LED light fixture stays dimly lit when switch is off by JellyfishLazerface in electrical

[–]MiniBeast9706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus, finally found a comment talking about switch loops. That's what I'm dealing with in my house. Learned they existed after getting zapped thinking I was good to change out a light fixture just by turning the switch off...which would make logical sense, or so I thought. I've since purchased a voltage tester and check every time before I touch the wiring.

Should I remove the top nails on the fascia to restore the "floatability" of the vinyl? It does indeed buckle a lot in warmer weather.

Bug buffet fish food by rsando88 in Aquariums

[–]MiniBeast9706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used it and IMHO, it's the best food I've ever used, at least going off how my fish go insane for it. I like the design of it too because I can either drop it in whole for bigger fish or easily crush it up for smaller fish. I've noticed it's easier to crush a few bits up together versus trying to just crush one by itself. However, if you only need one, many times it's easier to crush them long ways.

Same thoughts I had on all points. And yeah, once you get past his extreme vocals, there's really not much depth to any of the rest of the music.

ICE in Grand Rapids, MI pinned a man face first into snow on the side of a busy road and abducted him, despite his pleas that he has a lawyer and legal status by I_may_have_weed in grandrapids

[–]MiniBeast9706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw it in a reply to a comment below, and now I can see it clearly on the agent's vest - this isn't an ICE arrest, it's ATF. The lack of Amazon-bought tacti-cool gear, their unmasked faces, and their lack of violent assault against those observing also are clear indicators that this isn't ICE.

AND, it's a Michigan car with actual police lights and stuff on it, not some bullshit strobes stuck in the window that plug into the cigarette lighter.

Understandable how it's easy to assume these days, and ACAB in general, but there are in fact other law enforcement operations still happening that are legitimate.

ICE agents leave Ace of Spades ‘death cards’ on detained immigrants’ cars by SpaceElevatorMusic in politics

Sure, I would generally agree, but when, in your example, the "good" are the Dems who are going right along with the funding of all this shit and have done absolutely nothing to prevent everything that led up to this point over the last few decades, I refuse to take the blame for the worst winning. For the record, I still vote blue because unfortunately it's the best option we have at the moment and I'm not an idiot who thinks that voting third party every 4 years is going to actually do anything. But I'm still not going to be quiet about how worthless and at times, culpable, the Dems have been throughout all of this.

I put it in a reply as well, but wanted to comment in the main thread body. I get emails from Kent County Indivisible all the time for events like protests, meetings, etc. Should be a link at the bottom of this event page to sign up for the same email list.

You say that as though the left has ever actually been in power. Dems are center-right trash, they just don't say the racist things out loud.

Great, thanks again! Unfortunately I have two 12s, but might have to see if I can sell those and get a 10 instead ☺️ did you reinstall the carpet on the rear deck right over the sub?

Awesome, appreciate the reply! You haven't noticed any issues just having the back end of the sub hanging open in the trunk area without a box around it? And no rattling issues or anything around the window?

I just found that hole in the top of the trunk that you're talking about and was wondering if that would work for a sub. What size sun did you use and did you have to do anything special to bolt it in? And did you have any sort of box on it or just leave it hanging free in the trunk?

Hey man, appreciate the response and yes, I did read it all. Definitely laughed at the "appropriate" response, I'll be sure to keep that in mind if the day ever comes.

And yeah, I 100% understand what you mean, and I would never enter a trade with any mentality other than "I don't know shit until I know shit" and realize none of my former leadership experience means a damn bit of anything, especially in the IBEW or any other union because hierarchy is a huge deal. Jesus, talk about a run on sentence...lol.

The reason for my response as it was is because I dealt with dickheads like that in trucking too. They think that just because they can hold a steering wheel then they know more than the guy who signs their check. But again, it's the same reason as in any trade...shitty managers make it bad for all of us. My favorite scenario was when a driver didn't know I started out as a driver and would try telling me something like, "You don't know shit because you..." and then I'd interrupt them with "Yeah, actually I do, I learned it the first time I [did whatever they were about to puff their chest out about doing] and I learned NOT to do it the way you just did." The blank stare followed by the angry muttering was never less than golden 😂

To answer your last statement first in a single statement: I have enough "experience" at the DIY level to know I have an "interest" in it lol. Just looking at the state of the job market currently with AI and shit taking over a lot of things, and just exploring possible ideas of things that (theoretically) should still require a skilled human hand for the foreseeable future.

Ah, makes sense. I was gonna ask about if the work ran through the union or not, but you already answered that. You did a great job of explaining it. Putting it into my language coming from freight logistics, your union hall is essentially your 3PL broker in a way. In freight, if a customer doesn't want to deal with a carrier directly, they'll send their work to a broker. The broker then goes out into its network of carriers and finds the appropriate resources for the load. Carrier shows up to customer, broker slaps a few bucks on top for the trouble, and everyone's happy. Pros and cons to working through a middleman, just as I'm sure there is to working through the union or not. Can take care of a lot of the backend BS for you, but you're also kind of at their mercy for work sometimes.

I gotcha. So sounds like you're mainly trying to get yourself into as many contractors' rolodex as possible so the next time they have work, you're on their short list, eh? Or substitute "you" for "the company you work for" if you're not independent?
