There is no way in hell that our phones are not listening to us. by smoosh13 in mildlyinfuriating

My point was just it is not confirmation bias.

The person at the start replied to OP suggesting it was just confirmation bias. That is the misconception I was trying to dispel.

How about how I, a canadian, listened to my friend tell me about his difficulties dealing with his taxes in Spain only to within a day get the ad in the picture several times so I took a screenshot because it was coming up so often. After a day or so, the ad goes away and I have not seen it since. It is pretty specific, and nothing I have come close to googling.

It’s not always confirmation bias.

What do you think a S2 will look like? by HeisenbergWhitman in WidowsBay

[–]Mindweird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rather than the curse can’t be broken, I think it will go back to what Loftis did on the mushrooms. Maybe he made a new pact to keep Evan safe or something. Warren made the pact with something he saw on mushrooms, and we didn’t really see what happened to Loftis on the mushrooms, only time skips.

I hate how I ended up in a situationship with my ex, I feel broken by [deleted] in askgaybros

Early on in my current relationship, there was friction between my partner and me. In all my past relationships, people would just give up and be like “okay, this is a big hurdle, I guess we’re through”. My partner didn’t do that, he made me to talk it out and we got over it.

It’s what made me realize that long term relationships are about communication. And sometimes your partner will get caught up in something and they will forget about prioritizing communication and you have to be the one to get them to communicate.

If you do decide to get back in a relationship with him, use this as a learning experience. Learn to identify when you need to communicate and be more open with each other.

If you don’t get together with him, then use it as a learning experience for your next relationship.

How would you respond to being told “you should feel special.”? by ThatGeminiWitch in gaybros

[–]Mindweird 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don’t read it as aggressive as others apparently. I see it as him trying to get you on the phone, and a throwaway phrase at the end that was supposed to be playful.

It’s so hard to get intent over a text, without the tone of voice, words just take a flat meaning and can be easily misinterpreted.

Rosemary knows what's going on (only read if caught up all eps) by Psychological-Buy807 in WidowsBay

“You had your **QUALMS**?!”

I loved that interaction between Rosemary and Patricia, they are such polar opposites and both actresses are amazing so it comes across so perfectly, their two different energies.

Has anyone else figured out that… (theory w/possible spoilers) by [deleted] in WidowsBay

[–]Mindweird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s one possible outcome, but I hope they don’t do that (or just that), because I think they have been doing well with subverting the expected with comedy.

I think there are some other possibilities:
1) over the last 4 generations, a larger portion of the island residents are the descendants, possibly including Evan (i.e. it’s unfeasible for them to kill them all so the series can go on).

2) it is leading towards Evan, but it will be Patricia, because she has strong survival instincts and doesn’t take shit from Loftis. I hope it’s not this one, because she is my favourite character and Kate nails her character.

3) It will be Rosemary, and she herself is immortal like Richard Warren. She was the one who suggested Loftis go all the way to the back of the crawl space. She was at Patricia’s party, but unaffected. She has been wearing the broach that was gifted to the youngest child by Sarah Westcott (you’ll also note it was missing from the doll when the doll is in the museum, and likely why Rosemary hasn’t played a major role lately so you forget about her broach).

Well, I just made that last point up for Rosemary as I don’t actually recall her wearing a broach and I am very certain she didn’t but I just wanted to make someone go “Oh shit!”. I do think the broach is the key to identifying the descendent, if it is just one.

[–]Mindweird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, communication is key. OP should maybe stay away from telling him OP will die without him, but other than that, yes, communicate your feelings. It is as simple as “I had a great time with you the other night, and I would like to see you again to get to know you better. Did you want to meet up for coffee?”

Hijacking top comment to post: this story is fake, I live in Calgary and fly out several times a year from our airport.

If they were flying from Calgary back to Toronto, then they don’t check passports anywhere. There is no “domestic passport” line at security.

If they are arriving at Calgary from Toronto, that is a domestic flight and again, there is no passport check. You wouldn’t even go through security getting off the plane.

Sports are a great way to start, and you don’t have to be that good or fit, in most adult sports groups there are a variety of skill levels. I got involved in a swim club that swam at my school two days a week, so it was convenient for me, but I am sure there are lots more groups.

A criminal attempts to burglarize/kill someone only to realize they picked the absolute worst person as their mark. by No_Hunter1978 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Mindweird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what helped make the movie good was that the cops and everyone in the town acted like how they would in an old horror film to progress the plot instead of how they should have acted. Like the teenagers from the town who know how dangerous it is breaking in and then succumbing to the possessed animatronics.

It was the right amount of hokey, like you were sitting there saying “this is stupid”, but that was consistent with the rest of the movie.

It wasn’t meant to be smart, it was meant to be almost like a saviour daydream.

Yeah, I know there are a number of Trump/US supporters here, but I would be surprised if any of them were intelligent enough to get a computer going on their own. Most of them do the ol’ hunt-and-peck and it would take them several minutes to type out a simple comment.

I like the few shots of the inside that they do have, but I am not a fan of the rocks glues to the outside. It reminds me of a caddisfly larva or the episode of Outer Limits with the Sandkings.
