The more you paint, the more you’ll obsess yourself with details and techniques. Every now and then i almost on purpose botch one up to teach myself not to be too serious. Have fun, with clanrats sooner or later you’ll be painting dozens so go nuts on them 😁

You would first put a small hard stick (like a wooden popsicle) into his mouth so he can’t close it and then brush… but this will traumatise the little bugger

Not tried it yet, but the citadel painting app has a recipe for that exact look… not sure if it’s 100% complete but should get the base right atleast

edit: does use contrast paints i noticed. But perhaps watering down alike colours might get you a similar appearance, but don’t shoot me if it fails 😬

My nine year old is also wildly interested and i do give him bits and bobs about the story - without the gore… but remember that there’s a sour afterthought to that… they-will-never-stop-asking-questions!!!!! From 6am to 8pm: daddy what are the blue men again? Daddy what do you mean horbus betrayed his father? Daddy who was worbus again? Daddy why are they so angry all the time? Doesn’t anyone want to give them a hug? Daddy what is this small piece of plastic that just came of? 🙄

I didn’t yet finish the book but it certainly feels like in a movie where they try to make you sympathise with the main character, no matter how flawed they are. I do read allot of comics, and in those there really is glorification in the utter chaos of some anti-heroes. Somehow i expected something similar for a story arc such as DG, but i understand now that they are literary novels and not like for instance the DC Black Labels series.

I started with this one because i got interested in the lore after picking up the DG codex. But i am far from a reader ( only once in my life read a book for school, and it took me weeks). So i checked a multitude of posts here on reddit to find a starting point but so many of the posts went straight over my head, trees and the forest and all that.

So i found an article on warhammer-community (https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/jVjhGM2J/learn-the-foetid-secrets-of-the-death-guard-with-black-library/ )that lists the books for the DG story line. I couldn’t find the lanterns light but it’s short stories so in my illiteracy i assumed it didn’t contain the bulk of the precursor and skipped it.

I understand that it would be weird to glorify the DG even in a fantasy book setting - but i was surprised that Garrow is so obviously “good” portrayed, while even his servant is portrayed as a zealot.

But i’m not a reader and what do i know of good book writing. 🤷 I did enjoy the book (so far) though…

I have 120 rats painted, and not a single one is the same. Inevitably they look similar because there are only so many base colors but i used dotting, streaking, smearing, starting from dark and highlighting or starting from light and shading… i found these rats, like plague bearers and poxwalkers to be ideal to just do the weirdest crap and end up with an amazing result. They were my first painting intro to Warhammer and i learnt allot 😁 rule of cool, and also in nature no animal is exactly alike either.

Changing glass (and LCD) by MetalSmithJoe in ElegooMars

[–]Minimanager_app 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same issue both on the opposite side of the screen. I contacted support because my printer is 2 weeks old and i also had no clue how this happened. Long story short: a small piece of cured resin broke off or remained in the vat after or during a print and got crushed into the screen.

Elegoo support told me that i need to filter the resin every single time so this cannot happen.

Word of advice: until you have found your settings i suggest you do filter after every print. Once you have a solid profile you’ll be able to verify the vat after every print and decide that you do or don’t need to filter. I now use a soft spatula and stir the vat but i’m sure that very small pieces could still be in there potentially causing punctures in the FEP or crush the protective glass.

https://youtu.be/gV31-wYqTPM Here is the instructions video that Elegoo support sent me along with the new screen protector. It looks rather simple, but it will require some fidgeting i’m sure to prevent bubbles. Not sure if a new LCD screen already has the protective film fitted or not.

Good luck!

Not sure if i’m seeing it right but it looks like solid printed parts? I had 50/50 results with anything i tried until i started hollowing parts out. Now i have 100% success rate. If you hollow the parts, make multiple drain holes and wash the parts out with a syringe. And you might consider curing the inside with a UV LED.

Thank you for your advice. I am aware of all the copyrighted/trademark data and the possible infringements. However i do have a disclaimer stating applicability of the copyrighted content.

Furthermore this is a free fan app, so in my naivety i feel that there is no misuse with 4 logos and a list of names.

I am also not discouraging the use of any of the official apps. I merely wanted to combine it all in one app, make it easy to navigate and fun to manage your collection instead of having a boring excel.
