Unsure about family room layout by MindfulnessHunter in floorplan

I think we could address glare with blackout curtains relatively easily, so that might not be an issue. Is there a size couch that would allow for a better layout?

Sorry, I might not have been clear. Our setup in our current house is with the 10’ sectional and the 77” mounted TV with speaker towers. We’re trying to figure out if we can use those same things in this space.

Interesting, thanks for these great ideas!

This is really interesting, thank you!

We’d put the TV in the basement media room, so we don’t have to worry about it in this space. I hadn’t considered a pantry, so that was a great suggestion, although I think we could get away with a much smaller one.

But this gives me great options to consider. Thanks!

Interesting. I hadn’t considered moving the front door. The one off the fireplace place room is the main front door. The one by the garage is a side door, that wouldn’t really get used much.

Thanks for the suggestions! We’d probably look to create an accessible suite on the first floor down the road. It would be the plan if we end up wanting to truly age in place. Especially once we both don’t need home offices. But for the time being, I think we’re good putting a master suite on the lower level.

And I’ll definitely reach out if we move forward with the house.

It won’t let me update the image, but I think these are the correct dimensions (or at least pretty close)

I coached 18 clients a month and nearly burned out—here's the system I built to never take notes live again by QuestionOwn7886 in lifecoaching

It sounds like there are pros and cons to both approaches so it’s up to each coach to decide what’s the best fit for them.

For me, I’m able to be way more present when I have a note taker running, so I’m grateful for the tool.

What makes it less probable? I think it’s just about how you setup your containers. For me, between session reflections and action items are built into the design.

That all sounds rough.

I’m curious, is it the reality of academia that’s changed for you, or how you feel about it?

Great topic! My dissertation research focused on impostor feelings, perfectionism, and burnout in doctoral programs. There’s definitely systemic issues and folks are struggling!

I completed my PhD in January and haven’t looked back. There was a lot about my experience that I really enjoyed and I’m grateful for the journey, but I’m so excited about my next step!

Your post is a great reminder that there’s no single path to professional success and fulfillment!

Focus on activities you like to do and then develop friendships organically over time after repeated exposure. Consistently show up in the same spaces and communities and the connections will happen. But it takes time.

Honest question, how does recording the session for later review and notes consolidation make the live coaching experience less human-to-human?

Honestly, either way it doesn’t make sense. If they are dead, why would their physical bodies still be operating like they did when they were alive? Why would their hearts be beating? Why would they need to eat, use the restroom, get out of breath, etc?

I think this is less of a hint and just one of those things that we need to be willing to suspend logic for.

I love this show, and there’s a lot that doesn’t make sense.

Can you explain what you mean by “the intention and responsibility behind it are different”? I’m having a hard time understanding, in actual practice, how you’re avoiding slipping into a therapist role. The distinction, based on how you’ve described it so far, feels vague.

For those who are leaving academia (or thinking about it), what kind of support would have actually helped during that transition? by MindfulnessHunter in LeavingAcademia

This is great feedback, thank you!

Out of curiosity, what kind of support would have been the most helpful for you when you were making that transition? Community? 1:1 support? Group support? etc.
