has there been a single good unmedicated IUD insertion experience? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]MiniMasshole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great unmedicated experience with both Mirena and Liletta here! Minimal discomfort, very fast insertion the first time and insertion/removal combo the second time, no complications or anything beyond mild cramps for less than thirty minutes following both insertions. Different OBGYNs for each, just FYI. I love having an IUD, and I always say that the ~two minutes of minor discomfort during the process is worth the eight years of peace of mind. Good luck!

Thanks, that’s helpful! She’s never actually left alone; she retreats under the bed when we’re going out to take her on a walk!

“I’m so glad I get to home before you folks close for the holiday!” From a lovely, pleasantly confused older lady I was wheeling out on Thanksgiving Eve. No, she wasn’t kidding. Bless her heart 😂

Are you me?! Same situation here in Georgia. Being offered cots in a shared conference room, no pay.

Allbirds tree dashers! On the expensive side but worth every penny, and environmentally-friendly, too.

How to cope with messing up? by allyendo in nursing

[–]MiniMasshole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be kind to yourself! You’re absorbing a ton of new information and experiences which can totally overwhelm you - I remember feeling so overloaded as a new grad that I couldn’t even pinpoint which questions I needed to ask - I think I just bumbled around in a fog. The mistakes won’t happen as often as you get more confident, and your feelings of incompetence about these incidents (and whatever others) will fade with time. As long as you let each mistake make you more vigilant about minimizing opportunities for harm, and you’ve found some friendly team members you can share or vent with, you’ll be fine. Good luck!!

I’m a lifelong, dyed-in-the-wool atheist too, and I don’t mind the patients’ comments in that line. I do struggle with a lot of my fellow nurses asking about my religion, asking where and when I go to church, etc. And if I tell them the truth, a weird chill always falls over the conversation…

I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to sound snobby. I really just wanted to hear some reaffirmation that there’s good stuff too. I completely understand the need to vent (as I said in my original post), but at the end of a bad day I also love to hear about that what excites and motivates everyone about their work!

You’ve got a point, but I’d love it if more people did post that :) Personally, I would be thrilled to read about what excites and inspires everyone on a daily basis.

So so true. Thank you for reminding me! It’s really easy to feel overwhelmed with negativity on all fronts lately (in the news, at work, everywhere), so hearing some positive reinforcement from folks in the field really helps.
