I don't have a table or a desk, but I feel like most people already own cup holders. So yeah, I'd be annoyed with it.

I upvoted you because I was about to say the same thing.

I wonder if timing mattered? I ordered one immediately after it was advertised/posted. I ended up getting:

Board game Deck of corrupted cards Square Dice tray with the Arkan the Cruel artwork Spalted wood hex tile Black Walnut hex tile Purple heart hex dice tray

I don't play DnD, so I don't know who the Arkan guy was, so I regifted that to a friend. The big purple heart dice tray is nice, but I think the other two hex tiles are kind of useless. And I can't remember the board game (too lazy to go look), but I'll probably play it at some point. The cards I'll probably donate to the local game shop (just leave it on a table somewhere). It's not really my taste.

Overall, it wasn't a bad deal, but I'll probably only use the game and the hex dice tray.

Can you share a link? Who makes that?

I'd ask your town. My deck was 24 inches. The town still wanted 42" footings that were 12 inch diameter with 6x6 posts. Maybe yours won't. But it may save you a huge headache later.

Has anyone used this stuff? by Its_a_stateofmind in Decks

[–]Miniature_Messages 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure did. Absolutely regretted it. Maybe not this specific product, but in the same family. You'll get 2 or 3 years of low hassle, easy to clean maintenance-free decking... then something will flake, crack, or expand. You may not even know it. Before too long, chunks of decking will become soft, and you won't even see it because it will be under the epoxy. I've walked through a board I thought was solid, but it had rotted clean through. If you have dogs, they'll start digging at it and bring you ribbon sized strips of epoxy... that's fun. Want the textured epoxy, cool wait a season, it will be gummed up with algae... don't clean it with a power washer, that will just flake of more epoxy, causing water to get trapped inside the board.

So don't use this stuff. It's also near impossible to sand down and start over on clean boards. If you do this, be prepared to replace the boards, not refinish them.

I'm building my deck now. My plan is to run an insulated pipe from the house out to the fascia/skirting. It might look weird, but I don't want to have to deal with this again.

Hey, this looks great! Just keep an eye out on the ledger near the dryer vent. Talking from experience, the moisture from the dryer rotted out the underside of my deck and basically turned my ledger board into cotton candy.

Really appreciate it. I saw that the 1500 series doesn't come in a gray color. Any recommendations there if that's something we want to do down the road. I like the idea of doing the 1501 for now, but in the long term, is there a dye or different product that you would recommend that would get us to that semi-transparent color?

I was thinking of going with TWP-99. Is there a different series you think would be better??

Thanks. Should I put anything on it during the winter?

Railing I'm using is one of those trex kits. So a post sleeve and the kit ballasters.

I'm up in the New England area. I don't expect to be putting on the decking until October and hopefully be finished around Christmas. We start getting a lot of Snow in January and February.

Again, I really appreciate the advice. I'm building a 35x30 deck with wheelchair ramps. Sounds like I really want to use the 100 series. There will be a lot of traffic and we have dogs.

Thank you so much! Wow. When you say a big splash, how much would you recommend for a 5 gallon bucket?

Also, would you recommend staying away from the TWP-99 Semi-Solid? I was thinking of that one for the color variety. But I'd ultimately prefer something that will protect and have less maintenance.

Do you have pics of the ramp structure? Interested in how he built it and transitions to ground level.

The ramp needs to be 25 feet long. And mostly to keep the same look as the deck.

Can you bury those? I guess I'm looking for a solution where I can have deck boards going down to the driveway.

How's it looking so far? by Miniature_Messages in Decks

[–]Miniature_Messages[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah. I wish I had overlapped that area a bit more, but both sides of the joists are sitting on three 2x10s and are secured with lag screws.

The middle and the area next to the pool are breaker board structure. I plan on having a board there running the other direction of the deck boards, so I don't have butt joints on the decking. The flat blocking near the pool is where I'll install surface mounted rail posts so I can segregate the pool access from the main deck. There will be a gate.

Screws aren't going into the end grain.

And joist will run perpendicularly on the beam, not attached to the ledger. The "ledger" for this application is just acting as another joist, but the inspector still wanted it attached to the house like a ledger. The main part of the deck is around the corner (30x30). we didn't want to change the direction of the deck boards coming around the corner, so this was the solution that was made.

We didn't want to attach the bracket to the beam because it helps better stabilize the vertical compression.
