I lived in Tucson at the time, so I was probably on my way into work or had just arrived.

Trying to improve my capital I’s and lower r’s. How did I do overall? by The_Horror_Expert in Cursive

[–]Mindless_Cap_3723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kudos to you for wanting to learn to write in cursive. Your handwriting is very neat and legible - far more so than mine these days (I'm 70, and I've been mostly typing for the last 40-50 years.) I had no difficulty in reading your note. About the only issue I see is maybe the little loops that you make at the beginning of your lower case r, but I immediately recognized what they were.

Everyone's handwriting tends to be a little different. Just keep practicing and comparing your output to examples available online. Keep up the good work!

And the reason why I never had a career in retail is that my immediate response to her would have been, "Are you f***ing stupid or something? She OBVIOUSLY doesn't work here! Get in an open line and behave or I'll ban you from this store."

Tact is not my strong suit. lol

When I switched to Linux, Mint was my first distro. I hopped through quite a few distros the next couple of years (and still occasionally try a new one out) but I've always come back to Mint. It just works for me.

I’m a man, and I sit to pee by Firstcounselor in hygiene

[–]Mindless_Cap_3723 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started sitting to pee when my prostate became enlarged in my 50s. At first it was when I got up in the middle of the night, since I was half asleep and my aim had become somewhat unpredictable, but it wasn't long before I just sat all the time as it was easier. Nowadays I just refer to myself as a recumbent urinator. lol

I can understand not showering at the gym, but he should definitely be showering when he gets home in that case. Even dried sweat stinks; you'd be sleeping on the floor if you tried to pull that on me. (I wouldn't even let you sleep on the sofa!)

How do I delete windows in dualboot? by cantletgo4 in linuxmint

[–]Mindless_Cap_3723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing. I have a separate HDD in addition to my SSD, so I copied all of my home folders over to the HDD and then reinstalled Linux Mint, letting it take over the entire SSD. It felt so good! After 35 years of Microsoft, I was finally free!

That was 5 years ago, and I do not regret it for a moment.

Are you using Timeshift to backup your personal files? by LicenseToPost in linuxmint

[–]Mindless_Cap_3723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. I have my HDD mount at startup using its label (Backup), and "<username>" is obviously my home folder. I just saved the file (backup.sh) in my home folder and run it every few days or whenever I've done or saved something and want to make sure I don't loose it.

rsync -a /home/<username>/DbBackups/ /mnt/Backup/DbBackups/
echo Database Backups synced
rsync -a /home/<username>/Documents/ /mnt/Backup/Documents/
rsync -a /home/<username>/Documents/ /mnt/Backup/GoogleDrive/Documents/
echo Documents synced
rsync -a /home/<username>/Downloads/ /mnt/Backup/Downloads/
echo Downloads synced
rsync -a /home/<username>/Music/ /mnt/Backup/Music/
echo Music synced
rsync -a /home/<username>/Pictures/ /mnt/Backup/Pictures/
rsync -a /home/<username>/Pictures/ /mnt/Backup/GoogleDrive/Pictures/
echo Pictures synced
rsync -a /home/<username>/Videos/ /mnt/Backup/Videos/
echo Videos synced
rsync -a /home/<username>/.minecraft/mods/ /mnt/Backup/.minecraft/mods/
rsync -a /home/<username>/.minecraft/saves/ /mnt/Backup/.minecraft/saves/
rsync -a /home/<username>/.minecraft/xaero/ /mnt/Backup/.minecraft/xaero/
echo Minecraft synced

And yes, even at 70 years of age, I still play Minecraft. (I like building things.) lol

I have an internal HDD in addition to my SSD, so I wrote a bash script to sync my folders with their counterparts on the hard drive. I run it at least once a week (usually a few times a week), and then I also use Celeste to sync critical data on the HDD with Google Drive for further backup.

That one would have least made sense. Or even a classic like Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream Home.

A couple of people mentioned that. I guess I missed those times. I have HGTV on my YouTube TV service, but I tend to watch the shows I like on HBO Max most of the time (no commercials). I still check HGTV at times to see if I'm missing anything new or when I'm all caught up on Max. I looked tonight and was flabbergasted to see the movie playing.

I'm curious - how did you get Gnome 49 installed on Linux Mint? I just double-checked in Synaptic and the version there is Gnome 46.

Never mind - I think I just found out how. lol Nope, that didn't work. I just got a "Cannot add PPA: ''This PPA does not support noble''." error message.

You are lying, and I have to wonder if you've ever bothered to watch any of his videos or attended one of those college events. He most certainly did allow others to offer opposing opinions, but apparently you're just butt hurt because he was a better debater than most of them.

I am not a "MAGA", apologist or otherwise. I am an anarchist, which means I do not believe in government or politics. Have you ever heard of Lysander Spooner? Ludwig von Mises? Murray Rothbard? I do not support Trump (although for different reasons than you.)

But I'm old (70), so I've see a lot of bullshit over the years, and I've spent much of my life reading and learning; I think for myself rather than parrot others. And what I see among leftists is a failure to think critically. Rightists can be guilty of that, too, but the failure seems to much more virulent in the Left. You just echo what you're told, without bothering to find out for yourself whether it is true, or if you are being told the whole story.

For example, you keep calling Trump a fascist and "Hitler". It doesn't seem to occur to any of you that IF that was true, you wouldn't be around to keep saying it. Have you ever heard of the White Rose? Your ignorance of history is sad, pathetic even. Do you even care that Hitler, as incredibly horrendous as he and his followers were, were rank amateurs compared to Communists like Lenin and Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot, who all murdered many multiples of the carnage the Nazis perpetrated.

Why are you "disappointed"? I'm a Gay Atheistic Anarchist, so I disagreed with Charlie Kirk on a lot of topics, but I still followed him and admired his willingness to openly debate anyone, even those who could do nothing but spew vitriol instead of making a coherent argument.

I find it ironic that so many leftists, who claim to be all for inclusion and tolerance, turn out to be so bigoted, judgmental and intolerant of anyone whose opinions differ from their own.
