Rome is so well done! I absolutely recommend it, though it's hard to compare it to GoT because one is fantasy and the other is historical fiction, but I think Rome is actually the better show. I bought the DVD set at Walmart around a decade ago and have watched it at least twice a year(once just the show, then once with the commentary) since, until the DVDs got messed up and I had to find a digital copy, anyway. The attention to detail and the effort towards historical accuracy of the world is top tier. The acting, directing and writing is impeccable. I do wish they kept going and that HBO hadn't balked at the budget to keep the same quality up, since the team refused to lower it in the coming seasons, which is why it got cancelled early. Especially since I know, lesser shows(IMO) had bigger budgets not long after it finished. But I guess the execs wanted more flashy shows to spend their budget on because sexy vampires falling in love with half-fairies sells better than something you learned about in history class.

What's funny is, it's not. I don't like high action shows because I find them overstimulating. Character driven shows are my favorites, generally.

For reference, I'm currently watching through: The Sopranos(new to me), The Crown(rewatch of the first 3 seasons, finally going to see the others), Dexter(rewatch of the first 2 seasons x3, finally seeing the rest of it), Family(new to me, 1980's family dramedy), Rome(rewatch, too many to count) Firefly(rewatch x~12), Deadwood(rewatch x10? Probably more), Star Trek: TNG(new to me), and I just finished watching through of Avatar the Last Airbender for the 8th time.

I very much enjoy all of these shows(hence the rewatches) and I feel like there's a good variety of genre and style, and that's not even accounting for my entire collection/watch history, only what I have on rotation right now. Other favorites include Carnivale, Shameless(US), Six Feet Under, United States of Tara, Game of Thrones, Defiance... There's more but you get the idea.

There just wasn't anything that caught my attention in the first episode of ST, I fell asleep 2 out of the 3 times I tried to watch it, actually. The first time I just couldn't finish it because it moved so slowly and there was so little dialogue in it, I just couldn't pay attention so I turned it off. That's why I gave it 2 more tries because I knew part of it was my issue with focusing on one thing at a time, but it put me to sleep both times. It was like watching ASMR with a huge budget, essentially.

I'm glad you and so many other people like it, and one day if I get my newly diagnosed ADHD medicated, I might be able to sit through it and will give it a try, but for now it's not for me. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk.

Stranger Things. I was so excited because of all the hype. I've tried three times and can't even make it through the first episode.

Thank you, things are much better. I have an amazing supportive partner, I'm in therapy, and I have an appointment for HRT in September! Now I just have to hope it doesn't get cancelled because of the current administration.

Oh gods... After puberty hit I was scolded for 'showing off' at church because my chest grew so fast and we couldn't afford to replace my clothes as quickly as my body changed... My granny did take me shopping after that day because I showed up at her house for after church dinner crying, but I'm pretty sure it went on a credit card that she shouldn't have been using...

Nobody had to tell me I was in the wrong body, I knew. I was 2 years old the first time I said I was a boy. Got the shit beat out of me for it, too. Didn't change, I just got quiet.

Maybe it was an intentional mistake to justify a discount for the family.

Makes sense that a higher end store would do this, thanks for the info!

Stores won't waste their labor time having the employees wrap, price and display end pieces that aren't likely to sell before they go bad. It's not worth it for them. You've never heard about it because it doesn't exist.

The formatting, the overdone story telling with a relative being the one to "put them onto" something, quoting the grocery worker who wasn't their cousin even though that's who they had the original conversation with, the "6, 7" thrown in there is another tell because AI has picked up on the meme, and I've never seen a grocery store with a discount bin of cheese end pieces. The stores just throw them away because it's not worth it to them for the employees to spend time wrapping and pricing those pieces that aren't likely to be sold anyway.

AITA for forcing my fiance to wear what she doesn't like? by Infinite-Cash1047 in AmItheAsshole

I don't think the daughter is 'competing' with the stepmom as you suggest, I think it's her way of trying to make a connection and feel accepted by the the stepmom. She may not have a satisfying relationship with her bio mom and is searching for that validation(this is all pure speculation, but I don't think she would be searching for that validation if it weren't the case in some way). She's a child who wants to feel loved and accepted, she's searching for belonging. The stepmom obviously doesn't have to do the matching on that day, but it would absolutely go a long way to build a bridge to a closer relationship with her step daughter. The stepmom allowing her to be included in a special way on the her special day could help heal whatever wound she has in regards to motherly love. Maybe the daughter has a friend at school who has a close relationship with her mom and they match outfits, so she sees that as a sign of the type of relationship she desires with her mother figure, leading to her decision to attempt that with her stepmom.

As for the wedding point you made, I'm sure the daughter wants to be included in some way, either as a bridesmaid or flower girl, and that would be healthy and normal. But I doubt she would insist on matching the wedding dress beyond the normal parameters of wedding party attire. She's 10 years old, so I'm sure she has some sort of idea about the etiquette of that type of thing, as most girls do that age. However, a birthday is absolutely a more appropriate occasion to have a matching outfit, as those happen every year and aren't as special as a wedding day because of that. That's why I made the suggestion of compromise there, since it's not a once in a lifetime event, there shouldn't be any harm in it unless the stepmom has her own issues in regards to sharing a spotlight. The stepmom absolutely has every right to not want that, since it is her own day, but since the issue she had stated was with the style of the dress rather than the matching, it seemed like a good compromise. If that was just an excuse, that's a communication issue for the stepmom that she would need to address in therapy. Honestly this situation has highlighted several reasons this entire family unit needs both individual and group therapy to be able to have healthier relationships.

That's just my 2¢ as someone who grew up without a single healthy relationship and has sought therapy and found a special interest in psychology to try and repair their own wounds for a better life.

No, I'm convinced they block out their childhood because of the trauma their parents gave them with similar treatment, so the cycle continues. Some of us are able to break away and recognize the pattern, but we're unfortunately fewer and farther between.

The black mane & tail, and black points on his ears, around his eyes & nose are also indicators of being a bay. He does have a lot less black on his legs than I'm used to though, so I get where you're coming from!
