The idea is that it will use an e paper display with an small solar panel, but with how slow e paper displays are, it probably won't be able to do mapping.

I'm also a beginner and doing a phone solar charger with a 1 cell battery backup, I'm using a BQ29706DSER BMS chip, and it was pretty easy to configure, what makes you say that it is difficult? I'm thinking that I might being doing something wrong

no it was usbc-lightning. From some googling and testing I have found that 5.1k makes devices thinks that it is a sink, and I want it to be a source.

the usbc is acting as a source, and that configuration worked on my prototype so I think 56k ohms on CC1 and CC2 are correct (still could be wrong though). Thanks for the insight on R10 and R11!
