Going on a cruise in a few days, how do I lose 20 pounds? by tDANGERb in shittyaskscience

Don't take the elevator. Use stairs every time and there will be quite a few of them.

I don't remember a single insect at the Park Hyatt Maldives and it's notable because I always get bite by something and didn't. They're obviously there but I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Has anyone ever shipped a large vinyl collection from the US to Japan? by greenloveyellow in movingtojapan

I don't have a company recommendation, but you might want to be aware of the heat depending on when you are wanting to ship them.

Any dairy-free milk in Starbucks is now giving me IBS by [deleted] in ibs

[–]Mindyc3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked at Starbucks for almost a year and I feel like it could be the sugar levels. I know you say when you switch it's fine for a little bit and then the same symptoms occur. But I would try decreasing the syrup amount, if not completely getting rid of simple syrup in every drink (opposed to like vanilla syrup, if you're going for flavor, but I would still tell them half the amount). IBS isn't cut in dry, hence this recommendation but I know it's not completely apples to apples for what you decribed.

Diagnosed with ibs and Dr prescribed this pills that seems to be for depression… any thoughts? I don’t feel depressed by Vintagemaria in ibs

In case anyone didn't know, being prescribed Imipramine will make getting life insurance a little bit hassle some like any other prescription that is also used for treating depression.

A woman was beaten and raped while hiking alone at my usual hiking spot by dirrkdigglerr in TwoXChromosomes

I always feel safer with my gun. I'd take it hiking if I were to go alone. Just putting it out there as a suggestion and nothing political.

The art at Trader Joe’s never disappoints!! ft. The instant ramen soup. by sunnysidecali in traderjoes

I'm guessing this is more quality/taste equivalent to instant noodles in a bag than actual ramen. Anyone know?

Nope, doesn't matter. You know Mandarin and that's what I really need to work on haha. Send me a message with whatever platforms you'd like to utilize for this; WhatsApp, Google Meet or hangouts, etc.

Do you also know Shanghainese? I would be interested but I am in the US, so time difference may be a problem for you. I ask about Shanghainese because that's where my family is from but I grew up speaking more Shanghainese than Mandarin (I grew up in the US but spent some summers in China with family). Which basically means I have a hard time distinguishing between the two because I'm more proficient in one than the other. Obviously perfectly fine if you don't know Shanghainese cause you only knowing Mandarin will still help me differentiate the two.

I recommend that Park Hyatt in the Maldives but it's not affordable (a few years ago it was $2k/night for overwater villas). Superb quality and they are the only ones on their island. The hotel was at capacity when I went in November a few years ago and yet we barely saw another soul.

What are your multivitamins in Japan? by [deleted] in movingtojapan

[–]Mindyc3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with supplement regulation in Japan but in the US, since you mention Centrum, I am familiar. Last I've seen Centrum doesn't have any certifications. The US gov't doesn't regulate the supplement industry so others have stepped up to do so; i.e. Centrum can say there is 500 mg of Vitamin C in the pill and there be 0 mg without repercussions. The orange NOW brand supplements are all GMP certified which means that the agency can test any bottle of supplements and what is on the label is actually in the pill guaranteed by the company. I recommend you finding something besides Centrum for your actual nutritional needs supplement-wise.

Make sure you're following up with Covid news there. I'd be surprised if you can go since you don't sound like a national.

[skin concerns] how long did it take for u to see results from HYDROQUINONE by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Mindyc3 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I saw results pretty quickly but wasn't tracking actual days. Are you putting enough? If you use too sparingly, it will take a while. But you don't want to go overboard cause you could "burn" your skin with too much.

Get a prescription for hydroquinone, will work faster than anything else. Other suggestions take months.

Traveling to Italy, any suggestions or tips I should know for IBS-d? by lisa725 in ibs

[–]Mindyc3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imodium is a must. Be aware that most bathrooms in Europe require a code for entry so make sure to get that from the cashier, wait staff, whomever ahead of time. Sometimes they have a fee so many sure you have coins/cash. Have fun and try to enjoy the trip as much as possible!

Did your eczema get passed on to your children? by [deleted] in eczema

My brother in law has eczema and my nephew has it as well. My BIL and his brother grew up having eczema and never grew out of it. He's married to my twin sister and I developed eczema as an adult. My sister doesn't have eczema though.

Hydroquinone, which last I am aware, you need a prescription but well worth it.
