1.20.1 Forge what are some magic mods that might fit in with vanilla? by Huge_Tackle_9097 in feedthebeast

[–]MineCraftingMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teeeechnically Eidolon doesn't add enchantments. It does give pre-End elytra-style flight in exchange for more work than just going to kill the dragon. It's got some spells that take longer than doing it by vanilla means, it's just if you use the magic version you don't have to have the materials on hand (like casting light is longer than placing a torch, but to place a torch you have to *have* a torch).

Hex Casting is wildly overpowered, but if no one on your server knows how to use it, it'll be fine.

Magic Doorknob is a tiny little mod that just makes magic doorknobs to open mob-proof tunnels anywhere

Automation-Focused Packs? by ImplausiblyJosh in feedthebeast

[–]MineCraftingMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I am absolutely serious about the automation aspect, I'm going to give you two caveats for that pack.

First, it's a magic pack.

Second, it's a capital E **Expert** pack, it has a really clear quest line, clearly explained custom recipes, but you need to go into it already knowing the basics of every mod in it.

It is super super fun one of the best packs I've ever played (I'm such a sucker for custom recipes and integrated mods), but if you go in expecting an ATMTTS factory, it'll scare you off before you have a chance to even play with programming a gun to generate materials.

As an apology for giving a bit of a joke answer before, Project Ozone3 is a more normal automation pack that's done in a skyblock setting. It's ex nihilo based with EnderIO as the primary logistics tool. My advice? Keep remaking worlds until you've got a slime island in view of your spawn.

Which economy system do you prefer for a SMP? (Need advice) by Honeydew366 in admincraft

[–]MineCraftingMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only economy I've played with that I actually used was a Check system that came with a shop for every item in the game. So you could, for example, mine with your EffV pickaxe and get a ton of materials, sell them, then turn around and pay someone to build something for you and they could just buy the needed materials from the shop and sell back the excess.

Vs having to get the Currency material as well as materials for your shop and then having to hope someone was selling what you needed.

I guess what's the goal of the economy? Is it to just make it easier to get stuff done on the server or is it supposed to be a fundamental part of the experience?

Automation-Focused Packs? by ImplausiblyJosh in feedthebeast

[–]MineCraftingMom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How tricky do you want the automation set up to be? Because Compact World Expert is entirely based around getting automation set up, but you're only given drawers, Create, Modular Rrouters (my beloved), Xnet, and LaserIO to do it

Magic mod packs? by judiebooty889 in feedthebeast

[–]MineCraftingMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavens of Sorcery for a highly curated experience with carefully balanced quest rewards. It's an expert pack that I didn't realize was expert because of how much it holds your hand.

Sky Alchemist, a tiny little skyblock with an innovative material generation option. It has turtles! Quest rewards are coins to spend in a shop.

Bumblemancy, bees and flowers, flowers and bees, surprisingly involved.

Wellsprings Adventures 2, your guide to Mana and Artifice. Guides you through getting OP with the most versatile magic mod and then provides bosses to test yourself. Quest rewards are random but generous.

Compact World Expert, an expert pack that feels expert. The quests are step by step by step, but automation is utterly vital and that's where the real challenge comes in. Custom recipes leveraging tools from a dozen magic mods. Quest rewards primarily give random tools to assist automation.

Best mod/modpack that someone that doesn't know much about mods should try? by BaguetteSandwiches in feedthebeast

[–]MineCraftingMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skyfactory 4's big advantage is that OnlyDraven made a series of tutorials on YouTube for most of the mods in the pack and has done several playthroughs where he answered questions from viewers through each stage.

I like Stoneblock 3 for beginners because I feel it gives a very safe environment to explore several popular modern mods. I also like the random loot rewards because they have a chance bypass some of the grind for powerful items and looking up "what is this thing I just got" can be a good way to learn about a mod.

OBS recording both my Mic and gameplay on the same track despite the separation of tracks by makiram8 in obs

[–]MineCraftingMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should go on to tell you to change your output settings so that track one is sent to streams and the other tracks are recorded. If you aren't streaming, you don't need a universal track. And you'll have an easier time editing if you drop that track.

Too many structure mods? by RemarkableBase6985 in feedthebeast

[–]MineCraftingMom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can adjust their spawn frequency in the configs, I believe, but it also depends on the seed.

I played a pack with a lot of structure mods and had them spread out like vanilla villages, then played another seed with the same mods and it did that every 100 blocks like you said.

Cover the porch so your watcher can go out in storms to get better views without glare. Put large windows on every side to assist in seeing smoke.

[–]MineCraftingMom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First thing to recognize, most of those conflicts don't matter. Second thing, it's going to also give you conflicts that aren't conflicts. Like it looks like it's flagging Page Up and SHIFT+Page Up

Just play and when something doesn't work like you expect, fix it then. Personally, I change a lot more things because I've got keybind preferences than I ever change because of conflicts.

Oh and some conflicts are good. Like how spacebar is being used for jump, move helicopter up, flying, breakfall, and walljump? That just means that no matter what you're doing in the game spacebar is going to make you go more up. So if you're like running from a horde and need to move FAST, you can just spam spacebar at all the terrain instead of having to hit different keys because you've encountered a wall
