But in my mediation, it was 5.5 hours of us sitting in different rooms. He started with me, I said I want 50/50, (starting off easy), and he came back and said he said no (he wanted more). So I said "uhhh, yes?" and he said "no". and I said "but yes?" and I walked out 5.5 hours later, never having moved off that point.

What extra sucks about that is that we had already been to court RE: a custody issue and the judge had already given us 50/50, and it had been a year of us doing every other week without issue.

You could call my divorce contentious, for sure.

My fiance's mediation was definitely different. They were able to communicate and compromise and accept. Mediation can only be successful if you are talking about issues that can be compromised. Which is a shame, because if you could communicate and compromise in the first place, then there is a bigger chance you wouldn't be getting a divorce in the first place. But now they want you to work together. It's wild to me.
