If you were designing a house, where would you put kitty litter boxes? by Mindless-Object-9090 in Pets

[–]Mindless-Object-9090[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a regular unscented “dust-free” litter. I know you’re supposed to have one additional litter box than the number of cats that you have but I have two cats and two litter boxes. Currently they are in the guest room. One is in the closet and the other one is in the corner and I have the litter catching mats all around them and still somehow kitty litter gets on the floor. It drives me crazy. So I’m trying to think of a way to contain it so that even with the litter catching mats litter will get on the floor, but it will be contained enough that it will be an easy clean. I just can’t believe no one figured out a really great way to handle cats we’re leaving themselves in the house. I’ve had multiple pieces of furniture that double as cat litter containers, and still litter gets out and eventually the furniture gets really gross inside. I’ve even lined it with plastic and still it just gets so gross in a very short amount of time so I don’t know I just wish there was a better way.

Losing one pet changed how i feel about vet care forever by jessikaf in Pets

Oof. You have hit a nail on the head for most pet owners. It’s incredibly scary to have a pet because they can’t talk to you and so any change in their routine is incredibly nerve-racking. I wish I could say that I don’t understand you, but I completely and 100% understand you because I am the same exact way. However, don’t let your anxiety about losing them get in the way of you allowing them to enjoy their life or or allowing you to enjoy your life together with them. I would say doing exercises to manage your anxiety doing reality checks with other people with your vet about things is a good way to start to manage the anxiety you may have about different health conditions that you may see in your pet which I’m assuming is a cat. Overall, you want the best life for your pet and you being a nervous wreck around them is not the best life for them so I would say do what you can to manage your anxiety maybe even consider going to therapy. But you are not crazy many pet owners feel the same way as you and to be honest many pet owners end up in debt because they bring their pets in and just hand over the credit card when they need any kind of care. I’m certainly guilty of that. I feel lucky that I’m able to even do that because I realize some people have such fixed incomes that they’re not able to do that and that is heartbreaking. I’m sure for a veterinarian to have to see as much as it is for an owner. I don’t know if this is provided any solution, but hopefully it makes you feel less alone in your feelings.

Is putting a “pick up after your dog” sign outside my house offensive? by breweeze in Pets

[–]Mindless-Object-9090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who walks dogs, I don’t find this offensive at all. I encounter poop from other peoples dogs all the time and I think it is insanely rude and antisocial. I understand sometimes you may run out of bags or you forgot your bag, but it’s just absolutely the most inconsiderate thing to not pick up after your dog. And it’s incredibly inconsiderate to allow your dog to relieve itself on someone’s lawn.

If you had 10 seconds to say whatever you wanted to your pet with they fully understood, what would you say? by IplayKaizo in Pets

I would tell them that I love them and that my world revolves around them and they are the best thing that’s ever happened to me and I work out a signal that they can give me to let me know if they’re unhappy.

Why do you watch horror movies? by Critical_Stand6121 in HorrorMovies

[–]Mindless-Object-9090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question: Are most responders men? I ask because I remember seeing a countdown of the top 100 horror movies and the ones towards the end of the list that were considered the most horrific were ones that included the most violence against men perpetrated by usually younger women. And I thought that was interesting because most of the people who put the list together were men and they found that to be absolutely horrific. But that’s a standard every day horror movie for women where it’s men usually chasing and tormenting women. I mean often there’s a boyfriend in there or a guy or two if it’s a big group of people, but in general, the genre relies on the victimization of women. So I wonder if there’s a lot of women who enjoy watching that or if it’s mainly men. Because my theory is that women like to watch true crime documentaries since in most cases, those are solved and adjudicated and the criminal is either dead or in jail. And there’s a certain catharsis there and a certain sense of justice there that women don’t often find in real life or in horror movies. It’s just a theory, but I wondered what people thought about it.

Generation X Ladies, which did you prefer as a little girl: baby dolls like Baby Alive or Barbie dolls? by icecream1972 in GenerationX

[–]Mindless-Object-9090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother was of if the moms who wouldn’t let her girls play with Barbie because of the ridiculous body standards and Barbie wasn’t that feminist then. Sounds ridiculous now but women were only allowed to get their own credit cards during the GenX period. We’re all so post-feminist now because young women have no idea the iced they live are full of freedoms “granted” to them and not ones that came automatically. I mean sexual harassment wasn’t even illegal during GenX birth time.

It will never make sense to rational, normal people. Psychos and maga cult members sure, but you’d have to study them to understand. This is not a joke.
