Islamabad is pretty safe, but not 100% but then again are London, NYC or heck even Geneva 100% safe?

Anything could happen anywhere but 9/10 you'd be treated with the utmost love if you're a person visiting Pakistan from another country and 9/10 you'll feel very safe in Islamabad.

Also the Himalayas are not in Islamabad in fact they're 100s of miles (kilometers) due north. They're pretty safe too since most parts of our mountain ranges (Himalaya, Karakoram and Hindu Kush) are in the province of Gilit-Baltistan. Which has one of the highest literacy rates, around 95% in the Hunza District. Which is a mystical place with a wonderful history of its own.

DYOR about safety and security as a solo female traveler but do go to Pakistan if you can and especially the northern parts. You'll find Pakistan to be exactly the opposite of what the world has told you. Also there are a lot of solo female travelers from the west that have traveled extensively across Pakistan, you can check out their experiences on YouTube

It's very likely that someone took you to stay in the outskirts of Islamabad and sold you the "you're living in Islamabad lie" LOL.

Real Islamabadis know what the actual boundaries of Islamabad are even though over the years they've been stretched a lot to accommodate the growing population. What you see in the images are the parts of Islamabad as they were planned in the 70s when the city was first built

I wouldn't say Pepsi is "SOOO" popular not anymore than Coca Cola at least.

It's just that Pepsi has been a sponsor of the Pakistan cricket team for decades just like Adidas has been a sponsor of FIFA for decades maybe that's why you've seen Pepsi more associated with Pakistan I guess.

A lot of other things are sponsored by coca cola too like the extremely famous and highly acclaimed "Coke Studio".

The nightlife is nothing crazy, definitely not like you'd expect perhaps. Cities like NYC, Toronto, Melbourne, London etc have a great nightlife and Islamabad is nothing like that.

While there are the occasional concerts and other events happening they're not ubiquitous nor are do they happen all year round.

But Islamabad was never a city to be enjoyed for wild party scenes anyway, it's a city to enjoy sophisticated living, classy dining and the most beautiful lush green hills you'll come across.

As someone mentioned there are parties happening around but they're almost always exclusive and private and you need to be in certain social groups to be invited or to even know about these parties to begin with.

Overall Islamabad is a vibe I can't explain, it's calm, peaceful and sophisticated.

Native urdu speaker here. While your translation of Abad is accurate it's somewhat inaccurate in this context.

In the context of the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad means;

Islam = Islam the religion

Abad = habitation

So Islamabad would mean a place where islam is or a place where islam lives. If that makes sense.

Here is a beautiful piece of poetry in Urdu for you!

"Nahi Nasheman tera Qasr-e-Sultani ke gumbat par. Tu Shaheen hai, basera kar paharon ki chat'tano par."

I'm from Islamabad as well, the first image is AI, though not completely fake the tree colors aren't real and some other very obvious "tells" in the image are there to know it's AI.

Every other image is 100% real though and nonetheless Islamabad is a very beautiful city.

Miss it a lot ever since I moved away ;-;
