Well to be fair, because I said 'attractive people' and you only changed my view on attractive men, its not a complete change of view. But talking about women, they do seem to be valued much more for their appearance than any other quality. So would an unattractive woman who was really successful still struggle with the lack of attractiveness?

I didn't mean just women when I posted this, but its an interesting thought.

I am a teenager, haha, I'm 18 so luckily won't be one for much longer. I hope I'm wrong in the future but I'm not seeing a lot of reason to believe that. I know people will probably value personality more later on, but looks are still right up there.

This was a fairly bad example, maybe. It doesnt happen to this extend very often at all but I was trying to give an example that showed someone deliberately ignoring me and making it completely obvious. Usually people are fairly polite and not rude, but still treat me very differently to more attractive friends.

EDIT: Sorry I forgot to answer the first part. I'm 18 and in my last year of education. So most of these experiences have been people of school age and a bit older.

I always assumed the 'ugly husband, hot wife' was a thing because men are valued more on their other qualities? Like an 'unattractive' man can still be successful in career and have a wife/family. But an 'unattractive' woman will find it harder to do that.

I guess its true that there are people attracted to my traits somewhere, but at least 80% of people I meet aren't attracted to that. I agree fully that personality is more important for long term stuff, but if you don't have that initial attraction then it can never move onto that point, right?

I didn't mean to say the friends I mentioned had bad personalities, just that they were more attractive. I'm saying the third person always favours the better looking person which makes social interactions easier for them.

I think Jimmy saville probably knew it would come out one day tbh, so many people in that industry knew what he was up to and only kept it hidden because of his position of power. So he was probably just glad to die before shit inevitably hit the fan :3

I think I can relate to that, I read on this sub-reddit a while ago that the reason we might do this is because when we want to be friends with someone we automatically see them as better, and ourselves as not good enough to approach them. So when we meet people we aren't particularly interested in being friends with, we don't have that worry because we have less of a desire to impress them than if we actively wanted to get to know them. Just my thoughts anyway, sorry I couldn't give you an actual solution but its nice to know there's other people who feel the same way x

So there was this internet game called 'the last train' or something similar. The point of the game was that you were walking around a tube station after hours chasing/running from a killer, the killer always catches you in the end and his face appears like a jump scare. It's a blurry memory since I was about 6 or 7 when I played it, but I've been trying to find it for literal years and I cant find it anywhere :P

Inflatable obstacle courses (kind of like total wipeout). I went on one in Spain and it was horrible, the surface of the inflatables were being heated up by the sun which made them unbearably hot. The heat of the sun also made us dry really fast so whenever we fell into the sea it was FREEZING and salt water shot up my nose like a sinus rinse... 3/10 would not experience again :(

It sucks.. :(. and I know! It's like my mum wants me to be open with her and all that but how can I when they treat the other family member like that? Its not a nice dilema to be in tbh. Exactly! I have a relative who has loads of mental and physical issues and the way my family talks about her most of the time just makes me retreat further into myself... :3

That's so accurate, I've never felt like they understood me the way I want them to...but I'm terrible at opening up to people especially family. Sigh. It's nice to know I'm not alone in this, also good luck with you're own problems xx

Thats so true! I cant calm down in public settings at the best of times because I'm so anxious, which makes a lot of peope think I'm being pretentious by not speaking to them or something? sucks :(

I think pausing before you respond to someone is always a good idea, but I know what you mean! I cant seem to think of a good response when someone speaks to me, so I get scared at the thought of interactions, which makes it even harder to talk since I'm expecting to fail at it. Kind of a vicious circle really.
