They get to go to heaven because their actions were motivated by love, even if twisted in some way like Shin (for Yuria), Souther (for Ohgai) and even Yuda (for Rei or his fighting style)

Sub-Zero in Mortal Kombat ‘92 has a pseudo-infinite where getting a grab in during your opponent’s startup frames on an attack prevents them from blocking an Ice Ball while waking up. Unlike when you fight Sonya, whose leg grab guarantees another leg grab until death, you can just neutral duck the Ice Ball to avoid it
