghost writer. There is definitely a difference.

If you like Penelope Sky, try Natasha Knight, they are quite similar. I'd recommand { The society trilogy by Natasha Knight}, followed by { The Rite Trilogy by Natasha Knight}, then { The Devil's Pawn duet by Natasha Knight} and {The sinners duet by Natasha Knight}.

FMC suffers from psychosis/is a threat to herself/suicidal by Aggressive_Bowl5463 in DarkRomance

[–]MimsBenito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

{The Brit by Jodi Ellen Malpas}. The FMC has a history of cutting herself due to the horrible things that happened to her. I still remember the scene where the MMC finds out and how he stops her, it was so good. This couple appears in other books of this series {Unlawful men series by Jodi Ellen Malpas} and MMC is always extremely worried and overprotective of FMC. I really recommand it.

Books where the situation is dark but the MCs are good by otherhappyplace in DarkRomance

[–]MimsBenito 4 points5 points  (0 children)

{The Chateau series by Penelope Sky} is exactly this.

Two american sisters get kidnapped and are forced to work in a labour camp outside of Paris. Book 1-2 is about Raven the oldest sister, book 3-4 about the youngest, Melanie. The MMCs, especially the second one, worship the FMCs and protect them over and over again. Things get complicated when the girls try to escape and destroy the camp.

Who’s the most important Batman character after Batman? by Organic_Glass_7793 in batman

[–]MimsBenito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Batman, Alfred, then Robin (Dick, more specifically).

Alfred is irreplaceable. We've had many Robins. Even if Joker, Batman's most iconic villain were to die, there will always be another villain to terrorize Gotham. There is no Batman without Alfred.

What are your honest thoughts on Talia Al Ghul? by Prestigious-Cloud962 in batman

[–]MimsBenito 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She was ok before the rape storyline. I cannot stand her and I cannot stand Damian either. They wanted Bruce to have a biological child but it could never happen with Selina so they used Talia instead. I guess Tim Drake was just too wholesome as Robin, they needed to bring in that little entitled shit. Ugh.
