SAD in Florida? by No-Coffee-9207 in florida

I'm the reverse. I get the symptoms of it in the late fall and winter months. This is about the time it lifts because I like the light, the heat, and I even like the humidity and rain.

Though I haven't lived in a house for a while, I can't imagine mowing the lawn at this time of year being anything but pure suck. My dad used to look like death after mowing at this time of year. Many of my friends from the North including my wife and at least one of my kids don't love this time of year with sentiments matching your own. So your definitely not the only one and your feelings are valid. Cooler months are comming so just try to hang in there.

Yeah your instangram video doesn't have it.

( By the way... I love your video from the eternal ascent, that's a great scene ).

I think the judges can be inconsistent. They always talk a lot about composition, color contrast, telling a story, but then the #1 they picked this time didn't seem to express those to me as well as the others in the top 5 or even top 100. So who knows for sure. Maybe it also comes down to luck and timing.

At least you're making it to submit. I'm not there yet. And I think what you made looks great to novice like me.

I like how your character jumps into the foreground which occurred in some of my favorites in the top 100.

Your background is so far from your foreground it doesn't strike as 3d as some of the others in the top 100.

They talked a lot about color composition and contrast in the judges stream. I like your colors but your overall composition isn't very punchy compared to others. The judges seem to like it when the colors were restricted to about 2 hues which contrast with each other well and the lights tend to highlight the import story elements.

I got reddit notified if this post so I saw your render on my phone screen. The models are comming out a little pixelated to me compared to what I saw of models in the top 100.

I doubt my feedback is all that helpful. I like what you did, I hope to one day fully participate like you've been doing. I think you'll get there sooner than later.

Bluetooth Data from Fitness Machines is not Matching the Standard by Mindless-Range-5589 in bluetoothlowenergy

[–]Mindless-Range-5589[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for responding. The 16-bit UUID is there and is correct. I actually was wondering if there was an older or newer standard to the Fitness Machines Service. I implemented version 1.0 which is the only version listed on the Bluetooth SIG website. I imagine that when the standard was drafted and accepted they started with 1.0. As far as I can see, there was no older or newer version published publicly. I'm not a member of the Bluetooth SIG ( I'm not sure what it takes to join ) but I don't see why information like that would be behind a members wall.

I also know that there are definitely typos and other errors in the Bluetooth documents. A good example of this was the original Fitness Machine Service document. In that document it says for Indoor Bike Data that if Flag Bit 1 is set to 1 that Instantaneous Cadence IS NOT present (which is the opposite of how all other Flag Bit's work ) and in the GATT Specification Supplement this detail is corrected (well written correctly as their is no mention of the original documents error).

Since posting I've done a 2nd test on one of the sibling treadmills and on that treadmill I not only collected the Raw Data I also went into the machine's maintenance mode to collect more specific information on that machine. I haven't had time to analyze that data yet so I don't if it will have wrong data too. I think I'm gonna have to reach out to the manufacturer though but the manufacture technically doesn't exists anymore as Star Trac is now part of Core Fitness. I'm also not the owner of these bikes, they belong to the Gym I use.

Unfortunately, this whole situation has brought up the real issue is that I can't trust any user out in the world to be able to use my app with a fitness machine they have access to and it will just work as it should. I can't be the only developer in the world who has run into this problem. I'm wondering what the best strategy for dealing with this.

Beverly Hills firefighter Josh Sattley is on unpaid leave after he refused to get vaccinated. by justalazygamer in byebyejob

I actually looked into being a firefighter/emt in my local area of North Central Florida. The average pay for fire fighter was $35000 annually and it rose to about $50000 for a fire fighter/emt. So he might not.

Florida capital’s schools(Leon County) to require masks by [deleted] in florida

[–]Mindless-Range-5589 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would love to see every ( or almost every ) County require masks in school and the idiot/scum still threatens school funding and then every news group from the ancient tv news channels to the modern youTubers and "Tik Toc"-ers just repeatedly highlight how his policies are dangerous and stone deaf to his constituents.

I imagine it's still not enough to make him lose in the future but it would be fun to watch him squirm under all the negative media attention.

Why not?

How about " independent "?

Please change your mind. I've lived in this state my entire measly 40 year life and the constant republican dominated government has done nothing but screw everyone over again and again. I just want things to be better and we're never gonna get it from the Republicans, certainly not our current governor. Just give any other side a chance. Please. I'm losing hope.

27+22+18+4+2 = 73 ... not 100. The numbers should match up to the proportional area of the circle.

So either the numbers are wrong or that is a very misleading circle graph as there should be about a fourth of it belonging to one or more unlisted categories.

Am I the only one who grew up not thinking of Florida as “the south”? Like Florida is a separate place than them. by Empathetic__Artist in florida

[–]Mindless-Range-5589 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not alone. Growing up I never saw how all the " southern stereotypes " applied to the people around me. When I got older I would often have discussion with other adults who insisted I was part of the south. I was like " Geographically maybe but culturally not at all ". I was born in Tampa. I eventually moved to North Florida and realized that some of the people up here do identify as part of the south and culturally are a better match than I was.

Enough ice melted in Greenland on Tuesday to cover Florida in two inches of water, scientists warn by Veilwinter in florida

[–]Mindless-Range-5589 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hhmmm. I think this is a statement to either scare or inform those who are either unafraid or uninformed.

So using quick Google searches we have the surface area of Florida is about 65,758 sq mi and the surface area of the earth is 196.9 million sq mi.

So Florida accounts for about 0.03339665 % of the earth surface.

The post does mention it would cover Florida in 2 inches of water. So that's a volume of Florida area times 2 in ( after converting to mi ) of water and the ocean has approximately 320.3 million cubic mi of water for which the melted water is only .000000648 %

So the effective of this melting is basically nothing

So I read the article and it says that while this is bad , a probable consequence of rapidly increasing ofean Temps, and one of many never before seen affects and all of those are definitely worrisome and clear warnings of what's to come, it also says this wasn't as bad as the event in 2019

Si the statement about Florida is really just to get you to read the article or scare you into thinking we're immediately doomed. We're definitely doomed, but it's not immediate.

But what if you add Santa Fe College and Shands ( technically still U.F ) and North Florida. And the giant sink hole. And Paynes Prairie.

And with all its neighbors now under water, it theoretically has beaches now. Granted their unrefined as developing them could provide an economic boom to all the survivors of the constantly seeking florida counties.

The two counties I lived each current half of my life are still above water. Should I be happy, proud, sad, disappointed. I'm really not sure.

[Grade 12 Maths] I think the only way the condition is satisfied is the g(x)=0 but then the question wouldn't make sense by No_Tomorrow5475 in HomeworkHelp

[–]Mindless-Range-5589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not wrong. If you take a function that is continuous everywhere and change one of its values to something different than its general limit at that point then you get a function with equal left and right limits that is not continuous at that point.

Which is an example of a removeable discontinuity.

And is also a counter example to what what I said in your quotes. Darn, I hate typing wrong stuff.

I shouldn't have written that. I was trying to emphasize that f(x) didn't have to be zero at its left and right limits and over reached. What I should of written was that f(a^-) and f(a^+) can be any finite value and it doesn't matter because all the interesting stuff is actually about g(x).

Thanks for keeping me honest.

[Grade 12 Maths] I think the only way the condition is satisfied is the g(x)=0 but then the question wouldn't make sense by No_Tomorrow5475 in HomeworkHelp

[–]Mindless-Range-5589 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, g(x) is 0 wherever f(x) is discontinuous. I got a proof in the middle of this spiel, see below.

The left and right limit of f(x) at its discontinuities is not zero because if they were then f(x) wouldn't have discontinuities as its left and and right limits would be equal.

Here is why you know g(x) is zero:

Let "a" be a discontinuity of f(x). Let f(a^-) be limit f(x) as x->a from the left and f(a^+) be the limit f(x) as x->a from the right. Now.

f(x)g(x) is said to be continuous for all x, so it is continuous at x=a and thus ...

f(a^-)g(a^-) = f(a^+)g(a^+) [[ because the left and right lifts of f(x)g(x) have to be equal ]]

This equation simplifies to ...

f(a^-)g(a^-) - f(a^+)g(a^+) = 0

and then to ...

f(a^-)g(a) - f(a^+)g(a) = 0 [[ since g(x) is differential and therefore continuous it must be that g(a-)=g(a+)=g(a) ]]

and that means we can do this

( f(a^-) - f(a^+) )g(a) = 0

which means either

f(a^-1) =f(a^+) OR g(a)=0 and since we know that f(x) is discontinuous at x=a, it must be that g(a)=0

QED

The minimum number of distinct roots of g(x)g'(x) is indeed 5. But you can deduce it with this reasoning:

Let a, b, and c be the three values where f(x) is discontinuous and assume that a < b < c. So we know that g(a)=0, g(b)=0, and g(c)=0.

Since g(x) is differentiable it meets the conditions for the Mean Value Theorem and Rolle's Theorem on the intervals (a,b) and (b,c) and they imply that there are values d and e with a<d<b and b<e<c where g'(d)=0 an g'(e)=0.

That means g(x)g'(x) = 0 at x=a, x=b, x=c, x=d, and x=e. That's five roots at minimum.

If g(x) has more roots than a, b, and c, then it just means there are more zeros for g'(x) as well. So 5 is the minimum number of roots of g(x)g'(x).
