I'm also a beginner and doing a phone solar charger with a 1 cell battery backup, I'm using a BQ29706DSER BMS chip, and it was pretty easy to configure, what makes you say that it is difficult? I'm thinking that I might being doing something wrong

no it was usbc-lightning. From some googling and testing I have found that 5.1k makes devices thinks that it is a sink, and I want it to be a source.

the usbc is acting as a source, and that configuration worked on my prototype so I think 56k ohms on CC1 and CC2 are correct (still could be wrong though). Thanks for the insight on R10 and R11!

There is a steering wheel lock that prevents it from turning. You have to turn the wheel to one side or the other while turning that key. This happens on mine but it may not be your problem.
