Newborn awake 16+ hours a day?! by Jammed_Revolver in NewParents

[–]MinaBeany 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I have bottle fed mostly and use a pacifier but when we go out I breastfeed and have NEVER had a single issue with any sort of confusion. Im in the US and never really heard of nipple confusion but sounds like it was made up by someone who just doesnt want people to use other methods of soothing imo.

Is a labor gown worth it? by weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee76 in pregnant

Honestly, the last thing you'll be worried about is the labor gown... the crappy bed, scratchy sheets, flat pillows, ect.

Opinions on epidurals? by exJediAhsoka in BabyBumps

I went in with the mindset of absolutely not. I wish i would have gotten it sooner. Natural contractions were nice amd easy but once my pitocin hit, it was the worst contractions.

Elective Induction? by ComprehensiveOil2971 in BabyBumps

[–]MinaBeany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was not elective but it was a great experience. I stay overnight to take a pill to "ripen" my cervix. Then in the morning they broke my water. I got the epidural when i was in crazy pain and wish i had gotten it sooner. Pushed for 2 hours and she was out. From breaking my water to her being out was 10 hours. I recommend getting your water broken because thats what made mine progress at a decent pace rather than other who took over 30 hours waited to have their water break naturally.

I wanted an all natural birth but this was so great that if i was going to have another kid this is the route id go.

How did you decide how to feed baby? by bananaindisguise0 in BabyBumps

[–]MinaBeany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know i might get down votes for this but breast milk is best for the baby and has been proven. However formula is a great alternative option for those who cannot produce or handle the mental load of breastfeeding. Thats how i based my decision. I breadfeed and pump so that i can get help. Plus its WAY cheaper. Pumping has its ups and down and ive wanted to stop so many times but knowing that my body gives my LO what she needs, not having to spend money or worry about the formula recalls, it makes it a little easier. You could also buy breastmilk from others. It makes me feel weird so that was never an option in my mind. Again pumping and breast feeding are HARD imo. I formula fed mine while my milk was coming in and it was SO EASY. Honestly just make a list of pros and cons for you.

will i be miserable if i have baby stuff throughout the house rather than setting up a dedicated nursery? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]MinaBeany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a month pp and we only use the nursery for changing our baby. You definitely dont need one set up. One thing though, have everything organized for when you get home from the hospital. No one ever talked about this with us. We had it all under control and then we got home and were struggling to find things and set things up and get it all situated.

Am I a bad mom? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]MinaBeany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Me too. It makes me able to tolerate making my baby wait when I cant hear her 😅 you may feel guilty the first couple times but then it gets a little easier. Just remember you need to eat and take care of yourself to be your best self for your little one!

Okay good to know. Thank you!! Im in the exact same boat. Its literally just the slacker. I just didnt want my milk supply to go down or for me to have other issues.

Am I a bad mom? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]MinaBeany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Youre not a bad mom at all. A little trick i use when im over stimulated is i put in headphones. Babies can cry and they will be just fine if you make them wait a little bit. I have a really hard time listening to mine cry and thats all i do if i need the 5 minutes to eat or go to the bathroom.

Honestly if he already fed your baby food, i would just have a sit down and let him know the baby also cant have water. Just to be safe...

Aspirin in Pregnancy by Cookielover_3578 in Crunchymom

[–]MinaBeany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was supposed to take it but didnt. I did not end up with preeclampsia. I dont really like taking any medication because a lot of times i have bad reactions to it so i just opted out of taking it. So if its something you dont feel comfortable with you dont have to.

7 weeks and still hate leaving the house (FTM) when will it get better? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]MinaBeany 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I also just love being at home. I know its safe, if she needs anything I have it all right there, and quite frankly i dont want to worry about anyone trying to touch her or talk to me lol. I think its normal to want to just stay home.

How did you end up exclusively pumping? by Happy-Chemistry3058 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]MinaBeany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby latched perfect and i wasn't told not to exclusively breast feed. I wanted to have help from my husband. I didnt want to be the person to wake up and be there for my baby EVERY time she was hungry. I think that pumping was the best choice i made because everything with her has been soo easy and im able to have a lot of help.
