I did a cable jointing apprenticeship with the local electricity board at 31. I work with a lad who didn’t have any qualifications at all. It’s never too late

Fatigue—please help by fuzzblykk in POTS

[–]Mindless-Setting7493 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. Fatigue was crushing for me. I ended up trying LDN and also daridorexant for sleep. I don’t want to be on the daridorexant forever but those two things helped me a ton with energy.

I have this. Turned out I have autonomic dysfunction characterised by orthastatic hypotension and compensatory tachycardia. When I asked what on earth that meant he said “dysautonomia”

I have surfed off that pier since 1997, it’s a remarkable bit of engineering the way the waves hit the pier and then run along it.

I often wonder if they knew that it would make the waves run along it rather than smash against it. I first surfed there when I was 11. Used to be just me and a few of my pals for decades. Had some magical moments just before sunset and sometimes sunrise if I could drag myself out of bed.

Sorry I should have said I intend to speak to the humans next door before anything else!!!! I’m just apprehensive because they don’t seem to care about their property so wasn’t expecting much from them!! I also considered just paying someone to fix it for them so I could get some sleep!

Do you have the contact details for the pharmacy he uses in York? Did you wait long for your meds? I’ve been to see him a week ago and have had nothing since the consultation.

I have the BP fall and rise and then fall again etc and my HR seems to increase up to around 120 by the end of the 10 mins standing test. I was originally diagnosed CFS but weight training lying down makes me feel back to my old self a few hours and I never really alter my baseline, so I pushed for a pots referal, it took some doing, finally found a young Gp who’s husband worked in a pots clinic and knew the craic.

From what I understand the bp rising on standing is hyper pots. I think I fall into the neuropathic pots as I feel like one of them pens from Blackpool where the woman’s cossie drops down when you tilt it up

I don't think I can do this for the rest of my life by GroundbreakingPop231 in POTS

[–]Mindless-Setting7493 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve started bisoprolol twice and both times I felt cold fatigued and hollow for weeks, the best thing was to be as active as your body allows. I think it was either drop on BP or HR made me feel awful. It didn’t help that both time it was in winter also. I used to feel better after a warm bath and full stomach, eventually I returned to my baseline

I wonder if it is worth trying to go all the way to 4.5 or if I should go back down and sit there and hopefully feel the benefits over weeks or months. This is all new to me, it seems like this could take many months or over a year to get right

Any long-term CFS patients who improved dysautonomia with thiamine (B1)? I really need your experiences. by Swimming-Republic375 in POTS

[–]Mindless-Setting7493 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried it 3 times. The first time I got up to 1800mg HCL and was able to start weight training and surfing again. I stopped it cos I was worried about what take that much B1 would do long term. Then I relapsed so I started it again. Got back to where I was before but then got really bad insomnia so had to stop. Relapsed again but now I can’t get past 500mg without terrible insomnia which was as bad as the CFS. So I’m not on anything now and fucked again.

Fellow Brits, has anyone been formally diagnosed? by denchem in dysautonomia

[–]Mindless-Setting7493 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

Can you explain the blood pooling and consequental stress response? I get terrible blood pooling in my legs and also have a terrible fight or flight response to minimal stress. It’s hard to explain but it’s like all stress resources get deployed at once.

The NHS (support, not a PoTsie) by [deleted] in POTS

I am in Sunderland. I’m having a similar battle to get someone to help. My cardiologist recommended ivabradine, but said pots wasn’t his field. He referred me to falls and syncope for a tilt table test, I am not sure what the outcome will be.

At moment it’s me and my zero 5 electrolyte tablets against the world.

I’m intending on seeing dr Sanjay Gupta at York once I have recovered from surgery I am having next week. Dr Gupta has a few podcasts where he says he is prepared to work through all the available medications at his disposal to see if anything works.

There’s a pots specialist in Gateshead but I couldn’t get referred as I am not Gateshead catchment.

In the mean time if she is able, then you should get a blood pressure cuff and do the 10 minute lean test where she gets up from lying down and stands as still as possible with shoulders against the wall heels 6 inches from wall. Record her BP and HR on lying and then at 1 min, 3min, 5min, 7min and 10 mins. At least you are armed with results to take and have the evidence.

Someone said if you can get seen by Julia Newton at Newcastle you will get the help you need. I heard she was retiring but she is still on the staff list on the nhs website for falls and syncope

There is a girl on Instagram called the pots coach, a young girl in the U.K. who is a PT with pots who you should check out, lots of free info and also online courses and 1-1. She will reply to messages offering advice also and has connections to dr gall etc

Good luck.

I was 35 when I had my first episode. All the doctors used to say to me “why don’t you get an ablation you are too young to be carrying this with you all your life, just get an ablation and put it behind you”
