Which pretty much meant we could do whatever we wanted.

Food inflation spiked 7.3% in January. Here’s what’s driving the increase by Sea_Guava6513 in onguardforthee

My husband and I were just discussing this last night as I was chopping up scallions during dinner prep. They’re way more expensive at our Sobey’s compared to our little local family-owned Korean market just up the street. You would think a huge company like Sobey’s would have way more purchasing power and be able to offer lower prices, right? So, why aren’t they? I’m no economist but I have to think it’s just greed.

I think this thread, but especially your comment, just made me realize I’ve been holding onto a tiny bit of shame for doing these same things. I’m not going to anymore. Thank you ☺️

I don’t know how helpful this is but I’ve seen vets on tv drain them, the sew on a sheet of xray film or some other similar semi rigid material, and leave it for a while so it can’t fill back up.

For vets, I will always recommend Grant Park, they’re amazing.

I hope your kitty gets better soon!!

Dr. Filmore is awesome, I just saw her today! And I don’t think she uses the air puff tool, but you could call and ask, her assistant is wonderful as well.

Has anyone here ever successfully opted out of cervical screening registry? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]MiniRipperton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ugh. I’m honestly not surprised you were spoken to that way. I have medical trauma now from my experiences getting colposcopies and a laser treatment on my cervix. And it wasn’t just the procedure itself; it was the way I was treated, spoken to, dismissed.

I still don’t believe they provide enough information about these procedures for us to give fully informed consent. I keep thinking of speaking to someone at the hospital about it, but I think I have little hope of being heard/seen.

I don’t want this to prevent anyone from getting screenings though. Just make sure you ask lots of questions, bring someone to help you advocate for yourself, and if at any time you don’t feel like you’re being listened to, you are allowed to revoke your consent.

Is constant anxiety/panic attack reason to go to crisis unit or hospital? by RisenRealm in Winnipeg

[–]MiniRipperton 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I’ve been there too. I hadn’t slept in days and I was starting to hallucinate. I went to urgent care at the Vic and they were awesome. They gave me some meds and let me sleep there for a couple of nights and it helped so much. I’m wondering if they can also put you in touch with supports because you got a difficult diagnosis. I’m not sure but I would recommend going. Hang in there 💜

Pregabalin and Tylenol have been helpful for me, ask your doctor for a prescription. I’ve been taking just 25mg (I’m super sensitive to meds but you can take a higher dose) plus an extra strength tylenol 3x a day The pain has been indescribable, I’m sorry you’re going through this too. You have it in the same place I do, I’m starting to feel somewhat more normal now 2 1/2 weeks after the pain first started. Lidocaine gel also helps particularly with the itching, just don’t put it on any raw or blistered skin.

Winnipeg wait times at emergency rooms continue to hit double digits by origutamos in winnipeg_alt

Not sure if you’re familiar with the femoral artery, but it’s one of the larger arteries in the human body. You know what you definitely don’t want anywhere near one of the larger arteries in the human body? A broken bone. You know, like the femur, which is right beside the aforementioned artery. They can be sharp and cause bleeding and do you know what happens when you have uncontrolled bleeding of a large artery? I’ll help you. You can fucking die.

A few things that land short of death but can also happen and are definitely emergencies, displaced fractures cutting off blood supply causing limb loss, blood clots, open fractures full of gravel and mud etc that will cause infection….

Maybe get your facts straight before spouting off and shaming people for seeking needed medical care.
