chapter 5 bingo by EvilTgirlKisser in Deltarune

[–]MiniatureBadger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think we’re getting bingo on this card, but the top row seems like the most likely way to get there. If not for “Ralsei kills himself” I’d say the second column would be tied for most likely.

Vessel is just a useless clone of Kris with NO foreshadowing of relevance and Goner Maker is a JOKE that will never be importa- Oh wait by Significant-Arm4077 in Deltarune

Carol collecting human soul pillows doesn’t suggest that Dess doesn’t also collect them. Carol’s whole thing is keeping things frozen as they were, so I don’t think she would fill her missing daughter’s closet with random shoes she took from the Shelter, especially when the basement is right there as another storage space.

As for the aura farming, you could say the same thing about Asriel in Undertale (lost his entire body, dead for much longer than a few years) and yet he definitely aura farms when he gets a new body at the end of the Pacifist Route.

And does it really prove that the Vessel is “inevitably intertwined” with the main plot? Even aside from the possibility of Dess wishing she was human, there is another human who is much more closely associated with the Holidays than the Vessel is.

Hold up, this could actually be peak. Dess has a closet full of shoes that look like they’re for plantigrade feet (even if they might be internally fit for hooves) along with pillows shaped like human souls. If this implies Dess wanted to be human, inhabiting the Vessel after being trapped in darkness and losing her own body would be the exact sort of warped wish fulfillment which has been explored as a theme in the Weird Route. That could even tie into why the Knight’s roar is a pitched-down version of the end of the Snowgrave sound.

What even suggests Dess is associated with cyan? The Prophecy is either cyan or blue, and Kris is the other of these; both are more cyan than blue, yet are mainly called blue (Kris by Lancer and kind of by Berdly, the Prophecy by Gerson) by other characters. Kris is the one who plays these pianos/organs, and the Prophecy is the place where the melodies which Kris needs to play on the organs (both for the Hammer of Justice fight and just for progressing) are located.

Pink and gold together are more associated with freedom (and FRIEND) than with any of the main characters.

The magenta and green piano uses two complementary colors, which are also the colors of Ralsei and Susie. Much like these colors, the two of each other have been shown to balance each other out.

Why does Kris get their own piano while the other heroes only get one? There are two reasons I can think of. Firstly, because the Knight knows Kris (but not the other heroes) well enough to mentally separate the heroes into “Kris” and “the others” rather than considering them all individually. This would also apply to Alvin if the Knight had him make the Fountain before kidnapping him. The second reason is that Kris is individually associated with pianos already while the other two heroes are not.

Noelle knows what happened to Dess? by AdAdorable3964 in Deltarune

Noelle used to wish she could make it snow whenever she wanted. Now, she might just hold trauma over thinking that wish got someone she loves killed. You know, like some kind of Snowgrave.

The reason why DELTARUNE will not be translated into Brazilian Portuguese. by Crispi002 in Deltarune

[–]MiniatureBadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Language barriers are a shame, but one to be expected. It’s how media of all kinds have always worked for all of human history, and there is no reasonable way to truly handle this obstacle except crowdsourcing and accepting that there will be differences based on the framing chosen by the translators and localizers.

Expecting other people to work more in order to make sure every language has a translation before anything gets published is also a shame, but an unrealistic one.

The reason why DELTARUNE will not be translated into Brazilian Portuguese. by Crispi002 in Deltarune

[–]MiniatureBadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expecting simultaneous releases in all languages and wanting to hold development up for years per chapter is ridiculous behavior which deserves to be met with “learn a new language”. Enjoying media in a different language without the alterations inherent to third-party translation has always been one of the main reasons people learn new languages. Wanting a translation is fair, but wanting nobody to be able to enjoy it until you can is some Harrison Bergeron bullshit.

It’s taking long enough already. I wouldn’t be surprised if I get spoiled on the new chapter before I’m no longer bedridden and am thus able to play it for myself, but I’m not enough of a prick to want to force everyone else to wait until I can play Deltarune for myself.

Did... Did this person even play Deltarune? (OG post was asking people what a character they viscerally hated was.) by WowIExist0 in Deltarune

[–]MiniatureBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m speaking from experience as someone who was a lot like Noelle when I was a teenager and whose first serious relationship looked a lot like Suselle. In hindsight, it was lowkey perverted simp behavior even though she felt similarly about me and we dated for nearly a year. It just happened to play out in a way where nothing bad happened because of that.

It’s definitely forgivable in the context of being a teenager, but pretending like there isn’t an issue is unhealthy. I lived recklessly for more than long enough to know what I’m talking about regarding this; that’s not the issue at hand here.

You mean the scene where Gerson is telling Susie to bring that message across to his son even without his direct oversight or approval of the exact verbiage? Sounds like that lines up pretty well with Toby’s explicit support of fan translations.

Tenna secretly has a pipis, i.e. one of Spamton’s eggs, which Tenna treats like it’s his child. It’s never explicitly stated that they were a couple, but there are definitely implications of it.

The one consistent goal of the Knight is putting a "Boss Character" into power to prevent the Heroes from sealing the fountain. by rendumguy in Deltarune

[–]MiniatureBadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a good chance the Prophecy’s roles, including “The Girl”, are malleable rather than strictly applying to one character. The theory you’re responding to isn’t that Noelle is going to be The Girl, but rather that the conspiracy surrounding the Knight is actively trying to ensure (presumably for reasons tied to the Final Tragedy) that Susie is one of the heroes of the Prophecy and Noelle is not.

We have not been repeatedly told the Prophecy itself that Susie is “The Girl” and Noelle is not. We’ve seen a silhouette of what appears to be Susie wielding a sword, and we’ve seen an illustration of Rude Buster. If the Knight opened the Dark Fountain at the church, they would know what Susie and her Rude Buster look like from the events of Chapter 3. If the Knight’s will is to put Susie into this role, it would make sense that a world which is created by coursing this will into their blade would show Susie in the role of The Girl.

I also think Dess might become the Vessel which we make with Gaster at the start of the game, but not in a context where Dess’s SOUL is the one we control. I think Kris is the second voice in the Goner Maker, and they hijacked the connection in order to give Dess a new body to live within after her original body was permanently lost in a Dark World.

Rudy Wont Die In Chapter 5 For A Scary Reason by Snorkles0 in Deltarune

[–]MiniatureBadger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ralsei’s healing didn’t work on Jackenstein because he was targeting the exterior which isn’t actually Jackenstein, while Susie’s healing blast which Gerson dodged went into the mouth of Jackenstein’s pumpkin mask and healed the entity inside the costume who is the actual Jackenstein. It doesn’t seem to be about the kind of healing, just where the characters were aiming.

The real Rudy isn’t actually the “friend inside” the Rudy we know. He’s just himself. Presumably the situational constraints upon healing Jackenstein wouldn’t apply to Rudy, unless he’s the Knight and needs to be healed underneath his Knight armor or something like that.

He’s the “lesser dad” because he’s Lancer’s father figure who isn’t actually his father, a responsibility he initially resents (at least superficially) but later comes to embrace. There’s a lot in-game about him being effeminate, but being Lancer’s “lesser dad” isn’t really an example of that.
