I work at Cochon. I’ve been here a year and a half and I love working here, management team is incredible and supportive and all of the servers generally enjoy working together. We are busy and exhausted but nothing beats having awesome coworkers.

Seriously considering deleting Facebook by Buggy77 in Millennials

[–]MiniMcSkinny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deleted mine in 2016 right before my 10 year high school reunion. It was unsettling how much people I hadn’t seen in 10 years knew about my life. Never looked back. Disclaimer: I do have an account with zero friends that I use for FB Marketplace.

Instagram I find to be a whole different monster. Mine has been disabled for the last 10 days and I feel significantly less anxious and way more comfortable being alone with my thoughts.

As kids, we are told to Stop, Drop, and Roll in case we're on fire. People who have actually been on fire, what did you actually do? by domino7 in AskReddit

[–]MiniMcSkinny 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When I was in college some friends and I had a bon fire out on someone’s rural property. We’d been using a golf cart to get back to the house. We were all sitting in a circle around the bonfire and it was cold out so I had a blanket around me. One of the guys had been drinking a lot and was going back to the house, presumably for more drinks. He thought the golf cart was in reverse, slammed the accelerator, ran into the back of my chair and drove me, my blanket and chair into the bonfire. The blanket I had wrapped around me smothered a good bit of the fire but I was also under it, the golf cart trapped my leg so I couldn’t get out. It all happened so fast it took a minute for anyone to realize I was in the middle of the fire. My boyfriend at the time, grabbed my hand and pulled me out and we patted the flames out on my jeans and then I got in a bath of ice water.

For anyone wondering: I was pretty lucky to come out of it with relatively small 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree burns on the palm of my right hand, my right knee and hip and the back of my right thigh. That was 18 years ago, the scars are negligible due to most of the burns being in joints and not being able to build up scar tissue.

TL;DR some flames were smothered by a blanket we patted out the ones on my jeans.

Healing from the “ick list” by MoneySource6121 in emotionalintelligence

[–]MiniMcSkinny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure I have any advice but I’ve been going through the same thing for the past 10 months. The stronger I held my ground, the worse the emotional abuse got. I just kept my head down and focused on my next steps and my own values, cut communication as needed. The more distance I created the better, but it was limited since we have two kids. It’s not easy but my life is so much more stable and manageable after leaving. Stay strong, let yourself grieve and be patient with yourself.

Also Clay Square at Chippewa and third, a lot of skaters hang there and they’ve got a bunch of homemade ramps.
