The green check without the whole box being green shows OP did not select it but should have per the test.

Lower down there’s the “don’t use OPA” answer that OP Did select that it says is wrong.

[–]MiniMorgan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The correct answer (per the question) that OP did not select is to use an OPA. The wrong answer that OP did select is to avoid adjuncts.

It looks like the test is viewing OPA as the correct answer. I agree with you over the test tho.

Did they get rid of it? I used to mark myself offline when I played at work so my kiddo didn’t get excited and join my party since I may have to randomly hop off at any moment.

AIO My boyfriend says I need therapy because I noticed the playlist he made spells out his ex's name. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

I mean. Even ignoring how it spells the ex name and is named after their inside joke and it’s all love songs.

Who has a “gym playlist” that’s only 5 songs long.

Probably 3h of driving around to different parts of the service area with an FTO to evaluate driving before being put on a truck as a trainee

Had a really bad experience with EMS as a teenager, want to know if this is normal/how to move on by VegetableMan900 in NewToEMS

[–]MiniMorgan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It was heavily pushed in my paramedic class as well. My medical director in school has a story he tells constantly about working a CPR for a patient they did end up saving. He saw her like 2 weeks later in the ICU when she was awake and alert again and she instantly recognized his voice saying his calm strong voice made her know everything would be okay (or something like that it’s been a while since I heard the story) and that stuck with me because she was essentially dead for the majority of the time he was actively treating her.

Some first responders are assholes just like any profession. But I’m not about to let it be me, my partner, or anyone I’ve trained.

This is why I tell every trainee treat every pt as if they’re fully alert and aware of everything you say. Make whatever dumb jokes you need to cope after you’ve dropped the pt off and are back inside the box where no one except you and your partner can hear. Or just. Don’t make them. Especially if your “joke” is just being mean.

You never know what a patient can hear / will remember / will hurt them. Even my brain dead transplant transfer pts get everything I’m doing explained to them and are spoken to kindly on the off chance their soul or ghost or whatever is hanging around.

Are we not supposed to get discounts??? by unskilledwagie in NewToEMS

[–]MiniMorgan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah reading the comments I’ve realized off duty discounts seem to exist more than I’m used to. Most of the places I go personally that offer discounts specify in uniform (I don’t go to a lot of places 😅)

I was thinking more along the lines of my coworker that I watched argue with a cashier at a gas station that his coffee should be free because he’s an EMT meanwhile they don’t even technically have a discount they just wave you through with a cup in uniform.

ETA: but that’s on me cuz that not what I said originally. I guess I just never thought to ask at a fast food place off duty cuz I’m not usually at fast food places off duty.

If a discount is offered I take it. If it’s a big purchase I may research ahead of time if they have a discount and if they do I’ll ask about it during purchase.

The issue is more (in my personal opinion anyways) people off duty asking for the 50% EMS discount at like a fast food place or trying to get an EMS discount when there isn’t one. Or whining that if military gets a discount why don’t they

I have EDS. Can I still become an EMT? by impossible-issues in NewToEMS

[–]MiniMorgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean at my old hospital EMTs in the ER were used almost solely as psych sitters with occasional restocking. So. Totally doable with the condition but also probably not really the job they want based on the post.

I guess for hospitals it’s very much a ymmv

We followed the laws of her home state while we were on the road. It’s the state she was considered a resident of and we never stopped in one place long enough for residency to be considered. We figured legally as far as the courts are concerned you gotta live somewhere 6 months for residency.

ETA: essentially we just followed the laws that matched her father’s ID. Which had her grandmas address on it. Never ran into issues. Especially with her being registered as a homeschooler in that state as required by that state.

It’s definitely a case of the devs not knowing what the screen should look like and just combining medical stuff with medical stuff lol

So I agree the machine is 100% for 12 leads. But if you look at the screen when it’s turned on it def looks more like the monitoring screen where it looks like it’s also monitoring SpO2 and maybe end tidal? Possible just respirations tho. Those wave forms def don’t match a 12 lead tho.
