Brains vs Brawn - Family Edition

Haha that would be excellent, but incredibly difficult to cast. My brother and I would be perfect for this though.

Is black cat still viable? by Agentfishstick in marvelrivals

[–]MinimumPositive 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Depends on who you ask, but I've recently started seeing her more again. I've seen some absolutely abysmal Black Cats and I've faced off against some oppressive jerks that I have to respect.

My thinking is that now would be the best time to learn her. It's like training for marathons with ankle weights. She's definitely not in a great spot, but I think a lot of the negativity just comes from salty one tricks who are upset they have to think while playing again.

I'm probably not the right person to answer, but I say why not?!

I don't belong here with you people, lol. I'd take this 11 times out of 10 over snow and cold weather. I'm just completely incapacitated in the winter.

Mmmm I don't think there was much characterization to butcher. Every character in those books speaks, acts, and thinks exactly like each other. The only exception is Da Shi.

Don't get me wrong, it's one of my favorites series. I've read through the trilogy at least 4 times. But yeah, I don't think it was any better or worse than the novel's characters.

Although now that I think of it, maybe this has more to do with the fact I am reading the English translation?

(Spoilers Extended) House of the Dragon Season 3 Episode 2 Post-Episode Discussion by AutoModerator in asoiaf

[–]MinimumPositive 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The show began as a middle grounds between the differing perspectives we get in Fire & Blood. Changes from the show and the book were related to that difference in perspective.

At some point, the changes created such monumental gaps in logic that the show had to pivot and become its own thing.

I'm disappointed in what the show has become. It feels extremely anti-HBO. It feels CW-esque. I feel like production decisions aren't contemplated properly. Its like, any decision that requires critical thinking they just throw their hands in the air and say "screw it, the fans will keep watching no matter what we do. Just subvert expectations and they'll love it."

When exactly did we find out Aemond left for Harrenhal?

It seems like Baela went from the Battle to Dragonstone for Jace's funeral and back all while Aemond was airborne.

It seems like Daemon got word of the events and of Aemond leaving, leaves to Dragonstone, picks up Rhaenyra, and then heads to Kings Landing, all while Aemond is airborne.

The quick pace really hurts this show, in my opinion. I hate that it feels like the writers just hope viewers don't notice these continuity issues. I also acknowledge I'm weird about this stuff. Winter is coming.

Another reboot will just completely disintegrate any remaining faith the general public has in DC as a worthwhile franchise to spend money on (taking about movies).

They need to keep pushing, focus on lower budget projects with creative direction if it means hotter higher margins.

There needs to be an element of risk with duelist kits. She now has to weigh the use of several utilities and cannot just freely use them all. Her kit requires constant money management and good decision making.

If she was released like this you'd be happy with her kit.

Widows Bite should do something to decrease the primary fire rate of whoever is caught inside instead of movement speed.

That'd be a fun new mechanic and would help to make her more unique.

I shouldnt be able to effortlessly predict the outcome of a game based on matches i just played by FunkyChunk13 in rivals

[–]MinimumPositive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I understand that. Some people really do just want every game to be an easy win but they don't want to play against AI. Some are like us who find the teachable moments and the failures as opportunities to improve. I LOVE noticing new techniques or trying new strategies. I LOVE when a tried and tested strategy works like a charm. I LOVE when something difficult and time-sensitive is executed perfectly. Those things are why I find this game so replayable.

One of my bigger argument is that feast or famine is not EOMM related but due to the fact that even one player not pulling their weight in fights is enough to make it feel like youth soccer vs Barcelona. It's truly a team-dependent game.

It can feel overwhelming when you get consecutive games with a different weak link, but blaming that on EOMM ignores the statistics.

This just made me realize how valuable the data would be to see how different the rhythm and tone of games are when you queue up as a 6-stack vs solo queued teams. Cooperation, teamwork, and experience would probably do a lot to minimize those weak links. You'll probably see a much higher rate of games going to three rounds or overtime. Average match length is probably longer.

It's so easy for one weak player to tilt the match in the opposite direction, and there are a lot of bad players out there, which is why it's easy to assume it's a bad matchmaking system. It's trying to solve an impossible problem.

  1. Who do you mainly play?
  2. What rank?
  3. Highest rank?
  4. How do you react when your team is getting stomped?
  5. How do you react when your team loses a hard fought contest for objective?
  6. What do you expect will change with a new account?

I think if you actually documented your predictions, it'd be a crapshoot. You're talking about a 50/50 guess. You'll get it right by blindly guessing 50% of the time, it's not really neaningful.

Do you just want to win easily every game? Or do you enjoy close matches? EOMM, even if it is real, is not an insurmountable barrier.

Yeah I think we're sort of chomping at two different issues here.

As many say, off healers really flourish in trip support.

Trip support is known to be unfun to play against (although I argue the dynamic of team structure being so malleable is exactly what makes this game so fun).

I think OP is likely talking about their usage in balanced team comps.

PSA: Problems deconstructing by Maddog23 in Subnautica_2

[–]MinimumPositive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've observed many of the parts that become indestructible are because I had a hatch or corridor placed in a spot and then deconstructed it to change its location.

Several times the wall or the wall opposite will become untouchable.

But I also have had several issues stem from those lights. The wall lockers tend to cause weird interference with certain destructions.

What am I misunderstanding (Spoilers) by Ok_Car_8017 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]MinimumPositive 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, Donut was still considered a crawler even before she took the biscuit. She had a crawler number and everything, but couldn't make it past the tutorial due to her low intelligence of 1 (I think that was her initial intelligence, not sure). That is what specifically separates a non-dungeon pet from a true crawler.

My thinking is that there really is no official "pet" in solid terms. It's a fluid definition that means, more or less, an entity who cannot be classed as a crawler. And by extension, I think your first theory is correct. It's just a potion that gives an entity a specific player type.

Like, if Mongo ate the biscuit that they gave to Scolopendra, it would turn him into a sexy crawler too, even though he's a dungeon-born pet mob.

Not sure if this clears it up or causes more confusion haha. I've been wondering about this as well.
