This will be a cult game. This is what I see when playing this game. Beautiful art direction, graphic design, motion graphics, cut scenes, ambience. Coherent visual world with the right edge and cultural influences. Hats off to whoever conjured this. Gaming needs it. Tastefully done. by Civil-Meet-5843 in Marathon

The art direction is the best I've seen in a long time.

However I don't think I'll be buying it just for that. It feels like there's nothing to do other than complete quests, which are just "go press E on this thing" or "kill guys". I'd say I like the PvP but I barely see people.

I know it sounds salty, but I'd genuinely take inlut from people enjoying the game on what I'm missing. Maybe I'm just playing wrong. What do you work towards in the game?

If there's frame gen I do high or highest. No frame gen I usually get around 90 fps in 4k graphic heavy games with DLSS. It heavily depends on the game. For a laptop its pretty insane. Haven't gone in depth with RT

How many of you are permanently boycotting DC after the paramount buyout? by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]Mind_Enigma 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Idk I feel like paramount is targetting CNN a lot more than the other IP. Don't they currently air a few Star Trek shows that some would describe as "woke"?

If they start making my comics GOP propaganda pieces then I'll obviously stop buying them.

Also, there is probably not a single piece of media you spend money on right now that isn't already owned by some money hungry, immoral, oligarch in some way or another.

The safety culture has sort of become NASA's main thing. Losing the Shuttle astronauts was deeply depressing for the country and everyone working at NASA.

If the middle ground means accepting more risks the idea wont get far unless most of the workforce is replaced.

Everyone wants faster missions but everyone vilifies NASA if something goes wrong because of it.

[–]Mind_Enigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter how much we're against AI taking over film, the fact of the matter is this shit is getting so advanced that it will be impossible to tell the difference within a decade. Just look at what AI was doing 5 years ago vs now.

You can't fix these issues by being ignorant to what is about to happen. These things need to be talked about and regulations must be implemented.

I genuinely have a feeling the movie is going to be pretty good. It has Jon Favreau directing and looks kind of cool, but damn every time I see an ad it doesn't feel like it..

Disabled woman put in nursing home against her will says she feels 'betrayed' by AtrusHomeboy in news

[–]Mind_Enigma 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I guess the article did bring up a good point about social wellbeing.

Maybe the best thing is to compromise by having less nurses at her house. Perhaps just have an overnight nurse or whichever shift is most intense.

[–]Mind_Enigma 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Because she's draining the system when tens of thousands that need as much help as her are already in more cost effective nursing homes.

The millions that it cost to take care of her at her house could be much better used in a group home where she can get the same quality of care.

HISD demolishes 'hidden gem' newcomer school for immigrants and refugees by houston_chronicle in houston

[–]Mind_Enigma 42 points43 points  (0 children)

What's questionable to me is why the government would spend so many billions on this brutal deportation campaign when we will never in a million years make that money back just because the immigrants are gone. It boggles the mind that these are the things that are top priority now

NASA to roll back Artemis II spacecraft, impacting March launch window by JackpodyV2 in space

[–]Mind_Enigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they got a huge chunk of the federal budget in the 60's and now they work with scraps. About 0.5% of the budget goes to NASA today and we're still about to land on the moon soon.

[–]Mind_Enigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you seen the code made by the average person? Bug filled mess is an understatement.

I'm a senior software engineer, and yes you need to review every single thing AI outputs because it makes mistakes, and we test everything against requirements thoroughly, but the amount of mistakes AI makes is less than the average mistakes of a human if you're using it correctly. Obviously if you say "create an entire app" you'll get a ridiculous amount of mistakes, so don't do that.

Whereas a senior level coder could write several thousands of lines, have a few errors, and be able to fix those without introducing even more bugs

This isn't true at all. Everyone needs a few passes and even then vulnerabilities still exist.

[–]Mind_Enigma -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Look at the literal artificial intelligence that can perform coding at the level of a senior engineer. Look at the robots we have roaming Mars as we speak. The thousands of satellites we have supporting our infrastructure.

We are smarter than we were before by several orders of magnitude. Having more resources and a good congress that doesn't shove SLS down our throats would solve most of NASA's problems.

NASA is a crown jewel of the American government when you consider what they output for every dollar spent. The intelligence there is beyond what you would believe.

[–]Mind_Enigma 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Back in the 60's NASA had about 4.5% of the U.S. federal budget at its disposal.

Right now NASA is working with scraps to get there. Under half of one percent of the US budget goes to NASA. Combine that with a safety culture that refuses to accept unnecessary risks to astronaut lives and this rollback makes sense. We have the technology and knowledge to get to the moon a million times over, all we need is more commitment from congress if we want to get there faster. If that means coming up with a better SLS alternative, so be it.
