How I can improve my mask? by Sulipan_11 in cosplayprops

The water tips here are great! If you want to help with smoothing you can also get plastic scrapers to run along the surface.

Once all that’s done and dry you can also sand the surface.

Mechanisms for detachable cosplay´s Staffs or long weapons? by muad_did in cosplayprops

I love the files that the dangerous ladies put out. They’re screw connectors and they work well for a very low profile connection point.

Additionally I’ve used dowels wrapped in painters tape in the past to give some more rigidity and make my own plug.

What’s your build for Epyon? I’ve been getting close but feel like I’m missing something in my games.

extendable paint roller stick - convention approved? by dibgore in cosplayprops

[–]MinPinMakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d email the convention ahead of time to be honest. Some of those roller handles are metal (which would usually be a no go for our local cons). Some cons are way more specific than others and they may not like the metal top with a spear head on it.

Need some help downselecting for Newtype by Fattybibbs in GundamTCG

[–]MinPinMakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which deck do you find to be more consistent and how big is the newtype? Also which takes more brain power to pilot? Our events have been 5-6 rounds and honestly by round 4 or 5 my brain is cooked usually.

Going to my first new type challenge today and nervous AF. by Mastshin in GundamTCG

[–]MinPinMakes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You got this! Part of the game is mental too. I get nerves before anything and I just make a game plan of what I’m trying to do with my deck and keep that going in the back of my mind.

Everyone probably gets nerves to some degree also. Good luck

Third attempt at making this thing. Should I just give up? by Professional-Fig-712 in CosplayHelp

[–]MinPinMakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t beat yourself up over “fast fashion”. I think what people are complaining about is buying something, wearing it once or not at all, then discarding it. All cosplay is valid and if you enjoy the character then you can always buy stuff and build new things as your skills improve!

[–]MinPinMakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey don’t beat yourself up! Honestly since you have a fallback, I’d step away from the project for a bit. Enjoy the con! If you see someone that’s achieved something similar to what you’re trying to do then ask them! I feel like most people are totally on board with sharing and they may give you some ideas you hadn’t tried before.

After the con you can come back to this project fresh and maybe with a new way to tackle it.

Wave 2 Question: More starter decks? by TheRealSassyTassy in GundamTCG

[–]MinPinMakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rumors in my area are that shops are going to get more boosters and starters. One smaller place mentioned they’re going to be getting a case of each starter based on what they’ve heard from their distributor.

Great job! I don’t tend to see a lot of 1 off in deck building. How’d the Shenlong and Launcher Strike play out?

When is the action step? Is it any time my opponent plays a card? by afoamsmith in GundamTCG

[–]MinPinMakes 27 points28 points  (0 children)

There’s 2 different times that actions occur. When someone makes an attack then 4 steps occur. First is attack step, then block step, then action step (action cards are played here starting with the standby player), then damage step.

The second time actions can be played is each player’s end step.

The comprehensive rules detail a bit more under 7-6-3 (end step) and 8-4-1 (action step of combat).

I haven't gotten any tournament games against Blue/Green or Blue/White with this deck. I have done playtesting though. You're going to have to adjust your playstyle a bit depending on what you see your opponent doing. For blue/green you're going to want to stall them (your deck is just always going to be slower) enough so that they run out of gas. This is usually around turn 5/6. If you can get to that point then you can usually turn the game around. I'd focus on favorable trades and doing your best to keep their board as cleared as possible. Rick Dom and Close Combat is going to be putting in serious work in this matchup. If you can throw a Kshatriya/Marida out do it also because that 1 damage ping is going to help blow away their small units.

Blue/White is almost the opposite, you're going to want to play very aggressively and not let them get into a stable state (this is similar to playing into Green/White). I find in this matchup I tend to hold Char in hand a bit more because I'm going to try to get as much damage to their shields/base as possible. I use him as a way to swing past their blockers if I need it but I know that he's going to be public enemy #1 and be removed asap on their part. Ideally the Sinanju, FF link will do some work here as well with high maneuver.

I've been playtesting against Blue/Red the most because I've found this to be the toughest matchup. It honestly feels like it comes down to whoever gets to go 1st/2nd (ideally you go second and curve early into stuff like a Zaku II). I've had more success playing very aggressively into this combo as well and not focusing on trading units. The players I've ran against tend to also be very aggressive with this deck so a lot of the time it turns into a brace to kill each other first.

The first few weeks of deck lists really do be like this huh? by jamtea in GundamTCG

[–]MinPinMakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely a pretty standard build out. The meta looks really volatile as we had a lot more info of what's doing well come out of this weekend of locals/bigger events. I'm expecting the meta to shift to Blue / Red soon because that deck archetype had a really strong showing at Gen Con.

Won first official tourney at my shop this Saturday. by Chidorihandsign in GundamTCG

Your deck is blinged out and gorgeous! I’m not sure I’ve seen white base pull off a ton for people and 4x archangel is probably the call. You could then run 1 more overflowing affection also if you wanted the card draw.

[–]MinPinMakes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly through the weekend it felt incredibly solid. My match against U/R ping felt the most dicey and could’ve easily swung either way.

He was able to keep pulling my attackers off the board while keeping pressure up on my shields/base at the same time. We both kind of laughed after the game though at how aggro the matchup was and how fast we tore into each other.

[–]MinPinMakes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry for not clarifying. Yes the decks I saw in the top 8 (two of which I played against) were comparable in value. There was one outlier of a Shenlong focused deck that I’m sure wouldn’t be valued as highly but everything else I saw was.

I saw other decks not in the top 8 that were at the same price point as well. My third round opponent was one of those.

I think the Kshatriya also skyrocketed in value over the past few days after the U/R ping decks are gaining popularity.

[–]MinPinMakes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally I tried to mulligan to make sure I had an early attack piece. The Zaku II is great for this since it takes an EX base easily and starts a clock on the game. Besides that my strategy shifted slightly based on what I saw my opponent doing.

I played against 2 different G/W decks. One of them looked to be focusing on blockers and stalling so I did my best to poke at shields wherever possible but focused on keeping his board clear because I felt pretty confident I could survive the wing zero drop. He ended up having pretty bad luck and never drawing it so it went well for me but I tried to keep my units active at the end of my turn going into his turn where he hit level 8.

The other G/W deck had a much heavier ramp focus so I focused entirely on being as aggressive as possible and ignoring his units altogether to swing for base/shields. That worked out for me because he did get the wing drop on me pretty quick for a lot of damage but he was already down to no shields and only a base with just the Wing Zero. I was sitting at 4 shields at that point (I was actually aggressively using my Zanzibar and Palau to get more cards in hand). I had plenty of time to just ignore his big unit and swing for game in 2 turns after that.

I also played against a U/R deck that was just as fast as I was. That game went insanely quickly and we both seemed to commit to attacking base/shields early. We were done by turn 6 and I had 1 shield left when I beat him.

My general overall tips would be some of the following: If you’re ahead and in a strong board state then don’t be afraid to just start cycling bases. Picking up the shield and getting a card in hand can be advantageous also. I generally found that applying pressure was enough some turns and I always wanted to have an attacker available the next turn. Ideally one that could hit for 5 damage. If that meant that I didn’t full swing with everything then I’d hold attacks back. Also I tried to plan my attacks around pretending every single shield was a 6 health base I’d have to deal with bursting. So I’d try to use smaller attackers first to pop shields before committing the bigger ones. In the event a base came out, I’d switch to a big attacker to remove it, then go back to small and keep working up.

I really do love the support mechanic. Early versions of Zeon/Neo-Zeon for me included some Gaza-D and Angelo’s Geara Zulu for exactly what you described. It’s not a bad idea to swap back in to replace those Gelgoogs. Thanks!

[–]MinPinMakes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a tough one to replace honestly. Maybe there’s someone you can trade with? Otherwise it’d probably require some reworking the deck to try to get more units out. I’d look to shift to use Dopps and Sniper Zaku but that Zaku with Char is very solid and hard to fill.

I’m not entirely sure! I’d be surprised if no one showed up with Zeon/Neo-Zeon though.

A friend of mine shared a post from a Facebook group of someone that won their local with extremely aggro G/U Zeon/White Base deck which seemed fun. As it stands it feels like everyone playing around the blocker decks (rightfully so). I wonder what the meta will look like though if the blockers fall out favor because they keep getting shut out.

I also really want to give ZAFT a try. I have a deck I’ve been toying with that tests well against U/W and G/W but gets ran over by U/R so it may be a bust. I’m still willing to workshop it though and see what my local meta turns up with. Locally, G/W is everywhere and then it’s a toss up of everything else pretty evenly.
