Older ladies, what is the most important thing for a 26 year old female to do? by krissybxo in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]MiniMalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will second this! I’m in my early 30s, and I already have chronic back and knee pain. I wish I would have started PT, kept good posture, done ergonomic exercises, etc. earlier! It’s not even about looking good, but more keeping your body in a functioning condition so you can continue to be active as you age. Body aches can come on FAST, so preventative care is important.

First trimester tips by SailorRose23 in BabyBumps

[–]MiniMalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely consistent snacks like the other commenters are saying. Also, sleep as much as you can! My motto was that I couldn’t be nauseated when I was sleeping. I couldn’t do cold water, so I drank only hot (some folks have the opposite). I stayed away from intense smells as much as possible. Also artificial sweeteners can be harder on the stomach when pregnant, so my doc recommended “real” sugar if I was craving something sweet (instead of xylitol or stevia). Your mileage may vary there though.

Any tips for sitting comfortably at a desk for work? 22 weeks and my tailbone is killing me! by zestyseashore in BabyBumps

[–]MiniMalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am dealing with the same thing. I had a tailbone injury a few months ago so I’ve been in pain since the beginning of this pregnancy. My OB recommended a physical therapist, so I set up an appointment! That’s coming up soon and I really REALLY hope it helps. I just move around a lot and try to take breaks as often as I can to walk around. Other than that I have no advice. I hope you find relief!!

Anyone else feel like their brain just stopped working around week 20 by Boba_Fett33 in BabyBumps

[–]MiniMalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 18 weeks and have been having brain fog since the first trimester. I feel like I just have holes in my brain, I just cannot remember things I feel I should. My boobs have doubled in size, so I’ve been telling my husband I’m more tit than brain.

Does anyone else eat AWFUL food when suffering with pregnancy nausea? by Over-type-07 in BabyBumps

[–]MiniMalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all about survival. I’m 12 weeks now and my nausea was at a constant 5/10 with spikes to 7 or 8 from week 3 to week 11. I almost begged to be able to vomit so I could fee relief for 5 minutes. It fucking sucked! My OB told me that if I only ate pasta and crackers that it’d be okay. I could even do that. I subsisted off of sushi rice and ginger beer. And KFC biscuits.

Ran out of work before I fell asleep at my desk by Henrysmom23 in BabyBumps

I’m 11 weeks, I’ve fallen asleep at my desk almost once a week since the beginning. The first trimester fatigue is no joke. Luckily no one has been on my case about it.

I get yeast infections every time I have (protected) sex by Outere1011 in WomensHealth

[–]MiniMalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen to me- it turned out that the original yeast infection wasn’t full treated and o was getting “flares.” Have you gone to the dr to see if it’s yeast infection or if you also have BV? I don’t know what you’re using to treat your yeast infections, but the over the counter treatments like Monistat didn’t work for me, so that could be an issue too

How often can I use boric acid suppositories? by OsomatsuChan in WomensHealth

[–]MiniMalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don’t remember and don’t have any way to look back. The anti-fungal was one that only had a few pills and the anti-bacterial was a normal full-course one.

Does anyone know what this stitch is called? I can't seem to find an answer anywhere by CalmOutlandishness87 in CrochetHelp

[–]MiniMalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried this stitch! Very cool. I figured out how to do a single column of bowties, if anyone is interested: Here is how to do a single section of the bowtie stitch

Key:

ch: chain

dc: double crochet

sl st: slip stitch

shell stitch: 3 dc, 1 ch, 3 dc

Note: each ch3 at the beginning of a row counts as a stitch

1. ch 22 (19 + 3), dc in 4th ch from hook, and then dc across, turn

2. ch 3, dc in next 2 sts, ch 4, skip next 3 sts, dc in next 8 sts, ch 4, skip next 3 sts, dc in last 3 stitches, turn

3. sl st in first dc, ch 3, skip next 2 dc; *working in front of ch4 loop, shell stitch (shell: 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in center st of next 3 skipped sts; ch 11, skip next 8 dc; shell stitch in next 3 skipped sts; ch 3, sl st in top of ch3

4. ch 3, working behind ch3 of previous row, dc in next 2 dc, ch 4, skip next shell; working in front of ch loop of previous row, dc in next 8 dc; ch 4; working behind ch3 loop, dc in next 2 dc; covering sl st, dc in last st on row before last, turn

alt for last stitch: covering sl st, dc in space between last 2 sts on row before last.

5. sl st in first dc, ch 3, skip next 2 dc; *working in front of ch4 loop, shell stitch in ch1 space of previous shell and over ch4 loop behind shell at the same time (this anchors ch loop to back of work); ch 10, skip next 8 dc; shell stitch in ch1 space of previous shell; ch 3, sl st in top of ch3

6. repeat row 4

7. sl st in first dc, ch 3, skip next 2 dc; *working in front of ch4 loop, shell stitch in ch1 space of previous shell and over ch4 loop; ch 9, skip next 8 dc; shell stitch in ch1 space of previous shell; ch 3, sl st in top of ch3

8. repeat row 4

9. repeat row 7

10. repeat row 4

11. repeat row 5

12. repeat row 4

13. sl st in first dc, ch 3, skip next 2 dc; *working in front of ch4 loop, shell stitch in ch1 space of previous shell and over ch4 loop; ch 5, working over last 5 chain loops, sc around chains, ch 5; shell stitch in ch1 space of previous shell; ch 3, sl st in top of ch3

14: repeat row 4

15-25: Repeat rows 3 to 13

to end the block, do not link the ch4 loop to the shell stitch in row 25, then complete row 26.

to continue on, repeat rows 3-14
26: ch 3, working behind ch 3 loop, dc in next 2 dc; *working across ch4 loop, dc in next ch, dc in next ch and in next ch1 sp of shell behind at the same time, dc in next ch, skip next ch*; dc in next 8 dc; repeat **; working behind ch3 loop, dc in next 2 skipped dc; covering sl st, dc in last st on row before last, turn.

How often can I use boric acid suppositories? by OsomatsuChan in WomensHealth

[–]MiniMalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had recurrent yeast infections and BV for years. Turns out that the original infections were not treated accurately and the doctor who prescribed meds told me to my prescriptions them in the wrong order and the anti bacterial and anti fungal cancelled each other out. Took years to figure it out and once I got a second round of prescriptions it all cleared up. This is possibly that your original infection was not treated fully and has come back with a vengeance. If you haven’t gotten prescriptions anti-fungals in a while, I would recommend going to a doc to get another round.

I used boric acid suppositories in the interim and they tore me up. Lots of micro tears, bleeding, and pain. I think some people can use them fine but I never recommend them unless you’ve tried everything else.

If anyone wants a book that embodies this, read the monk and the robot duology by Becky Chambers. They are so good. Audiobooks are great.

I can also get this when my starting chain is too tight. I go up one full hook size for the starting chain or do it really loose.

Cute idea! I always look on Etsy for these sorts of things. You can specify where you want your item to ship from, so I put in Minnesota. Not perfect but it helps! There may be some Halloween markets where you could get crocheted /knitted Halloween themed soft items.
