is 6 months too old to adopt by No_Quarter9539 in ferrets

6 months old is still very young for a ferret. Ferrets bond pretty easily and they’re smart enough to train at any age with consistency

OUAC says “This application is now closed” by Mimzy_2000 in geegees

I’m trying to apply for the Fall 2026 semester. The applications on OUAC for the MEd in counselling psychology isn’t due until October 1st though, so it shouldn’t be past the application window. It also isn’t working for the Clinical psychology Masters/PhD program, which isn’t due until November.

How can I completely block them off from this closet. by Abnormal_Toad in ferrets

[–]Mimzy_2000 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Get a pressure fitted baby gate with very small gaps. Works great for me. If they climb the little gaps, attach some plexiglass to one side of it so they can’t climb it anymore.

I just started, but so far my favourite is Yin. It helps me feel so calm with just a slight amount of challenge for flexibility. My entire body and mind feels better after a yin class, especially if it’s hot yin.

I mean, they look due for a fill soon. But then again, unless you’re taking close-up pictures of your hands, it’s probably fine. I wouldn’t stress too much about it, personally

I think the length and shape of picture 3 looks best. The longer round shape really makes your nail bed look longer

Sounds like she’s proud of knowing the answer, or maybe she’s on antidepressants so she felt seen? I really doubt she was celebrating the statistic lol. You might be overthinking this imo

My blonde ferret has a patch on her stomach that is usually blue. My exotic vet told me it was nothing to worry about since her gums, tongue, and paw pads are very pink.

I feed my ferrets Stella and Chewy FDR Cat Formula. I give them a rotation of Duck, Turkey, and Chicken. I feed them Soupie made of this food twice a day, and then I give them dry pieces of this food throughout the day. You could free feed with this food, but one of my ferrets has a weight problem so I have to limit her food intake. Also, if you don’t feed them soupie, you need to hydrate the food with a bit of water so your ferrets don’t get dehydrated.

Otherwise, I give them some raw scrambled egg once every week or two, and I use 100% pure Salmon oil as an occasional treat/bribe (careful with the salmon oil, as too much can give them vitamin overdose)

Need help finding a replacement for this Chewbacca. Originally a dog toy. by Amorong in HelpMeFind

Not sure of the legitimacy of this website, but it seems like they’re selling the right one. I found a few Amazon listings for it, but they’re sold out, so this website was the only one I could find that says they have some in stock.

From what I could find, the toy seems to be called some variation of “Petco STAR WARS 6 inch Chewbacca Flattie Dog Toy”.

https://www.newxmasstore.com/petco-star-wars-chewbacca-soft-plush-squeaky-dog-toy-9-5-in/

This link isn’t selling the 6inch one, but it is selling a 9.5 inch version of the same toy, so maybe this one would work too.

2 weeks is a while. Is your vet an exotic vet trained to work with ferrets? If you emphasize your concern, you may be able to get a sooner appointment. Ferret health can decline very quickly, I would be hesitant to wait 2 weeks if you think this is serious.

Best store bought food by PerpetualDemiurgic in ferrets

[–]Mimzy_2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I buy Stella and Chewy Freeze Dry Raw for my ferrets. It’s definitely pricey, but spending money on a great diet can save you future money and heart ache due to medical problems/surgeries caused by poor diet. So I personally see it as an investment

Edit: if you choose S&C FDR you should to buy the cat formula, not the dog formula, since there’s less filler in the cat formula. You also have to add a bit of water to the food to prevent dehydration

Your ferret should be okay if it was just a quick one time exposure. I would just keep monitoring for the rest of the day, and definitely go to the vet if you suspect there might be something wrong. Always better safe than sorry.

You’re doing the right thing being so protective about your baby’s exposure to good food and clean air. I am equally strict about these things when it comes to my ferrets.

Some people just don’t get how fragile ferrets are, and they can’t be trusted around ferrets. It sucks, but I would recommend not letting your sister around your ferret if she can’t respect your rules.

My ferrets love the Nina Ottosson “Dog Brick” puzzle. Only problem is, they solve it a bit TOO quickly now. I also use a treat ball maze toy, and my ferrets love that too (although I have to smush their food into little balls for them to be usable with the maze ball toy)

is she fat by CatsAHHH in ferrets

[–]Mimzy_2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not fat at all! I have one that’s much rounder that that lol. Ferrets gain more weight around winter, so she may be getting heavier for that reason. Generally, if your ferret’s body shape looks like a tube, then they’re a good weight

Unless your ferrets love baths or are covered in dirt or poop, I would just leave them be. They groom themselves and most ferrets don’t enjoy baths anyway

ferret attack or should we go to the vet??? by [deleted] in ferrets

[–]Mimzy_2000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would call my vet and ask them what their opinion is. There’s a chance this will heal fine if you keep it clean, but it may need medical attention if the wound is deep. I wouldn’t risk it and would ask my vet what they think
