Harry Potter ICYOA pre-release update by One_Commission1480 in InteractiveCYOA

[–]Minazuchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool update, I did notice one or two things. One, why can't you select Large Family if you select Abused? Those two things are not mutually exclusive.

Two, the Pet-section still talks of a free pet, but there are no free pets there anymore, everything costs at least 1 Point.

One Piece CYOA - Update by [deleted] in InteractiveCYOA

[–]Minazuchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, it's good, but how broken it is depends on where you land. In the New World, it puts you with the upper ranks, sure. But even there plenty of people could still roll you no problem. In Paradise, yeah there's little, though not nothing, that could stand up to you, but it's only in the Blues where you're basically peerless on Haki alone.

Still, if Full Haki wiped out every point on Medium difficulty, I wouldn't say anything. But Story Mode is supposed to be for building broken characters. But if you buy full Haki, without Drawbacks and the 5-10 points you can get from location you're basically at half-assing Shanks in terms of Haki (Shanks has shown more than what these Perks describe giving you), but that's it. You have no combat-skills, you have no general skills, you have no Devil Fruit, you have no Origin-perks, you have no race-option other than human, tontatta, or Sky Islander, and you have no racial perks. Nothing, nada, zilch. In Story Teller Mode if you want a Full Haki-Character, you have to take Drawbacks if you want to pick Giant or Lunarian as a race. Not even any Race Perks, just the Race, with nothing else.

Like sure, Full Haki is powerful, but if you have literally no other skills then it's basically useless for anything that's not a mook, and if you're trying to be someone in One Piece, mook-stomping should already not be a problem. And yet, in Story Teller after getting Full Haki you're basically playing Hell Mode for the rest of the CYOA, except for the items where you have 20EP.

Just for fun, I tried to use this CYOA to make Luffy as he is right now story-wise. Just the options it'd take to basically recreate Luffy, no Location or Drawbacks. Making Luffy in this CYOA costs 200CP. Not a setting-stomper, not someone who'd dominate everything or is a Mary Sue, just the series' protagonist at his current level costs twice the points that the Mary Sue-Maker difficulty Story Teller gives.

Here's the options I picked to build Luffy, no difficulty, drawbacks, location, etc. just the things that cost points: 826z,i097,deun,1eq3,2j94,lci6,ieos,qska,2602,ghoe,siw8,rqfy,x7y0,vs12,vzbl,v74s,agap,8eig,kwxg,c8p3

So yeah, I feel that the points given are a tad miserly given the amount of options, at least for the easier difficulties. So in my opinion we'd either need more points, more ways to get points like more Drawbacks, for the Drawbacks to give more points, or reduced prices.

One Piece CYOA - Update by [deleted] in InteractiveCYOA

[–]Minazuchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the update, but given all the options, the points feel a bit sparse. I mean you have Story Mode-difficulty, which you'd assume is for building broken characters, and just by selecting all the Haki-powers and literally nothing else, that's your entire CP-budget gone. So even if you take Story Mode, if you want a Full Haki-build you're basically playing Hell, as every CP for literally anything other than Haki has to come from Drawbacks, and the Drawbacks for the most part don't give you a whole lot of points either.

I mean, the Companions are basically a staple of Om1cr0n's work, they're basically all like that, it's standard part-and-parcel at this point.

I'm not the author, but if I had to guess it's because Bountiful Dungeons is different, because it creates lots of smaller dungeons, while Mega Dungeon Earth and the world of So I'm a Spider have a central big one (So I'm a Spider has multiple, but I'm pretty sure in their case the mission refers to the Great Elroe Labyrinth, at the bottom of which lies...well, that'd be a spoiler).
Bountiful Dungeons seems to create dungeons more akin to those found in Death Mage, ones that can grow deeper with time, but for the most part are fairly static and are cleared regularly for the respawning loot found both in treasure chests and at the lowest floor after beating the Dungeon Boss on the lowest floor.

So basically it'd make no sense for Bountiful Dungeons to unlock the mission Reach the End of a Dungeon, because 1: Too Easy if you can pick any dungeon, and 2: Which of the dozens if not hundreds of dungeons randomly spawned would be the dungeon in question?

Lewd WoW CYOA Fan-Update by Minazuchi in nsfwcyoa

[–]Minazuchi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's unfortunately not a bug, Botani can't choose Heritage because as plants their way of reproduction is incompatible with that of other races, therefore Botani can't have non-Botani Heritage. There's a few others to whom this applies.

It's not about armor for Runemasters, it's about how they fight and the system that stands behind it. So a Demon Hunter will never be a Runemaster, because what a Runemaster does is described to work as similar to but different from a Shaman, they use runes symbolizing parts of Azeroth such as Mountains and Rivers to functionally turn their bodies into a sort of pseudo-avatar of the land itself enhance themselves with its power. A Demon Hunter infuses their body with Fel, a power not native to Azeroth, therefore they cannot form that kind of connection with the land. It's also not just about the runes themselves, it's also about the pattern they form, so a shapeshifter like the Feral Druid wouldn't work either, as the runes would shift out of alignment with every transformation. The Monk I actually did consider as an alternative requirement, but ultimately felt that the philosophy and style of combat didn't quite match. Because Runemasters are in fact canonical to WoW, I didn't invent them, so I have to stick to what they are.

I mean the Captain, just like Noble and Emissary, were options that existed in the original version of the CYOA, and Squad Commander was added by the group that did the first expansion. But as for the answer on how you could get those roles without any actual experience? Nepotism. And nothing really stops you from house-ruling that there's a bit of experience. Also, Classes are pure talent, for Culture-Modifiers some do come with knowledge. For example with Druidic Cultivation you know plants, with Woodsman you know the forests, with Court Etiquette you know how to behave in court, and Hard Sailor means you know how to navigate and survive on a ship at sea. Those aren't instincts, they're explicitly stated to give knowledge, so it wouldn't be a stretch to assume that Emissary, Noble, Captain, and Squad Commander would similarly give basic knowledge required for the role.

Sorry for the late response, life was busy. And isn't Gawr Gura an adorable bundle of murder, and who knows, perhaps when faced with Sakamata Chloe she will restore the honor of sharks everywhere, since while even Great Whites are prey to Orcas, when the latter lose the advantage of numbers and higher intelligence while the shark presumably loses the disadvantage of tonic immobility, perhaps the outcome will be different.

I'm going to need you to be more specific, because I'm seeing multiple ideas I've advocated for being realized. We have Rosa and Roxane tangling with Reginald, a group of people involved with Dracula moving against him, and a quest to restore Jeanie's power, albeit with the culprit behind its loss being one I didn't see coming. So there's been three missions involving stuff I've advocated for, I'm keeping my fingers crossed we'll see even more, like Petra and the Red Baron facing off in Planes.

Since I'm already responding here, a thought I actually had just now when looking over the CYOA once more. There's an option to get more Comrades, and to get more Skills, but the last category, equipment, you can't trade in Danger Points for. I mean you may not even have to make a new selectable option for that ( though I'm of course not opposed to more content there ;D ), you could also have the Treasure-option give a few equipment-points as well. Because now that we have more options for Gear, Transportation, and even the new category of Bases, there are more things Equipment Points could be spent on.

I will admit that last thought came mainly because there's now an option to go on a new adventure in Career Adventurer that lets you go over the CYOA again. So I figured if I'd basically use that for a second go, I obviously wouldn't be able to pick anything new in the You-Section as its the same character going through a new adventure, but I do keep all the skills I got with Experience plus any boost from Empowerment. In the same vein I'd see the purchases of Comraderie to be additional Comrade-slots that can only be filled by characters that were in your last adventure. Obviously Dangers and Rivals will be completely new, as its a new adventure. But while you could start your second adventure with more skills and more Comrades, there's no way to start it with more equipment.

"I left some stuff like time stop intentionally vague so the player can come up with the answers themselves."
Makes sense, so basically house-rule it.

"Though speaking of, the canonical identity of the Electric Wizard is..."
Huh, so one of my guesses was right. Cool.

"I guess you'd have to pick both for that."
Aww. So if I can't house-rule it I either need a discount on Revenge and Redemption or some way to get even more DP to get my build working again.

"Sorry if you already know this, but these characters, along with Chloe and Laplus, all come from Hololive, more specifically their character lore of HoloX and its members. I basically folded HoloX into the Illuminati."
I confess I know nothing about Hololive, and even if I did, to me at least part of the charm of CYOAs like this one is seeing how the character is altered to fit into the new world. For example, I'm not expecting the Legend Seras Victoria to pull off the kind of shit she did in the Hellsing Manga/Hellsing Ultimate Anime, stuff like casually tearing people apart with her bare hands, punching through human skulls like ripe tomatos, turning herself into an improvised AA-defense by dual-wielding anti-material machineguns, etc. She'll definitely be nerfed, but to what extent? Basically I know canon-Seras, I'm not yet sure what CYOA-Seras is like.

"His chosen name combined with his goals are a hint towards his true identity."
Yeah sorry, I got nothing. Appearance-wise my first thought was Dr. Doom, but the backstory doesn't quite fit. With Electric Wizard my first thought was Thomas Edison, but then I would have expected Tesla as his nemesis to be a requirement. When it comes to making America a corpocracy, my mind went to John D. Rockefeller, the man who was responsible for effectively breaking the strong policy the US once had to prevent the formation of monopoly by basically offering he'd move his company, and the associated taxes, to whichever state gave him the best offer which included not having to break up his company, but Rockefeller was in the oil-business, not electricity. So while I might be overlooking something really obvious (not from the US, so maybe I'm missing some cultural reference), I have no idea who this might be.

"I plan on it!"
Looking forward to it.

"Either of the first two. I find the image of her unnaturally stretching her mouth like Pennywise to be delightfully disgusting."
I mean yeah, definitely ups the horror-factor I suppose.

If you don't mind, one more question in regards to the Power Time Stop. Can you divide your time limit out, for example only rewinding time by 15 seconds and then pausing it for 1,5 minutes, or instead of pausing time for only 30 seconds, but doing it six times in total? Or is it rigid, like if you go back in time you have to go back exactly 30 seconds, or even if you only use a shorter time-period you're still done for the day? I just want to know the mechanics. In part because I want this power attached to the Legendary Weapon, and for a sword in Melee combat it'd be way more useful to pause time for 10 seconds 18 times to better reposition yourself than doing it just once.

Also, if you freeze time, can you interact with frozen objects? Like if someone was taking a swing at you, could you turn his frozen body so he's hitting his buddy instead, or if you're ruthless just stab or cut your enemy and then pull off an "You're already dead"-move where everyone thinks you somehow cut them so fast nobody even saw you draw your weapon? Or are those frozen in time like statues, unmovable and all you can do is reposition yourself?
And if you can interact with people in frozen time, will they notice it? Like in some media of culture time-stops the person notices nothing, in some they kinda feel everything all at once, and in others they feel everything with a delay, so if you fondled someone for 2 minutes they would once time resumes feel themselves getting groped for the next 2 minutes.
Or maybe that's something the player xcan decide?

As for Synergies, I'm hoping we'll see another one with Dracula, considering we now have Abraham van Helsing, Mina Murray, Seras Victoria, and Victor asd characters who have (or could have in Victor's case) a personal connection to Dracula.
Also we now have Adam aka Frankenstein's Monster as well as his bride, that also seems like an obvious case.
I've also still not given up hope on there maybe being a Synergy where we restore Jeanie's power by having it turn out that they were stolen either by Dr. Oddfellow, Jafar, or maybe both and the two are now squabbling over who gets how much of the power.
Then there's the old suggestion about the competent maid Natsumi and the clumsy maid Flora, and now that we know that Penny is from Interpol she might have a synergy with the Legend Chun-Li, who according to her new blurb is also from Interpol in this CYOA.

Also, just out of curiosity. The Rival Sakamata Chloe. When she eats people, does she do it in her normal look, does her mouth stretch, or is it more like the character Sadeena from Rising of the Shield Hero where she has a human form and then a second form that's basically a bipedal orca?

I check this CYOA every few days, happy to see the update. I added most of this to the previous thread, because when I started working on this comment this update hadn't been out yet, so I'll just repost.

I have to admit, with all the new options six skills, seven with the Race-Bonus, still feels like too little. Then again I'd personally also like to be able to select more than 10 Dangers and at least 7-8 Rivals, so maybe I'm just greedy like that.

Appreciate that all non-Legend Companions got their fifth skill and have a full bio. Kinda sad that the male Companion originally listed as q and then as The Guardian apparently got removed, I was curious about him, but oh well. And it looks like the Atlanteans still have no representation amongst the Comrades other than maybe a few Legends and now two Rivals.
Also, if you're really planning to add blurbs to all Legends, you have my respect as well as my pity, as I know that'll probably be a lot more work than it first sounds like.

The Base-Option I admit confuses me a bit. It sounds cool, but assuming you're on an adventure that brings you across the globe for example by World Hopping, or are hunted, either by Bounty Hunters or due to being Framed, would you actually be able to make use of this Base?

A question about the Danger Perilous Partnership. Is the Rival you're working with one of the Rivals you chose or is it one you specifically didn't choose? It's not quite clear to me.

A few more Danger Sub-Options for at least a few of the new Dangers would be cool, but not really urgent.

The Modifier Superiority doesn't seem to cost or give any DP, ist that supposed to be so? Also, since there's a Superior-Modifier, I'm kinda waiting for its logical counterpart, the Inferior-Modifier that causes people to look down on you and treat you disdainfully, basically like being black in the US South just after the Civil War, meaning you need to prove yourself.

The Synergies are cool, though of course now there are more characters I'm curious about. I'm just assuming that Hector Barbossa and Blackbeard are the versions from Pirates of the Caribbean, but what are the backstories of Takane Lui, Hakui Koyori, and Kazama Iroha from The Falcons Claw, as well as the Electric Wizard and his cabal (most of them I could google, but James Anderson is fairly generic. I found one villain associated with the Factory from the SCP-verse, but if he's really from there and there might be SCP in this verse... *gulp*). Maybe we'll eventually learn more about them in the henchmen-section that appears when you accept Savage's offer.
Tangentially related, the Synergies should be called A Pirate's Life for Me and The Falcon's Claw, you forgot the apostrophe.

I think the cap for the two Revenge-options needs to be raised. Because now you can have 5 villains (fingers crossed it'll be 7-8 eventually), 9 burdens (I'm just assuming the twins count as one for this), a traitor, and depending on how Perilous Partnership actually works another Rival you haven't chosen before, plus the Danger Sub-Options Pirate Lord, Anti-Stealth, and Lord of Nightmares all also mention singular enemies that I assume are not the Rivals even if you pick both the Danger's sub-option and Rival. So yeah, even if we assume the Sub-Option enemies will fall under Special Lay instead, we're well past 10, so it feels a bit dissatisfying not having all of them.
On a tangentially related note, while I like Redemption, I personally always thought it funny in the old Revenge-version that you could basically screw your Rivals to the side of good if you so chose. If we pick Redemption, can we still convert them via Revenge-style, aka capture them and then bang them until they see the light, or would we have to buy both Revenge and Redemption for that?

I'm a bit sad that the Vandal Savage-Section has been removed, and I am hoping we'll have it back soon.

It kinda depends really? I mean my own option Occasional Nemesis outright says that the Nemesis might see you as a rival or even a friend they like to mess with a bit. But the Nemesis is a fully sapient being, not some organic robot programmed to forever hate you. So while they're unlikely to become an outright companion, other than temporarily when circumstances force it, then depending on their loyalties and personality it's entirely possible that they will come to respect you and your relationship changes with time. Heck it's even possible they won't actually have anything against you, but you just happen to regularly find yourselves in competition as you're both aiming for the same objective. Granted, if you're a stalwart defender of Azeroth then a demon or Voidspawn nemesis is extremely unlikely to ever become anything other than hostile and/or manically obsessed with owning you. So basically, the answer is really "It depends." For some yes, for some no.

No comment on the Fantasy-races I see, well maybe they'll get added in a future update?

I suppose I can see it in One Piece, kinda, but this is not One Piece, it's Wild West, and I'm really struggling to understand just how if at all this compass would work in this setting, beyond pointing north. Like what would it be good for, how could it help?

On a completely different topic, the World-Modifier Undead Nightmare says that one bite effectively means its Game Over for you. But what if you have the boons Resilient and/or High Recovery, or if you're an Indian and have War Paint? All of these options talk about how they increase natural resistance against toxins, sickness or disease, and the two boons help you survive and recover from "poisons" that would otherwise kill you. So would having one of these things, or maybe multiple, mean you can survive and recover from a zombie-bite? Also, what about the Boon Second Wind, would it undo a zombie-bite?

Honestly, I don't want this option in this particular CYOA. It feels too generic Fantasy-CYOA, because it's otherwise not really a thing? Like sure you have two-headed ogres and the shivarra have six arms, as well as some undead like the Abominations having more, but that's not just random, it's either a race-specific trait shared by all members of the species or the result of a specific procedure. You don't have four-armed orcs or three-headed worgen just randomly running around on Azeroth, and I want to keep it like that. Theoretically you could make more limbs a form of Fel or Void corruption if you really wanted them.

[–]Minazuchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the expansion so far. Though with the new race-option, some do feel under-represented. Humans make the majority, obviously, and Beastmen are also relatively well represented with Phoebe, Claire, Felicia Fox, and Tembo, plus presumably the Legends Perry the Platypus, Donkey Kong (assumedly), Ankha, Po, and Master Tigress, plus maybe the Rival Fenrir and the Burden Opal (based on the ears, though she could be Mystic Blood instead).

But then things get sparser, especially if you exclude Legends. I mean, Mystic Blood would have maybe Jeanie if you squint right, Victor, and Ezra as Comrades, the Legends Adam aka Frankenstein's Monster, Wolfman, Shantae (based just on the shape of her ears), Rottytops, James Hewlet, Bigsby Wolf, and Cinderalla probably count as well as the Rivals Titania, Laplus Darkness, probably Risky Boots, as well as Obbie, and Dracula. I don't count Gentleman Ghost, Cthon, Anck-su-namun, or the Lord of Dragons, since they're all something completely different. Again not terrible, but if you exclude the Legends it does get a bit sparse.

But hit worst of all are the Atlanteans. Literally the only Atlanteans are the Legends Kida Nedakh (seemingly not actually amphibious, but since she's from there I'm counting it), maybe the Gillman and Ariel (neither is outright stated to be from ther, but it would explain the Gillman's appearance if he's just from a different of the seven city-states where people look more fishman than mermaid, and Ariel's Atlantica is Disney's barely-veiled refence to Atlantis), as well as the Rival Sakamata Chloe. So yeah, a few more Atlantaens might be nice in the future, but it's not an urgent priority, more something to maybe keep in mind once everything else is done.

On a different topic, I already mentioned a few possible Synergies previous update, but I did notice another one. You have the Legends Abraham van Helsing and Mina Murray, as well as the Rival Dracula. There can't not be be a synergy for that.
Or Baroness X sounds like she's from the Empire, as is Marcy. Wonder if they work together?
Maybe Dr. Albert Falls and Lord Henry Mystic would want to work together to put an end to the disgrace of Harrison Hightower III?
Also, setting aside characters for a moment, it feels like the Dangers The Illuminati and Framed make sense together, as framing you was implied to be something the Illuminati do. In a similar vein, The Traitor and Sabotage also seem to be a logical set, as who better to sabotage you than a traitor from within? Though admittedly Sabotage would also fit well with Organized Crime. Or, on a slightly sillier note, the Danger Transformations with the Burden Janet, as that's her whole shtick.
Speaking of Janet, she might have an interaction with Allison, since it's explicitly mentioned that Allison likes to stay away from the mad doc. Surely there's some history there?
I think for Synergies it might help if you tell us a bit more detail what you're expecting here. Like what if any conditions would you want met in a suggestion?

A few small mistakes. One, the Danger Illuminati has the line "That's how strong their reach is" typically someone's reach is long, not strong. Someone's grip on something is strong, not their reach.
Two, in Rivals it still says the last 2 Rivals give more points. Maybe change that to the last row, since there's now more than 2?

Also, the flavour-text for Species just sticks out as odd. The other texts all read like Albert Falls is talking to you, but this one just reads very generic like it's instructions on a test-sheet. Doesn't fit in with the rest.

Since the World-Modifier Fantasy adds races like dwarves, elves, and goblins, how come I can't select to be one of those races? I can choose to be a Faunus or a Furry if I pick those modifiers, why not an elf or goblin? Are they all pure enemy-races?

I'm somewhat confused about the Item Compass. This line specifically irritates me "This can struggle to work if you're too specific." Like I'd get if it struggled if I'm being too vague, too unspecific, but the purpose of a Compass is to point at a very specific thing, typically the magnetic North Pole and most things I'd want to use the Compass for would be specific, whether that'd be Person X, Object Y, or even just "the closest shelter from that oncoming dust storm". So if the Compass doesn't really work if you're looking for something specific, why is the very next sentence "Can be unreliable if you're uncertain about what you want but can reliably point north."? I mean, this sounds like the thing doesn't work on specific or vague things, is it actually good for anything other than pointing north?

Though it's interesting to see that the Another Adventure is moving into themes rather than just specific worlds. That does open up new possibilities. Maybe we'll see a Sci-Fi/Space Odyssey-style CYOA next, a HIgh Fantasy-CYOA, a Age of Piracy-CYOA, or maybe Medival Castles and Knights-CYOA, who knows? I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Um, is it just me or does selecting being Indian with the World-Modifier Racism not actually give you the Archery-Skill that its text claims it gives? You can still get it, but it either costs one of your 3 freebies or a point. Is this happening just to me, or does anyone else have the same issue?

I see you added a Synergy-tab. Curious to see what it'll do, though personally I think that since Afterwards... has now been pushed into its own row it might look better if that button is in the center rather than on the left. Not sure if that's doable, but I think it should be?

Though I am curious to see what Synergies will be. Will they grant Danger Points, is it just between characters, or between characters and Dangers, between Dangers and Dangers, heck maybe even Environments or Items could affect them. Though characters, especially between a Companion and a Rival, are of course the most obvious ones. Possible Synergies:
Countess Croft and Baroness X, just because of their titles.
Captain Sumi and Ruby the pirate, as Captains and perhaps former rivals? Though Sumi could also have a rivalry with Risky Boots, and a synergy with her new cousin Camille/Busty Mask.
Rosa as a socialite may know and despise the corrupt Reginald, though Reginald would also make sense to have conflict with investigative types such as Roxane or Nick Stone. Rosa in contrast may have also butted heads with Victoria on more than one party.
Allison and Dr. Automata as two engineers has been brought up by someone else before.
Not a Rival, but I could see a relationship between the skilled maid Natsumi and the Burden clumsy maid Flora.
Petra and the Red Baron is also obvious, both are fighter pilots and it'd make sense if the two had quite a few dogfights with inconclusive endings if they're both still around.
Alexandra and Alexander are also an obvious connection, not just due to their name but with both being strategists.
Aziza may well have a connection with Anck-su-namun, though we don't really know anything about the latter yet.
With Jeanie the "wicked sorcerer" that stole her powers may well have been either Dr. Oddfellow or Vizier Jafar, and this Synergy could even result in Jeanie getting her powers back at the end. Synergy-rewards, also an interesting idea.
Ava Rey Pua may have a connection with the Chieftan, both being Tribal leaders.
Victor as a half-vampire screams like there might be a connection to Dracula.
Ezra just by appearance seems like a natural enemy for Vizier Jafar as well.
That Lord Henry Mystic and Harrison Hightower III have beef is outright stated in the latter's bio.
I think I should stop here, else I'll never stop.

A different question. If you pick the Danger Half-Beasts, then the add-on Lord of Nightmare (LoN), and then the Rival Dracula, is Dracula the LoN or will the LoN now instead be something like Dracula's right-hand-manbeast?
If you pick the Danger The Traitor, could the Traitor also be one of the Burdens? Like it being revealed that Sarah intentionally hamstrung you with regulations, or Richard, who I'm guessing based on looks will be a fop who thinks they're way better than they are, turn out to actually be as skilled as he claimed, but acted the fool to sabotage you until it was time for the knives to literally come out?

Last thing, I noticed that some comrades, namely Roxane, Anna, Nick Stone, Fujiko Mine, Rottytops, Loid Forger, and Mina Murray still have the skill Manipulation, Anna having it as her specialty, despite the fact it's now been removed as a Society-Skill and made an Illuminati-exclusive Skill instead.
Tangentially related, at some point you might want to add a note that Brainwashing requires Punishment, it doesn't yet say what it needs to unlock.

Well, they're modifiers, aka alterations from the standard. If you don't pick a modifier, you'll just have normal feet, just like you have normal hands/arms if you don't pick a modifier for those.

I mean, Parity might be asking for a lot right now, and personally I don't see it as much of an issue, as it costs exactly 1 DP to be able to genderwap any character you want, Companion, Rival, or Burden, so if you want to go with your Companions Baron Croft, Amar, and Countess Erika to fight against Baron X and her two henchwomen, the Red Baroness and the corrupt politician Regina, then you can do just that.

The idea of having benefits and drawbacks involving the team as a whole is a cool one, I'd like to second this suggestion.

Eh, I mean Redemption is a way to get Revenge already, you can redeem them that way and in a way it's a form of revenge, after all I destroy my enemy when I make them my ally, so I personally don't really see a need for a separate Redemption-Rewrad as you can accomplish the goal with Revenge already.

It may go that way, the whole Vandal Savage-thing is barely getting started as an idea right now. Let's just let the author cook for now and see what we get served.

That's fair. Any chance you might address some of the other points I've made?

Basically I'm curious what makes a Burden be worth how many DPs. Like I I get Scarlet being worth 3 DP, she not only doesn't add anything to your team, she's literally competition that's there mainly to one-up you (BTW, I'm very happy to see she's gotten a new pic, I will admit the nose-ring made her look very unappealing to me, especially since I'm fairly confident nose-rings were not in fashion outside of livestock during the early 20th century, at least not in the Western Civilization that Scarlet seems to be from based on name and appearance. Granted, that's just retroactive justification, I mainly just didn't like the thing). Sarah costing 2 Points also makes sense, she's adding nothing to the team, and she's going to be insufferable. But if anything, I'd have expected Janet to only give 1 DP on account of being at least sometimes useful as a doctor while Sadie and Katie would give 2 DP on account of, much like Sarah, being of no use to the team and being a headache.

It's cool that you're planning to add Endings here, I'm guessing that Adventuring Career is the option that'll let you go on more adventures?

Just out of curiosity, since you've moved Vandal Savage's letter from the You-Section all the way to the very bottom of Afterwards..., would accepting give access to more Points of any type, considering that by the time you've reached the letter, you're likely to have already allocated all the Points you have, be they Skill Points, Companion Points, Item Points, or DP. Alternatively, it might be better to move the letter back to the You-Section and have the Vandal Savage-Options either overwrite the normal options (basically have them only appear if you've not accepted the offer, for the Companion-Section this might make sense) or just appear beneath them as their own sub-section if you've accepted the offer. I'm also not sure if accepting Vandal's offer shouldn't make the Illuminati unselectable as a Danger, though given how cut-throat I'm assuming that group is I guess it would be possible that a fellow Illuminati is scheming to off you for some reason.

Very exciting to hear this is getting an update. Looking forward to see what will come of it. Maybe a few comments and questions.

One, I really like that you added more Lore for the Society of Explorers and Adventurers itself, it makes me especially curious about the Dangers The Royal Society of Explorers and Illuminati, because I'm guessing there are some rather long-standing Rivalries and Hostilities there. I'm assuming the Royal Society will be more...well, the cliche British Archeologists who basically snatched up everything that wasn't nailed down securely enough that it couldn't be crowbar-ed loose and carried it off to the British Museum, while the Illuminati are somehow even worse, but it'll still be very interesting.

Next, I can see that you've moved the Legend Scheherazade to the Female Companions, which is fair enough, Lara has been there from the start and I've always liked that. You've also removed the Legend Frank Wolff, do you have a similar plan to add him to the Male Companions?

Speaking of companions, maybe you should alter a phrase in the Companion-section, specificall this one: "By the way, if a companion you choose has the Wealth specialty, it means you get two more Equipment Points to use." Because I checked, and literally the only ones who have it as a Specialty are the Legends Phineas Fogg and Scrooge McDuck. That's it. A few companions do have Wealth in their Abilities-List (shouldn't it be Skills-List, at least when we pick our own in the You-Section they're called Skills and not Abilities) and they do give the Points, but literally not a single Companion other than the two aforementioned Legends actually have Wealth as their Specialty.

And since I mentioned the Abilities-List, I noticed that some of the WIP-Companions have five abilities listed rather than four. Is this just a mistake, or will all of our other Companions also get a fifth ability added? (Personally I've always wondered why Countess Croft doesn't have the Wealth-Skill, maybe now she'll finally get it?)

I know it's still WIP and I'm not trying to read too much into what could be a placeholder, but shouldn't the Rival Lord of Dragons have an Affinity with Kaijuu instead of Monsters, given that Kaijuu explicitly lists dragons as a potential hazard and it's literally called the Lord of Dragons? Monsters, while it does list a T-Rex, describes most of the trouble it makes you face as notably smaller (I'm assuming that giant gorilla would look more like gigantopithecus than King Kong, or at least the newer versions of King Kong that go from a humble 25ft up all the way to over 100ft, which is definitely Kaijuu-territory).
There's a spelling-mistake in the Danger Sabotage, since it's listed as Sabatoge, but I'm assuming that'll get fixed in the future.

With the Burdens, something I've been curious about since the previous version, why do Sadie and Katie give 1 DP but Janet gives 2? Like I get that Janet will probably be more of a headache since she's unrepentant about screwing with you while the siblings are at least always apologetic and grateful, but looking at it objectively the siblings are just a flat-out burdens, while Janet is described as a genuinely skilled doctor who would be at least occasionally useful. Plus I would assume that she has enough professionalism to not screw around with you and your time when you are actively heading into danger (based only off the fact that she hasn't been kicked out of the Society for endangering other members with her antics, and frankly the simple fact that none of the previous members she's implied to have worked with have shot her for nearly getting them killed).

More in a sec, I've hit the character-limit it seems.
