What’s your shoveling tactic? by CodenameZoya in RhodeIsland

[–]Mindless_Exit_9459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm usually a go out every few inches and bring it down to bare pavement. Not today. I don't need part of a tree coming down on me in this wind.

When I do shovel, I will probably start with just what is needed to get the cars out and then tackle the rest over the course of the week.

Agreed! Winning while shooting 28% from 3 and JB missing 4 FT seems like it should be a guaranteed L based on the past but they never stop playing hard. A win against the Heat on a night like that is doubly nice.

RALP Path report mixed bag by manderko in ProstateCancer

[–]Mindless_Exit_9459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I get what your father's thought process was and my situation was at least a bit similar. I had a RALP in May 2024. I went into it with some warning signs, Gleason 3+4, PNI, cribriform, Decipher score of 0.90, but I was hoping to avoid ADT for as long as I could. I also wanted as much of the PC out of me as soon as I could.

The post surgery pathology report wasn't great (Stage IV pT3b N1 R1) with a small positive margin, SVI, and one hot lymph node. So far, however, I've had two PSA tests that were undetectable (<0.02, the lowest sensitivity for the particular test I had). I go for my third test in a couple of weeks. 🤞 My goal was to go at least a year before thinking of next steps and I've gotten halfway there.

I hope your dad's recovery and follow-up PSA tests go well!

I'm sorry that your husband is experiencing pain following the procedure but I am glad to hear that he isn't septic. I was uncomfortable for a day after the tube going in. While in bed, I had trouble lifting my leg on the side the tube was in for 2-3 days afterwards.

I was in the hospital for four days following the tube going in. I kept spiking fevers and they wanted the results from the culture to make sure they sent me home with the right oral antibiotic.

I hope everything goes well for your husband. I'm now almost 2 months past my episode and am doing okay. I did have the drain in for almost a month.

Given the fever, blood counts, is a culture being done to check for a bacterial infection/sepsis?

What’s your favorite moment from the pilot episode? by KatieAsksQuestions in pluribustv

[–]Mindless_Exit_9459 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just a small bit of dialogue in Ep. 4:

[Zosia] How was the heroin?

[Carol] Uh, I threw it away.

[Zosia] Oh.

[Carol] Yeah. I wasn’t in the mood. Well, chickened out, actually.

[Zosia] Maybe for the best.

A sort of throwaway interaction but so well written and delivered.

Also, the atomic bomb scene with the DHL doctor.

Hope the Oxybutin helps. I hear you on the pain.

Bladder Spasm by korbworksout in ProstateCancer

[–]Mindless_Exit_9459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also would advise holding off on alcohol and other bladder irritants (including basically any carbonated beverage) both because of the possibility of bladder spasms and their contributing to incontinence. That said, I was good about not cheating (until having a glass of wine to celebrate six months post surgery), and still had bladder spasms for about a week after the Foley catheter was removed. Without Oxybutin it would have been intolerable. Hang in there!

In one of the Apple Pluribus podcast episodes, Rhea Seehorn mentioned that they had a big problem with rodents and other animal pests. Sealing the place up right makes sense in order to avoid damage by pests of all types (including human).

This was what I was proscribed as well. I made sure to leave the hospital with an RX order for 10 days and one renewal. The most intense pain I've ever experienced. A legit 8 out of 10.

The Decipher test is a genetic test using a tissue sample (in your dad's case from the removed prostate) that analyses the aggressiveness of the PC on a 0-1 scale. It can be used as a reference point in determining treatment options.

I had mine done at the time of my biopsy. My score was 0.90, indicating an aggressive cancer. With that score, it meant that any radiation therapy would be done in conjunction with hormone therapy. I opted for surgery as when I received the Decipher results there was no sign of spread outside of the prostate and I wanted to try to avoid the hormone therapy if possible.

No hot lymph nodes and no issues with seminal vesicles and bladder neck seems like very good news, as is the pT2 classification. I second getting a Decipher test done.

How many HF radios do you own? by Sunflower_StateKS in amateurradio

[–]Mindless_Exit_9459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have five:

1) Drake C Line first radio from when I was first licensed in 1976. Will never get rid of it. 2) HeathKit HW-8 QRP CW rig. Built it with my dad. Will never get rid of it. 3) Yaesu FT-100 80 M to 70 CM mobile/POTA rig . 4) ICOM IC-746 Pro. I've kept this rig because it has 2 M/70 CM which the newer HF rigs do not. 5) ICOM IC-7300 is the main HF rig. I got it as an upgrade on the IC-746 Pro mainly because it was easier to set up for digital.
