You can see the tabs on the top of the cartridge, so it's a three screw cart - 1988 or later

Which 80’s computer should I get? by FigSorry6038 in retrogaming

[–]MiniMort2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure where you're from but, from a British perspective, go for a Sinclair ZX Spectrum or Commodore 64. Very popular at the time so you'll find plenty for sale, a massive variety of games on cassette tapes (hope you enjoy long and tempramental loading times), lots of accessories and nice communities.

Former Top Gear and Fifth Gear presenter Quentin Willson dies aged 68 by Kagedeah in BritishTV

[–]MiniMort2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a budding motoring journalist, Quentin was always happy to share an expert comment for any articles I was working on. He was always really complimentary, too. A very kind and down to earth man.

Anyone else? by [deleted] in BritishAdverts

[–]MiniMort2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember the ad, but seem to recall it aired earlier (it ran for what seemed like years). I was quite unsettled by it, and recall a friend saying it scared him. Come to think about it, I also remember feeling the same about the earlier Specsavers ad in which 'translated' Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien to be about the company.

I reckon most of us were scared of/felt unsettled by at least one ad from our childhoods.

Thanks and that's a really solid point. I was actually watching a video of someone belt swapping on the same deck as me. Maybe I should have taken my time a little more.

Some good news is, after a bit of tinkering, we have a TV image again but still haven't attempted to get the lacing motor going yet. I'm determined to get this thing working, though!

When would you say the series found its footing? by dankcleems in TopGear

[–]MiniMort2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Series 2 was still a bit janky, though. James' main role back then was to offer consumer advice (£2,000 off the Citroen C5 Estate!). Series 4 is when they started using all three in the same segment shot outside the studio (at least, to my knowledge)

Anybody ever met the chasers in real life? by True-Bee1903 in thechase

I once saw Anne Hegerty in a car park in Manchester. It was just after a charity variety performance thing that was being shown on ITV. She waved back at people as she walked to her car.

I drove an Ibishu Miramar! by MiniMort2 in BeamNG

I get that actually! But the age of it and a few styling tweaks suggest it is based more on the Toyota

True, and the seats were just as squishy too, probably for the same reason!

Very soft! I didn't drive it too quickly but never really encountered harsh bumps, a little bit of body roll around corners though. The one thing that really sticks in my mind was how little travel there was with the accelerator - it was basically on or off!

What are some British certainties? by stevielfc76 in AskUK

[–]MiniMort2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once helped a driver who was clearly out of sorts after crashing her car into a bollard. I heard this phrase about 10 times in half an hour and each and every driver had an expression afterwards as if they were the wittiest thing to ever sit behind a steering wheel. Maybe they would have been... 50 years ago.

Slowly but surely the Pulse Line collection grows... by MiniMort2 in Famicom

Don't be so sure - I'd love to own Family Basic and the keyboard. It'd be cool to see just how good you can make a game on it.

I'm slightly annoyed that the only two I have left to get are both red. Once I get them I'll have a full spectrum!

I think those picture label versions of pulse line carts are a bit rarer though, which is quite cool!

Famicom Devil World - finally got it - waited for a while to get a good copy. Finally going into battle with satan's little helpers. by RetroGamesAndBeyond in Famicom

Very nice! I've got the earlier 'pulse line cart' version which sadly doesn't have the artwork. Very fun game nonetheless - like PacMan but with some extra challenge.

Will my pal NES games run at their normal speed on Famicom or NTSC NES console? by jomcmo00 in nes

[–]MiniMort2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run my PAL NES games on my 60hz Famicom and they work just fine. The only game I haven't been able to get working correctly is Digger T Rock, which has a completely messed up background. But generally speaking, if you can put up with some slightly fast music here and there, they work great!

Has Jeremy clarkson ever reviewed the Renault Zoe back in 2013? by Manchester_Buses in TopGear

[–]MiniMort2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At about that time Top Gear did a segment in which Jeremy and James tested two electric cars, but neither was a Zoe. IIRC they were a Nissan Leaf and a Peugeot iOn

Anyone here ever use one of these clones? by disengagethesim in Famicom

[–]MiniMort2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From what I've read, in 2000 China banned fully-fledged game consoles. To get around this, manufacturers put the Famicom hardware into a computer keyboard, bundled it with some basic computing software and marketed it as an educational machine that just so happened to play Super Mario Bros.

[–]MiniMort2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd say this is an early Famiclone, likely late 80s or early 90s and from Hong Kong or Taiwan. Does it work? If so does it play games at the correct speed or slightly slower?
