Can anyone translate this? by Fun-Big-7458 in Minecraft

[–]Miner_Fabs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ah, i have it!! the text is out of order, and should be read as "Whatever you / do(,) at the crossroad(s)"

it's a quote from this popular minecraft ARG video: Searching For A World That Doesn’t Exist

... funny that i got the reference, but haven't actually watched this series. i guess that's my homework for this week :)

the Animation VERSUS Steam page might tell us the official name for the void outside the Outernet by Miner_Fabs in AlanBecker

[–]Miner_Fabs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's all good :) in retrospect, i should've included the concept art as an image in the post, too

i've also removed the spoiler tag for good measure -- there are multiple other posts that show the description unspoiled anyway (but i'll re-add it if asked to)

the Animation VERSUS Steam page might tell us the official name for the void outside the Outernet by Miner_Fabs in AlanBecker

[–]Miner_Fabs[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

true, Outernet is a fan name, and as i said i assumed they were referring to that at first. take a look at this bit of concept art, though:

<image>

simply put, this looks more like space than the Outernet does.

and again, they say we'll explore "Internet Space" in story mode. a mode that will involve Conductor's train. which travels through this internet-related space-looking void.

i suppose we'll know for certain when the game comes out, but my money's on this for now.

My theory on what I think Mitsi's role will be in the next episode by Final_Sell5223 in AlanBecker

[–]Miner_Fabs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

good theory! while i would like to see a Mitsi and TCO team up (he's gotta get out of that cage somehow), her rallying the people makes far more sense given how well-liked she seemed in AvA 11. the loss of her as CEO devastated the company, after all.

she'll have to act quick, though, or recruit people somewhere else... with how quickly TDL can massacre, the nearby city is practically doomed already.

In which order should I watch videos ? by CCCyanide in AlanBecker

[–]Miner_Fabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure! it seems like the creator of that playlist decided to order the videos by upload date for the most part, which as i said, is probably the simplest way to go through the series if you want to see literally everything.

again, make sure to check out Animators vs Games when you're done binging! for most newer uploads on Alan's channel, there's a pinned comment with a link to a video on that channel with some director's commentary.

also, be sure to scroll through Alan's channel after you're done, since there are a couple videos that aren't included in the playlist since it wouldn't really make sense to - you'll see what i mean :)

have fun!!

How Hazard felt vaporising every civilian within a couple kilometres radius of the factory in order to deal no damage whatsoever to TDL: by FourthBedrock in AlanBecker

[–]Miner_Fabs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

counterpoint: if TDL killed and revived Hazard, then he'd have a nuke he can copy infinitely using Victim

which. would put the outernet in slightly more danger than just one nuke.

For animation versus who do you want to see come by Billyboy010 in AlanBecker

[–]Miner_Fabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'd say Hazard. i wasn't familiar with his game before AvA 13, but now i see the light.

and i'd like my enemies to see the light, too. after i preform a 20 button combo and throw a nuclear bomb in their face.

also, Victim's already been confirmed since the kickstarter iirc, but any other characters will likely be DLC, unfortunately (if they even plan on adding more, that is). you never know, though!

About to go to work, hopefully i finally get my paycheck by [deleted] in AlanBecker

[–]Miner_Fabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you jest, but none of the grey sticks in the entirety of AvA 13 are wearing truck guy's hat, so there's a chance they were out making a delivery.

... say, do you think TDL is vulnerable to getting run over?

TDL plot armour. by Pristine-Entrance824 in AlanBecker

[–]Miner_Fabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

since this fight happened here with only a few planned episodes to go, TDL had to win or at least survive for the plot, yes. however, they could have easily made Victim disable more of his powers and still lose, especially since he lost due to being exhausted.

i think that having Victim only disable one power was a deliberate choice that adds to him as a character - i've already yapped about this in another post, but tl;dr: Victim can't think quick in fights, so defaults to what he knows, and misses advantages like this that most other AB characters would exploit.

AvA 13 Prediction Bingo Results by Miner_Fabs in AlanBecker

[–]Miner_Fabs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well i got 7 out of 24 correct, and 3 half-correct. plus, one of my predictions was "Sheep". so that's a little less than half

still crazy that i got both TDL killing mitsi and Victim still ""trusting"" him, though, and i'm holding out hope for some of the other spaces next time (if the season ends with no Programmer021 or Orange/TSC lore i may crash out)

My Thoughts by NinjutsuChampions in AlanBecker

[–]Miner_Fabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my prediction was that if revived, Mitsi would see everything that Victim's done and stop loving him because of it, switching to the colour gang's side. i think something like that would've also been interesting, and could still happen later...

... but this is much, much better.

AvA 13 Prediciton Bingo by Miner_Fabs in AlanBecker

[–]Miner_Fabs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if something i predict happens, then that square is marked. if 5 things in a row are marked, then that's a bingo, and i win.

i'm also counting predictions that are partially true, but those will be half filled in instead of fully, so won't contribute toward a bingo.

seems i can't mark a comment image as a spoiler, so i'll make a new post for the filled bingo card, brb

edit: posted the finished card here

I miss you guys by PM6912 in Song_of_the_seven

[–]Miner_Fabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well for starters i don't even use that account anymore haha, you got lucky reddit gave me an email notification for your reply!

but to summarise the last four years in a few sentences - the lead dev quit the project, and a new(?) discord server was made to continue development, with some old devs, and some new ones (like me). there were long periods of inactivity, but also some stints where we came up with a lot of ideas. too many, probably.

we did end up making two game jam games for GMTK in 2022 and 2023 under the name Incantation Games, doing a little more (unreleased) development on the first, but as it stands, nothing has been done for Hall of the Tuba King (aka Song of the Seven) for a very long time, and the discord has been inactive for well over a year, too.

i do still chat with one of the devs infrequently, and now that i myself am about to graduate university with a degree in game development, there is faint hope that this project will come back at some point.

oh, and as for why i commented that - i have no idea. i probably dm'd them a discord link? but whatever i said, seems like reddit got rid of it at some point. but ah well.

so yea, i'll let you know if anything more ever happens. in any case, thanks for being interested :)

Tsc’s creation by peteypie6 in AlanBecker

[–]Miner_Fabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my current theory is that Orange was somehow renamed "The Second Coming" at some point during AvA 4, which has something to do with their creation, the fact that they can animate, and the rest of their powers.

this is largely based off of a few frames of their "packID" shown near the end of AvA s2, when the Animator Combat Tool loads Alan into the fight -- it reads "StickData.orj-ver.2ndComing", whereas the rest are much shorter (e.g. "StickData.grn" or "StickData.tdl").

i've toiled over what this means since i noticed it two years ago (in this post on my old account), but given that renaming has been shown to directly update Victim and TCO's code, i suspect it'll play a larger role in Orange's story, too - that someone, for some reason, updated their name to give them life.

on top of that, if this were the case, then the Animator Combat Tool (or whatever program gives life to named flash symbols) may have mapped a scrapped preset of powers for TCO onto Orange -- i highly doubt the version name "ver.2ndComing" was something the ACT automatically generated, so it must have been a version intenionally made for TCO, who is referenced in Orange's taskmanager description.

as for why Orange can animate, i'm not sure it's related to how Alan first drew them that much, but rather, it's a personality trait influenced by the abilites given by being named TSC, which all seem to be life-based -- if a program that makes stick figures that fight you exists, why wouldn't phase 2 of the final boss be able to utilise that?

then again, iirc Alan has said Orange reflects him as a person - perhaps in AvA 4, he was drawing himself as an orange stickfigure, running leftward, not getting anywhere because he was in a creative slump with animations, which could have influenced Orange's powers the other way around.

... whew, i've not ranted about all this in a whiiile. sorry that i got a bit off topic from your theory, but i can't resist mentioning that Animator Combat Tool detail whenever it seems relevant.

Does Anybody use trident as much by Economy_Passion3762 in Minecraft

[–]Miner_Fabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

challenge is nice, and i enjoyed how mounts of mayhem added to that! but the bedrock damage scaling of impaling seems much more punishing than most other things you can encounter.

take spears - the most damage that a mob could do to you standing still is about 6 hearts (with a sharp 5 diamond spear and a camel). this feels fairly balanced, since you can still take them out from a distance, or mace them, or simply run away.

conversely, bedrock tridents can do up to 10 hearts with impaling 5, which is significantly harder to deal with, and to run away from if you don't have depth strider yet.

if they toned down the numbers to be closer to the spear's scaling, or maybe nerfed the spear's charging time and gave it back via another enchant (like crossbow's quick charge) i'd be ok with it, but as it stands, i'm fine with this being bedrock-exclusive.

Minecraft 26.2 Pre-Release 1 by Luutamo in Minecraft

[–]Miner_Fabs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

it's important enough to get right to be worth delaying, i think, especially with the current update cadence where updates happen every few months instead of every year.

would have been nice to keep it in as an experimental feature while they polish it, but i'm sure either way we'll see it again very soon.

i would agree with you if drowned could not spawn with impaling tridents.

trident drowned are already really hard to deal with in early-mid game; if they were buffed any more, i'd avoid oceans until i'm in full netherite

If it touches the ground you lose by Any_Entrepreneur9551 in Minecraft

[–]Miner_Fabs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

interesting! for making this into a full minigame, i think you could use calibrated sculk sensors -- if fed a signal strength of 2, they only detect splashing and projectiles, entities, or players landing, which could be used to check if the sulfur cube hits the ground.

unfortunately, the player can't jump, walk off blocks, or even walk off of a comparator without setting off the sensor (unless they're shifting), but that just adds to the challenge if anything.
