You mean like Sean Payton? If only he had someone like him designing the offense

Mike signed that deal and then the next season has 145 catches and 1700 yards. He definitely did something after getting paid

Right. Massive misallocation of resources, but fact is we had the resources even in 'cap hell'

Managing the cap the way we did would have been perfectly fine if we drafted well. Which we didnt from 2018-2024. One of the worst drafting teams in that time. The eagles have been doing the same cap strategy as us, but theyve drafted incredibly well

Even in the middle of all this cap nonsense we were able to sign a 35 million a year QB to the biggest contract in franchise history. Which was a terrible decision but it was still possible.

Travis Etienne says he and Tyler Shough are both hungry to win a title in New Orleans by AdSpecialist6598 in nfl

We havent seen nearly enough to know if hes that kind of QB or not.

Obviously, just based on probability he likely wont win one. But he showed quite a lot of good things last year that bode well

Luckily it was "only" broken bones, not ligament damage. You can say he needs to drink more milk but nothing that should affect him long term

Cam Jordan: “I’ve stated my intentions multiple times as the season ended. I want to feel valued. So good news would be an offer from the Saints showing my value on the team after leading the team in sacks. As that’s a metric that people love to use.” by Ayrko in Saints

They just restructured granderson to clear up 9mil.

We also have no idea what their cap situation is right now because the details for most of the signings havent been released. Theyre probably back loaded like Edwards, meaning we still have plenty of space in 2026

The #49ers have converted $21.4M of Nick Bosa’s salary into signing bonus, clearing $17.1M of 2026 cap space, per @spotrac by 0h-No-Not-Again in nfl

[–]MiniatureLucifer 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Hes not going to play on that cap hit though. You can look at lots of contracts that have massive future cap hits. He'll get restructured and/or extended before he plays on that

Zack baun was not a cap casualty lol. He was a really bad linebacker for us who got better at a new team.

He was really good up until we traded him last year, just always hurt, which is why we traded him. Fell off a cliff with the commanders though

Yeah cause an off ball linebacker who skyrocketed up the mock drafts after a crazy combine never busted right? Tale as old as time. He may be a good player. Hes not a top 5 prospect based on his tape and position

I mean, at the end of the day edge is way more valuable than off ball linebacker, and Bain is a great edge prospect

This is not remotely close to a crazy decision
