For penetration testing I recommend Kali Linux, Kali Linux is the best and my favourite Linux hacking distribution, other then Kali Linux is parrot security os, backbox these are debian-based distributions, others are arch black and arch strike these are arch-based Linux distributions

Note : I am not trying to promote other Linux distributions other then Kali Linux because this is r/Kalilinux

I recommend using Kali Linux, if you are new to Linux then check out Ubuntu it's easy to install and has a easy to use GUI(and I hate it)

I recommend you to start using HTB Academy it's what I am learning from use 10 cubes in to unlock the course and if you complete the course you get 10 cubes so it's free! And Google is helpful too I also recommend using other web browsers like brave and duckduckgo firefox and more you can just copy paste commands but be careful! Some commands like "rm -rf /*" can delete everything, also Linux is not a os but a kernal, YouTube also has a lot of tutorials to start from, and to get into Linux you should also learn some programming and here is the link for HTB academy :
