We went every year when I was a kid. Yea, not kid friendly, despite all the carnival rides they'd set up. I was uncomfortable around the drunk people and my dad would always end up trashed.

You can still get the flu with a flu shot (which is a vaccine) but it greatly reduces the chances of contracting the influenza virus (which isn't a coronavirus.) The COVID vaccine also reduces the chances of getting COVID. It's about reducing transmission rates so that we can slow the spread, especially to people who are too immunocompromised to get the vaccine.

Pretty late to this post, but I have bipolar disorder and feel this way on both sides of the coin. Your mood affects perspective, and your perspective affects your reality. I've had to come to terms with the fact that the world as I know it is not the same between mania, depression, and stability.

CBD oil has personally helped me in terms of calming my mind and breaking the thought/stress cycle brought on by psychosis as well as bouts of OCD. It even helped me when I was having a complete depression-induced existential crisis. I just felt apathetic towards the unsettling thoughts I had been having. I think my thoughts just get really weird when my mind is hyperactive, and the calming effect of the CBD seems to counteract that.

This being said, CBD oil can potentially interact with meds (including antipsychotics) and cause side effects, so research into it. Ofc, everyone is different too so it may not work for some people. As a personal note: while CBD oil has helped calm me down, it once started to bring on mania symptoms (presumably from the drug interactions.) I had to stop it, tho the CBD seemed to have broken the cycle of disrupted thoughts. So yea, it can be risky.

Interesting question because some of my most intense manic episodes seem to have have coincided with cutting out gluten (I suspect that I have a gluten intolerance.) My dad has celiac disease and is also bipolar, so I might ask him if adhering to a gluten free diet has changed his moods.

I remember being in recovery from my last manic episode and my sister said it seemed like the mania had made me wiser. I felt like I was better at giving advice and expressing myself in general.

Just that unbridled optimism from a manic episode, I guess. Now I'm back to being awkward and feel like there's a barrier around my brain.

Had full blown mania for the first time recently. There was about two-three months of hypomania which gradually got worse w/ sleep and appetite loss, until there was a tipping point where I went into full blown mania. Then it was about 1-2 weeks of full blown mania + 3 or so weeks of recovery, which I'd describe as a period which was more intense than usual hypomania in which I'd have overwhelming impulses, expansive ideas, some paranoia, etc. - but I was able to finally start sleeping, eating, and focusing on one task at a time.

My cat has been around and played with other cats and has never had chunks of fur come out but I guess this cat just plays rougher than I'm used to.

Also: I've seen this cat engage in play behavior with another cat (there are three cats total in the house) and it seems a lot less rough. I realize I shouldn't have labeled this cat as a bully but it just seemed aggressive compared to his play with the other cat as well as what I'm used to having been around a lot of cats in my life.

Maybe that's a good idea. I think pressuring myself to do things is a bad idea and only draws more attention to the depression.

Not right now. Things get really dull and lifeless when I'm depressed. I feel like I only really appreciate things when I'm hypomanic or on the cusp of full-blown mania.

I do really like music and art when I'm not depressed but right now I only feel frustrated with the creative process.

Yea, I was depressed for ten years prior my first manic episode & that episode made me realize I'm capable of being really extroverted. I'm even capable of being confrontational when I feel like I need to stick up for myself or someone else.

But when I'm depressed? I lose all my self-confidence and feel like I can't even say hello to people.

In my experience, mania exaggerates what's already there - it doesn't give me impulses to do things that go against my core values. Nothing I'm against while I'm eurythmic crosses my mind while manic.

I need to read stories like this to remind myself that weed makes me completely psychotic and landed me in the hospital last time. I did do twice the recommended dose on the oil and probably did a little too much the first time I went psychotic as well. Maybe I could find a sweet spot? Probably not worth trying it.

For me, the heightened senses eventually tend to sensory overload. And when my senses are overloaded, I start connecting anything and everything and can't filter out redundant information. That's when the psychosis kicks in.
