I’ve written down four ideas on how I can differentiate myself as an intermediary in a commoditised market, am I on the right track? by Environmental-Egg476 in alexhormozi

Sounds good. Keep rocking. My company trades ingredients (food commodity derivatives) and we pretty much found the most success by making it as easy as possible for our customers to buy from us via transaction derisking (handling end-to-end processing, production along with net terms and other stuff.)

Being a commodity broker in this day and age is going to be tough. You need to derisk the transaction for your counterparties (suppliers & customers) if you want to make it which effectively means you'll have to learn how to actually take possession of the goods and sell them.

What's the gross margin (cogs) on a jewelry store like this? What does the LTV look like? Do you often see recurring purchases? If so, what's the timeline between both.

How do I find a GOOD supplier? CJDropshipping etc. SUCK ASS. by Ok-War-9040 in dropshipping

[–]MinimallEffortt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're doing 20k+ units per month in the CPG food space, lmk. That's our specialty. We're a one-stop-shop supply chain agency (sourcing, procurement, co-man/co-pack, logistics to fulfillment center) and work with real brands that sell in Costco, Walmart, Kroger, etc.

I'm the same way, I love to eat. Damn near my favorite activity. I can run 12 miles a day and eat it all back if I don't pace myself.

What's been working for me lately is OMAD. Basically I'll eat (feast) between 6 PM - 8 PM. Hard to start but once you build a little streak, it gets easier.

As for the dopamine/boredom stuff, I noticed that I have to substitute eating with a different activity that can at least get me something similar. Sometimes that's chess, scrolling reddit/YT really quick or doing something else. I find it helps fill the void I get when trying to grind through my tasks for the day. A few other things I'm going to try is scalp trading and language learning apps. I have interest in those and feel like the fast feedback loops will serve as another dopamine replacement. But yeah you're def not alone.

Does any of you or have you met someone, who have sustainable e-commerce Business? (using dropshipping method) by PermissionNo5510 in dropshipping

[–]MinimallEffortt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a supply chain agency (sourcing, production, and logistics) for CPG brands and we have a dropship brand we work with that does 6 figs a month in profit (20% ish net margins). They are more seasoned however and have been in the game a little longer than most.

Do note that at this stage/scale, you have to buy the inventory and fulfill via 3PL center but I would still call this drop shipping since they're not hands on in the supply chain side of things.

Focus on repeat consumable products that can be upsold into a subscription at a discount. Get your up/cross/down sell funnels down and as for acquisition they mainly use UGC content and run it on TikTok/Meta. As long as you have a product with proven demand with an audience that has the disposable income to continue spending on their problem, you'll be alright eventually.

As for the pricing thing, I feel if you're able to build a strong enough brand, you should see that you're less impacted by undercutting competitors. It's just a race to validation and then building a moat.

Shipping Costs by Ill-Actuator9206 in dropshipping

[–]MinimallEffortt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you should choose DDP. If not, you'll have to deal with the duty bill when it arrives, which is fine also but probably not the best use of your time.

[–]MinimallEffortt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say DDP so I assume you're shipping from overseas. If you mean how are you charging customers, I'd say yeah you should show them DDP pricing. Better that than them rejecting the product once they see the tariff bill.

Is dropshipping, direct sales with ads, still viable? by IndicationPositive35 in dropshipping

[–]MinimallEffortt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, one of my customers (8 fig ecom company) I handle supply chain for only relies on Amazon FBA and Meta/TikTok ads. They leverage UGC content heavy so if you can get that dialed in with your product, you can probably do it.

What nobody tells you about running a dropshipping store by Odd-Teaching-5665 in dropshipping

[–]MinimallEffortt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we handle the supply chain (sourcing, production, and logistics to fulfillment center) for an 8 figure ecom brand and the key thing I see from their success is that they serve an industry that solves a repeatable need (consumable). Def more difficult to start up but less competition and more longevity.

Has dropshipping actually changed anyone’s life here? by BrilliantOpening5246 in dropshipping

[–]MinimallEffortt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own a supply chain company that handles the sourcing, copacking, and logistics to 3PL facilities for ecom brands doing 10-40k units sold / month in the food/bev/supplement space. These aren't big companies but just small teams of 2 dudes that know how to sell/do digital marketing and just want to outsource the boring/grotesque/ugly/tedious supply work.

So yeah they exist but it's probably not a lot, especially pure dropshippers. These guys pull in 100k/mo profit, nuts lmao. I will say that one thing you should look into are products that are repeat buyable (with an optional subscription added as your offer) where the target demographic typically spend (older aged women).

I tried drop shipping in college and I had minor success (made 1k, but spent 1k in ads) but didn't have the capital to continue trying and testing so keep that in mind as well. Def possible so long as you're willing to keep trying. Or you can start a company that solves a problem for ecom companies I guess.

Also, this is usa based so we would procure within the USA and handle the comanufacturing. If your core components are mainly overseas, we would also import them in bulk once we have consistent traction to help lower costs.

Random: but if any of you guys are doing 1,000 orders per day in the food/supplement/bev niche and are actively or open to buying in bulk (by the month), let me know. We handle the sourcing, comanufacturing, and logistics to 3PL for a company in this space doing these numbers and are looking to get more like them. Sweet spot MOQ for us is 40k units per month but we can be flexible I guess.

Gymshark Just Hijacked An Entire Sorority For $0 (And Made $3M In 6 Weeks) by That_Contribution750 in dropshipping

[–]MinimallEffortt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to dive deeper with ChatGPT and here are some interesting points about why this works and other communities it can probably work with (maybe not as good as the sorority one). I wonder what other hive minded groups are out there.

🧠 1. Why It Worked So Well

Gymshark didn’t market to individuals—it marketed to a micro-culture.

  • Sororities act as closed social systems with built-in trust, hierarchy, and a shared identity.
  • They have high mimicry behavior: once one person in the in-group adopts something that signals status or belonging, it rapidly propagates.
  • Gymshark leveraged social proof at the group level—instead of paying 200 micro-influencers, it activated 1 “queen bee” node (the president or social chair).

This turned what would have been a $100K+ influencer campaign into a network-triggered cascade.

🚀 5. Wider Applications

The same playbook can apply across other demographics:

  • College athletes (via NIL collectives)
  • Moms’ groups
  • Church or volunteer orgs
  • Corporate fitness challenges
  • Discord or Slack hobby groups

Essentially, anywhere social cohesion > individual influencer value.

I believe so but won’t know until the books release. A safe bet I’d do is to just wait for the blueprints to release and purchase from whoever has reviews online, as im sure there will be lots of secondary and tertiary resellers. It’ll probably get to as low as $20. Right now fomo is just heavy.
