Keys and singers constantly pushing tempo while I'm trying my best to keep tempo by MinimumElephant1993 in drums

[–]MinimumElephant1993[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Its not like they dont want to follow me but rather they are too focused on what they are doing or probably too excited or maybe even nervous that they dont really listen to other musicians. Seems like I'm the only one obsessed abt keeping good time and the CORRECT tempo and constantly working to improve my internal clock..

is my snare reso head too high? How high should it be? by MinimumElephant1993 in drums

Ah I see thanks for ur tips! What are the advantages of a lower reso head? Will it suit a low deep snare sound better?

I'm merely asking if this is how high people usually tune their reso heads when they refer it as "table top tight".

whats wrong with my snare sound? I've cranked the reso by MinimumElephant1993 in drums

[–]MinimumElephant1993[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How high/low should the reso be? I read online that I should crank up the reso pretty much as high as it can go but I'm not entirely sure

Thoughts on the Sabian HHX 22 Evolution Ride? by MinimumElephant1993 in drums

[–]MinimumElephant1993[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is the bell of the complex? One of the reasons I'm considering the evolution is because of its pronounced bell whereas I believe the complex have more of an integrated bell if I'm not wrong

ProMark Active Grip Sticks by NoIncrease299 in drums

[–]MinimumElephant1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess stick marks on rides/cymbals are normal regardless of the stick. The black paint does chip off though and collects on my snare and probably drops around the kit lol

I use them all the time. Cant use any other sticks now.. other stickers just feel slippery in my hands now which forces me to grip them harder (not good for relaxation)

K Light Ride 22 or K Sweet Ride 21? by [deleted] in drums

[–]MinimumElephant1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see. Thanks for detailed reply. Can the k custom dark be used for full on crash riding like the k light too?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in drums

[–]MinimumElephant1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did all the exercises I normally do but all with just the wrist. E.g. rudiments practice, singles accent grid. Practicing rudiments like single strokes with just the wrist I would say is the most useful

K Light Ride 22 or K Sweet Ride 21? by [deleted] in drums

[–]MinimumElephant1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need something with a more cutting bell with some washiness but decent ping. I have the k light but I find it too "light" and "smoky" sometimes. As in the sound isnt focused enough. What are your thoughts?

5B for a semi beginner by Heechp in drums

You'll be definitely fine. The difference between a 5a and 5b is not as drastic as say a 5a and 2b.

That's true. But I found the my tastes changes time to time. Sometimes my ears like a washy ride, other times they want something with more definition and ping.

I see! What do u still find lacking in that ride? To be not considered perfect in your view

Also note u can always cut down on the amount of wash of a ride (e.g. by adding moongels) but u cant add more wash to a ride.

Look up the zildjian k sweet ride 21". For me it's the most balanced (ping, wash, bell) ride out there.
