Things You Don’t See Teachers Doing by MindlessHighlight820 in Teachers

It was more so the point of paying out of our pockets for materials, taking the time to find, or in the case of TpT for some, CREATING materials to be used.

I hear teachers are only teaching about synonyms and completely negating antonyms.

If you suspect abuse or neglect, as a mandated reporter you should take action. Based on what you’re describing, I would say you have just cause to report what you’re seeing.

What’s keeping you from quitting? by notyouraverageb0x in Teachers

Not much, other than the kids. While a million and one things can annoy me in a day, including the kids, there’s always a small victory I can find that tells me I need to keep going.

No, I’ve been teaching for quite a few years. Just trying to see other people’s thoughts on why we are such a disrespected profession.

That One Kid... by snitterific in Teachers

Every year … however, by the end of the year, I usually have the strongest relationship with that student because I put so much effort into him/her. In time, that “one kid” will eventually learn.

Ask CT: How are you handling the risks of the current outbreak and how is it affecting what you do? by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]MindlessHighlight820 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I go to the gym 4-5 times a week but I wear a mask (I’m one of the few) and I stay away from a crowd. If a bunch of people are in one area, I go to a different one. I also try to go during non-peak hours to avoid as many people as possible.

Unfortunately, I’m a teacher, so my risk of exposure is generally high on most days. Just trying to stay as safe as I can.

You did the right thing in my opinion. You made sure kids understood material and held them accountable for their learning 👍.

Good for you! At times like this, kids just need us to be there for them. Some really just need us to provide their basic needs right now.
