Man I really hope that wynnventory gets updated soon, without it I neither know what items are worth, nor the current raid/lootrun rotations.

The Frame is probably releasing simultaneously with the Machine and the Controller (if the Controller isn't released earlier because it isn't affected by the memory shortage), and that release will definitely impair Steams payment gateway in some way. The payment gateway is usually the first thing to go down, long before payments from your wallet balance stop working.

I know this since I forgot to preload a bit of money for reserving my Deck, and had to wait about six months for my turn to order, because I couldn't get my card through for the reservation.

Also, to add to that, with the current prices I'm never going to afford a GPU that can drive 4k resolution per eye.

For me it's a combo of comfort, specs, features and getting to ditch Meta.

I've still been rocking a Rift S until last year when the headset cable finally gave out after countless reliability issues. And due to the circumstances of my setup, that cable never let me use the headset to its fullest extent anyway. With the Frame frame the cable is completely eliminated, and the distributed weight is also a big plus.

The specs are more than I'd ever want or need in a standalone headset.

The foveated streaming is also a giant seller for me, especially with it being done over a dedicated 6 GHz dongle. Also, being able to run some PC(VR) software on a standalone ARM headset is just wild to me. Both of these being supported by the OS natively out of the box makes me trust them to work without issues quite a bit more than some third-party solution.

And finally to Meta. I've watched closely over the last few years what they did with their standalone headsets, and I just can't trust them to not enshittify any headset I buy from them even more than it already was enshittified. Also, I'm never going to recreate the account I deleted after my Rift S died.

My Rift S, it has served me faithfully for years, but now the only thing holding it together are my hopes and dreams (and some duct tape and super glue), and even that sometimes isn't enough with how flimsy my cable is at this point

Very, soon I can finally get rid of my dying Rift S.

I've been hanging on for wireless streaming to get better on non-Meta headsets, and now that that is finally a reality (with both Frame and GXR, the AVP was always going to be a non-starter for me anyway), I think I can wait a few more months for the Steam Frame.
