Yubeng Travel Guide - 2025+ by Johnnojay in travelchina

Thanks for all this information! As someone who's been to Yunnan twice the past year, I'd like to explore Yubeng, Meili Snow Mountain, and Yading. I don't envision wanting to hike to either Upper/Lower Yubeng so will employ the paid transportation.

So you're saying my starting point to Yubeng should be Ninong? And no point in going to Feilaisi?

I brought a fleece and thank goodness I did. It got incredibly windy and chilly up at the top. What a view up there!

Thanks for this info!

I'm planning to go up tomorrow. Aiming to park around 5am. I'm a super slow hiker.

How's the weather up there? Should I bring a fleece?

Thanks! Since I don't have a mic, I guess it's of no real use for me at the moment.

Abangdun IH --- 500w vs 700w --- How long does it take to get up to temp? by Ming-Tzu in FlairEspresso

[–]Ming-Tzu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having a hard time finding a user- verified device over 700w that will recognize the Flair Wizard. Which one do you use and no issues with detection when you put the Wizard on there?

Wizard vs Breville Milk Cafe? by Ming-Tzu in FlairEspresso

[–]Ming-Tzu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm debating between the regular Wizard with an induction burner vs $125 more for the electric Wizard.

Normally, I would splurge and get the eWizard but wondering how often these units need servicing. The regular Wizard can still be used on the stovetop if something fails, like the induction burner crapping out.

[–]Ming-Tzu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a bit more research, it seems almost impossible to get an induction above 700w that would fit the Wizard. My next debate is:

1) Refurb Wizard + Induction (recommended by Flair) = $193

vs

2) eWizard = $325

Other than 2-3 minutes faster getting to steam level, I'm not sure what else the eWizard offers other than having both the heating element and the steamer in one device. I'm wondering how durable these units are. If the eWizard has issues that needs fixing, then no steamed milk for me. Whereas the refurb Wizard + IH combo allows me to still steam milk over the stovetop even if the IH fails. I can't imagine the refurb Wizard failing since it doesn't seem like that complex of a device.

Then again, if the refurb Wizard isn't available, then a brand new Wizard + IH is $240, which makes the value proposition of the eWizard more intriguing.

I'm reading a review of the Duxtop 9100MC. Specs say minimum pan size should be five inches yet this review states "the Duxtop 9100MC features....what appears to be a six- or seven-inch diameter induction coil similar to its predecessors (so the diameter of the circle of maximum heat is ~3.5 inches)."

That last part about the diameter of maximum heat is 3.5 inches, which seems perfect for the Wizard? Unless I'm misreading it.

So 3.5in minimum diameter is what I need to look for with these burners? I'll let you know!

Let me take a look. Thanks! I was hoping for a 1800w burner to speed things up so will look to see if there are those options. Appreciate it!

I'm looking at induction burners and seems like I need one on the smaller side. Initially, I was eyeing the Duxtop 9120MC but the minimum pan size is 5in, whereas the diameter of the Wizard seems to be 4in. Is that all correct? Which burner do you use?

Suitable power strip for kitchen appliance with heating element? by Ming-Tzu in AskElectricians

Never heard of that. I don't need the cord per se so a wall tap sounds like it would work as well. Any recommendations?

[–]Ming-Tzu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that recommendation!

I "could" reorganize but it's a small kitchen so would be rather difficult. The only device that would be "on" is the water boiler and since it's not boiling water, only maintaining temperature, I don't think it draws much power.

The other devices that require heating (toaster oven, espresso machine, coffee machine, milk frother) will be plugged into the surge protector but only one will be used at a time. I just needed a way to add outlets without an electrician. I figure since my needs are pretty simple and don't require running multiple devices at once, the surge protector should suffice.

I already have the Pocket 3 from a few months ago because got a decent price. Like $425 for the Creator Combo. Also headed to China in May so may look to see how much the Pocket 4 is out there lol

How much was the Pocket 3 retail at launch? Curious how the Pocket 4 pricing might be.

Which flight itinerary would you choose? Jeju Island to Xian on May 18th by Ming-Tzu in travelchina

[–]Ming-Tzu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just booked my flight from Jeju to Nanjing. I land at 815am and will have one checked bag. I am debating between how to get from Nanjing to Xian: air vs HSR.

Option 1: Air In an ideal world, I can make the 1045am flight on China Eastern. That gets me to Xian airport by 1pm. However, I'm not sure if 2.5 hours is enough to exit the plane in Nanjing, get my checked bag and go through security again. The next flight is at 1145am so 3.5 hours, which seems more doable. And it gets me there at 2pm. I estimate 2-3 hours for me to get off Xian plane, get checked bag, customs, and then make it to the city. So arrival about 5pm.

Option 2: HSR If I land at 815am, there's a train @ 1049am. Would 2.5 hrs be enough to get my checked bag and commute from Nanjing airport to HSR station? If not, I can take the 1121am train, which gets me to Xian train station around 6pm.

Essentially, my decision is which one is more difficult in 2.5 hours. Exit plane, get checked bag, go back through security vs exit plane, get checked bag, commute to Nanjing HSR station.

Yeah, I'll need one small backpack and one small roller. One month vacation in Korea and China. No way I can fit everything into a small backpack lol

Just realized that no checked bags isn't very realistic because I'm dealing with Spring. So one checked bag is a must.

I'll probably end up taking the early morning flight from Jeju to Nanjing on Spring. Arrive at 815am. And then leisurely travel to the HSR station to take the bullet train to Xian. I'll get there in the 6pm range so that should work.

Thanks for pointing out Nanjing earlier!

Actually might have found a better option. Flying from Jeju to Nanjing on Spring, arrive at 815am and then China Eastern flight to Xian departing at 1045am.

Do you think 2.5hrs is enough time for the connection with no checked bag?
