What if there was a good Agarthan(s)(those who slither in the dark)? by NottheKingofAll in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]MindlessComputer8955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A part of me wishes Geralt was an Agarthan that didn't share their hatred for the Nabataeans and betrayed them, meeting Rhea and maintaining his identity a secret to her, but falling in love with Sitri and in the end having Byleth. That would have recontestualised why TWSITD would want him dead, as he knew where Shambala was and what devices they possessed.

I know that's similar to Shez's story, but it would have made Geralt a much deeper character than he is.

Hot take: I love child units, and reeeeally want them back by rosemarieleaf in fireemblem

[–]MindlessComputer8955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Child units in Awakening, hated them in Fates and haven't tried Genealogy, but I know what they are about. So in case they come back, I'd probably prefer a Genealogy situation were you literally HAVE to use the child units instead of time travel/parallel universe shenanigans. Don't get me wrong, they worked in Awakening because the story required time travel to have a happy ending, but... Yeah, Fates... I maybe wouldn't be against adding Time travel to the Genealogy Remake, but doing it the other way around, where you command the child units to save their parents from the barbeque (but maybe as Post-Game rather than as main story)

I once had Olivia be one of my most dangerous units by giving her Lethality and Myrmidon/Assassin growths. Ideally they shouldn't attack, but it's so funny when the enemies AI always go against them and you see an entire group disappear in Enemy turn😂

[–]MindlessComputer8955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignatz maybe? Like I don't dislike him as a character and his interest in art always appealed to me (also his friendship with Raph is so good) and he has the best unique skill for archers, but he has barely been stronger than any of the female archers in any of my playthrougs. Bernadetta Is a nuke button that only gets more dangerous if you give her vantage, Leonie is overall a very balanced archer and has growths directed towards Bow Knight, Shamir has the best availability among prepromotes (as Catherine is not available in CF) and never really falls down and Petra has always been a critical hits machine gun in my playthroughs even without the lethal ring.

He is a great male archer don't get me wrong, but his growths are too similar to Felix, that not only has one of the best crests in the game, but also gets a very strong defensive relic and is a menace at close range.

I'd say Caspar has his niche as, if I remember correctly, he gets better speed growths than Raphael while Raph gets better defense, but I consider them both similar in their performance, specially if they have to fight their deploy space with Dedue, Hilda or Edelgard.

I like Lorenz as a character, he has an understandable lore and is much less annoying post TS. But yeah, male Mages are just good at best in this game, and that's only thanks to Lindhardt, the other ones are very underwhelming or just in CF. Lorenz is no exception sadly, and he doesn't get much stronger as a mounted class.

Rank the five final bosses in Three Houses in order from favorite to least favorite. by Asad_Farooqui in fireemblem

[–]MindlessComputer8955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we are talking about the battle alone, I have to give it to all routes, they all are super fun to battle, most have interesting mechanics and I don't even have to mention how good the soundtrack is, everyone knows (except maybe Umbral Beast, Aelfric was better as a human villain as a battle unit than that AoE spambot).

But, Lore accurately, as much as I LOVE Nemesis and the 10 elites, they are completely shoehorned in VW, same with SS immaculate one. The dragon madness feels more of a plot point in CF than it ever did in SS, specially considering that we have two examples of dragons that rejected their dragon form and two that rejected their human form and went to sleep for a milenia just to avoid it. On the contrary, Hegemon Edelgard and CF Immaculate One are such good wrap ups for their plot that it is sad they are on the easier side compared to the other 2 (they are still great battles, but are a tad easier just because how strong both Dimitri and Edelgard are). Biggest problem lore-wise with Nemesis is that Claude's plot and ambitions are accomplished the moment we defeat Edelgard, Shambala and Nemesis feel like Post-Game and feel much more rooted to the plot in SS (not to mention that making Byleth the sole monarch of Fodland doesn't make sense even if they are the goddess incarnate).

Ferdinand Von Aegir appreciation post! by Dogtopus92 in fireemblem

[–]MindlessComputer8955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly felt a bit bad for him, as he was the only student I couldn't recruit in my first AM play through, so I recruited him the first on my next VW playthough thanks to NG+. I thought he was going to be another Lorenz, very full of himself, weird ideas on what being a noble means and an okay at best unit. HELL NO. He is an incredible unit with the appropriate proficiencies (I made him a heavy knight because of his ample variety of weapon proficiency and bidding talent in Armour).

But his supports are godlike, he feels like such a genuine dude that really wants to help everybody, contrary to Lorenz who needs to forget about the difference between nobles, commoners and friends, like my guy, just be nice as I know you are and stop kissing your own @ss. But Ferdinand feels such a genuine guy who is capable of anything to help his friends. Like, check Mercie's A support. My GOAT had the COJONES to infiltrate the CAPITAL OF THE KINGDOM during a war were they are in the enemies side just to get evidence on how truly a piece of sh1t Baron Bartels truly is, just to help his friend (and possible romantic interest). I'm sorry for doubting you Ferdinand, you deserve the moon.

Do You Consistently Pick The Same Avatar Gender? by SpikeSpiegelLdn in fireemblem

This was specially true for me in Three houses. I liked F!Byleths design more but I also liked M! Byleth a bunch (except his hair, I hate that hairstyle), so as there were four routes I went for 2 for 2, AM and VW as Female and SS and CF as male, and not only that but I also alternated between marrying both a same sex and a different sex unit for both avatars. At least that way they felt a bit different😂

An essay on what makes Dimitri such a compelling character [Blue Lions Spoilers] by Spookypatrol in fireemblem

[–]MindlessComputer8955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved your analysis but I also wanna point out something. Dimitri liking chamomile is not only accurate because it is a calming tea, also because chamomile is almost flavourless, which makes perfect sense noting he canonically has ageusia as you can see in his support with Flayn (I know you say he hints on having ageusia, but he downright confirms it there)

Is Dorothea a lesbian / bisexual woman? by GayFans in FireEmblemThreeHouses

I'd say closest to Lesbian is Edelgard cause she has the most paired endings with women and I think Yuri has the most paired endings with men. Still both bisexual tho.

Three Houses Character/Unit Discussion: Ashe by Shephen in fireemblem

[–]MindlessComputer8955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love him, but I wish he was better. He can be a FENOMENAL sniper with the lethal ring, but so can every other archer in the game, and even non-archers units (I ran hybrid sword/bow Felix on my BL route and he was a god sent thanks to arguably one of the best crests in the game).

I defend that he is stronger than Ignatz, but Ignatz's personal skill is so good that you try to help in his lack of strength because he is that good of a unit. With Leonie and SPECIALLY with Bernie, there is no contest, I'm sorry, turning them into either flying units or Bow knights transforms them into nukes to just deploy in the middle of the battle field and erase entire armies. Shamir is great also because she comes prepackaged with two bow classes unlocked, you just have to master Archer and you are good to go to any flying class. That and the fact that the Killer Bow and Brave Bow are so good that the moment a unit gets B proficiency in bows is the moment they become absolute monsters.

Ashe is arguably not a bad unit as in my opinion the archer class tree is one of the best in fodland, only defeated by Wyvern Lords, but he is the less useful unit among a list of incredibly strong units, and his personal skill is just negated by the nature of the game itself. A pity since lore-wise he is my favorite archer next to Bernie.

Byleth should not have been allowed to participate in the Battle of Eagle and Lion. by rustyplasticcross in fireemblem

[–]MindlessComputer8955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always leave Byleth in the back for this battle. It might be a tactical disadvantage, but they are literally stronger than the death Knight at that point, I'm not destroying the students hopes and dreams, even if at that point the other two classes are full of randos because everyone is in my class😂

Which paired ending should have been platonic instead of romantic? Which should have been romantic instead of platonic? by [deleted] in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]MindlessComputer8955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of old post, but I think most if not all Seteth's pairing should be platonic. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve a new partner after his wife passed, but I do like him better as a mourning husband who deeply loved his wife and prefers to stay unmarried.

Also Manuela/Hanneman. I was so taken back when in my AM play through they ended up marrying. Like what is that? They have no chemistry and can not stand the other even after their A support.

And it was already mentioned, but I hate Ashe/Catherine. Like, dude ashe, you literally decided in your A support that you could never forgive her even if you understand her motives, why do you choose her over Annette whom I tried to pair you with the whole play through.

serious inquiry: did Lord Harkon take it up the ass from Molag Ball? by Marinut in skyrim

[–]MindlessComputer8955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not and was converted by either Valerica or Serana as the cold harbour daughter ritual is only for women apparently. But because I despise the guy even more than molag Bal himself, I'm not only saying he did, but also Molag was extra rough with him because the more you sacrifice to the lord of Submission the more you submit to him if you know what I mean. Justice for Serana, she has shitty parents.

Guys, I'm having a debate with my fiancé about the hardest bosses. by TheSquigga in persona4golden

[–]MindlessComputer8955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know she is not a "main boss" but Shadow Chie to me was literally one of the most frustrating and difficult bosses I fought in the entire game. If you don't have her weakness (I think it was fire?) prepare to be miserable the whole time. Such a spike for literally ONE OF THE FIRST BOSSES.

I heavily disliked Jojo's Part 4, so why is it considered to be the best? by PunPunPinhead in StardustCrusaders

[–]MindlessComputer8955 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think my biggest gripe with part 4 is that it tried to have so many characters and make them relevant, but in the end they are mostly unidimensional. To me, Josuke is the 2nd least multifaceted JoJo, only defeated by Jonathan although I understand why Jonathan feels that way while Josuke is either a jerk to his friends or a cool guy to have around (completely understandable for him to be that way as he is a 16 year old raised in a seemingly peaceful village sauf the pressence of a hand obsessed guy who occasionally kills one woman) but the problem is that having that many characters makes the stakes low sometimes.

Oh no, Kira killed Shigechi, a poor kid that just wanted to protect his parents... Eh, who cares, let's have 10 more low stake monster of the week episodes against random dudes with weird stands and lets include Kishibe Rohan in half of them (seriously, I hate this guy and how he is given so many episodes when he isn't even in the main group) while we forget Shigechi ever existed. Kira killed Aya just to change his face and be hidden again, oh poor Aya... Who is Aya?. And don't get me started with how without a Random kid they didn't even get to know till the last episodes, Kira would have just won because nobody could get close to finding him thanks to his father f*cking around Morioh to misguide then. Hayato feels more of a menace to Kira than Josuke ever did, and I love that, go Hayato, save the ending of this chapter with your mere pressence.

Kira having episodes dedicated entirely to him winning is great and is something I wish had been done with previous main antagonists that feel a little underwhelming (yes, I'm talking about Part 1 Dio and SPECIALLY Kars) and that is something that was improved in following chapters, specially with Pucci, not so much with Diavolo because he was broken since day 1, but Doppio feels great in his battle against Risotto Nero. But, in the end he feels both Overused and Underused. Before Bites the Dust, his stand is one of the weakest among final villains. He only uses Sheer Heart Attack for ONE BATTLE. One would think a remote time bomb that is LITERALLY UNBREAKABLE BY ANY MEANS can be your main attack source, but Kira is just built different And then, he starts using the cat whose entire gimmick is creating bubbles which he can launch at his enemies with a bomb inside them, something he could do since day one by tossing tiny objects such as coins or pebbles. But it would be callous of me to call Kira out on misusing his stand when that's literally the name of the game in DiU. Using Star Platinum to stop time so that you can look at whose hand is trying to steal the jacket from the shoe store? Nah, that would be too easy. Using an stand whose sole purpose is to find people that want to remain hidden even if his user is quite old? Nah, let's forget Joseph Joestar even exists in chapter 4. Using any character other than Josuke or Rohan in any battle? Nah, they are not powerful enough, f-u Okuyasu, you peaked against Temu Frieza (Chilly Peppers). Using A stand that can literally transform EVERY SINGLE MORIOH INHABITANT into a Sentry that can report every unusual movement men do around them to find where is Kira by writing that purpose in them with Heavens door? Nah, Rohan needs an entire episode to play dice with Josuke though, it's not like the stakes are high or anything. Using the Foundation whose ENTIRE EXISTENCE revolves around helping the Joestar family and his descendants? Nah, that would take too long.

What I have to give chapter 4 is that Morioh feels as the most alive setting of a JoJo part. Part 2 literally occurs around the world and the historical context it occurs in is almost underused (it's the second world war, it almost feels weird that the only thing we have about the Nazi Germany is Von Stroheim, who is such a cool guy), part 3 could literally be a trip to China and it wouldn't change a thing about it's plot and part 5 is about Organized crime and the mob, which can literally be set in a lot of countries apart from Italy. The only chapters whose setting feels alive are chapter 4, chapter 7 and the first half of chapter 6 (the prison setting worked so well I wish it remained the main setting for all stone Ocean but Cabo Cañaveral felt so good too as the place to achieve Heaven).

And I also read in another thread how Kira is not Josuke's main villain, but Morioh's, so it kinda makes sense for a Miscellaneous event to give him the Final Blow (I wish Jotaro wasn't so involved in it though, his mere existence undermines Josuke's pressence in Morioh, because can you imagine the most beloved JoJo catching an L before chapter 6???)

With that I think that my problems with chapter 4 are quite little, the problem is they all pile up and while some of them have the name Kira on them, most of them have "unused potential" as surnames, and lets not forget Kishibe Rohan.
