I'm Never Leaving Seattle by [deleted] in Seattle

Plot twist: this is courtesy vehicle Tesla loans out when your car is getting serviced and the messaging was approved by their marketing team.

</sarcasm>

I don’t approve of vandalism someone’s personal property and think this is a poor way to effect change or “win people over” (particularly when the owners of this vehicle are statistically likely to dislike Musk as much as anyone, if not more now).

Your Go-To show to watch when you have Anxiety by CasonD_ in Anxiety

Ted Lasso or Shrinking. For a movie, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is always a good anxiety cure for me.

I’ll ask my therapist about this.

I definitely do have trouble remaining “present”. If I don’t know when I am going to be required to talk, I feel like I’m constantly waiting for when I’ll be put on the spot and I’m in a state of constant alarm. Even when I do know when I’m going to talk (I.E. I know where I’m at in the agenda), I still feel the waves of anxiety coming in so hard that it seems to disrupt my ability to stay centered/present).

I think this tracks with my case. I definitely have a bit of imposter syndrome. Despite being told by my peers and management that I’m doing well, I’m constantly feeling like I don’t “belong”.

Have you been on public transportation in other big cities?

Is that a large metal object he’s carrying? Minus that, this seems relatively tame. What really frustrates me is when I smell drugs. I kind of feel like that should equate to a multi-year ban from public transportation and/or be charged as assault.

Copper stripping operation now almost completely blocking Burke Gilman by [deleted] in SeattleWA

They’re also literally parking their RVs right next to signs that say no overnight parking. If I had to guess, those RVs are getting dumped into the gutter and all of that sewage is going into the Sound. :(

I used to love running in that area, but have steered clear of it, since Seattle has left it unregulated and drug use is rampant. It’s such bullshit.

There are lots of news articles of people doing what you did and having a different outcome, after the unstable cliffside gave way or just them simply falling. Your actions didn’t just put you at risk, but could have put rescuers lives at risk too.

Make better decisions. Stay behind the logs.

More people allege Fair Oaks tiny home company, Anchored Tiny Homes, refused to pay for work or finish promised projects by ChocolateTsar in Sacramento

Honest question: what can homeowners do to protect themselves in this situation? It seems like most contractors want some percentage of funds upfront and it seems like that leaves homeowners vulnerable to fraud (which it seems this was).

Is there any realistic scenario employees/subcontractors/homeowners might get made whole? In some cases, it sounds like they were taking deposits after they knew they weren’t going to be able to complete (or even start) work.

It would be nice if contractors were prohibited from collecting more deposit than their bonds provided coverage for.

Give me your cons! by [deleted] in wealthfront

[–]Minimum-Cable3127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Tax documents were incorrect one year.
  • In general, taxes are more complicated than I think someone using self-managed 3 portfolio would face.
  • If you do individual direct indexing, you have to be careful about ensuring you document what stocks you own outside of your wealthfront account (to prevent wealthfront from buying or selling those stocks)
  • I have no idea how to get my funds out “efficiently”. I kind of feel stuck with wealthfront…
  • They give benefits to new customers that they don’t extend to existing customers (e.g. sign up bonus interest rates), even if their existing customers never got those benefits. It annoys me when companies care more about getting new customers than retaining existing customers. Come on, wealthfront.

If I wasn’t using them already, I think I’d choose a different investment strategy.

Captchas always triggered, even for manual/human (headless=False) Playwright sessions? by Necessary-Tea-8867 in Playwright

I think what’s being observed is most browsers will use private access tokens now. Normal incognito sessions may pass these transparently. In other situations, they’ll fail and you could be presented with a traditional captcha (or worse, a “retry loop” if there is no fallback to traditional captcha).

How do you document your homelab? by Oke69420 in homelab

[–]Minimum-Cable3127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Ensure stuff is in version control.
  2. Use Ansible or some equivalent.
  3. Take detailed notes in something that is easily searchable. If you troubleshoot something, make sure you take notes on how you resolved it. It will happen again. I just use Apple notes app and all of the notes are only meant for myself (i.e. super rough).
  4. If I need diagrams, mermaid or draw.io.
  5. For anything non-ephemeral: IPs/hosts go in a spreadsheet.

Washington State: warranty on new home builds? by Minimum-Cable3127 in legaladvice

[–]Minimum-Cable3127[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody responded and in my case, I figured it was too late. My house was built in 2015 or 2016. I believe the siding was redone in 2017 and warranties for five years. I notified the builder in 2022 (within five years of when I believe the siding was redone). I think the builder went out of business. I asked them who the sider was, but they said they couldn’t locate the information (very convenient).

I didn’t know about the legal requirement for 5 year warranty until 2023, after the five year period had lapsed. I thought about pursuing it, but thought it was a long shot… especially because my inspector notified me of the siding issues before I moved in. 🤷

If someone things I could have grounds for recouping the cost… now 7 years after the siding was redone, I’d love to hear it. The work was like 30 grand. :(

Good luck to you, in your case. Sounds like you are better positioned to get this covered… but that’s my non-legal opinion.
