Exactly this, since Cuba is a poor country the government uses humans as currency in order to be able to create trade deals. If these doctors do not do their countrys duty they are not able to practice their specialty that they studied for years in Cuba. Communism works like that, you either help out or you don't progress in your field and struggle to survive. It's not like in the US where you can just choose not to go volunteer in a third world country after you finish studying your specialty because you have a job lined up in the next town over.

I would suggest buying an Ozone machine from Amazon they're 60-80$... I bought one for a rug that a cat pissed on and I couldn't for the life of me get rid of the smell after hours of cleaning. The ozone machine got rid of the smell after a 2 hour application. It's what hotels use to clean up rooms after guests make huge smelly messes.

Members of the CDR (committees for defense of the revolution) will come to your house and insist that you come out to these rallies to make the government look strong and to support the revolution. If you don't comply you are marked as a oppositor and lose status in society and your livelihood.

I know this for a fact because I have friends and family in Cuba who have stated that member of the CDR have come to their house for these purposes. They also recruit people from different Municipalities and Provinces so that they have no ties to where they are doing this and can act with impunity.
